Mission: To sponsor and support independent media projects, to offer educational and networking opportunities to a wide range of media makers, and to use media to educate the public about relevant issues and the filmmaking process.
Programs: "superpower dogs" - a film to tell the true stories of search and rescue dogs that fight crime, save lives and lift spirits.
"sighted eyes / feelings heart" - a nonfiction film account of the life of lorraine hansberry, writer of the groundbreaking play a raisin in the sun.
"the uncondemned" - a film project about the story of the women and men who came together for the first international tribunals since nuremberg to prosecute crimes of war.
other film projects and other program services - the collaborative is a non-profit corporation of new england and nationally-based independent filmmakers formed to support the production of independent films and other educational materials that increase public understanding of social, cultural, political, and environmental issues. The collaborative acts as a fiscal sponsor of film projects through sub-grants or contractual agreements with filmmakers and is now the grantee of record for over 200 media projects across the country. The collaborative also provides mentoring opportunities to first-time filmmakers and organizes the annual making media now conference, the boston international kids film festival as well as workshops and internships.
