Programs: We are open to the general public. The library is open to the public for reference use in researching fitchburg history and local genealogy. The fitchburg historical society also provides public educational programs such as lectures, book signings, panel discussions and exhibitions in the newly renovated George R. Wallace, Jr. and Alice Wallace Exhibition Hall. Programs in local history are provided on-site for visiting groups, including schools and social groups. Staff and volunteers from the historical society also travel to local schools, nonprofits and other community groups to present educational programs on local history and other historical topics. We also welcomed international visitors to Fitchburg's downtown, which is a jewel of 19th century architecture, and the historic resources of the entire city.
