other film projects and other program services - the collaborative is a non-profit corporation of new england and nationally-based independent filmmakers formed to support the production of independent films and other educational materials that increase public understanding of social, cultural, political, and environmental issues. The collaborative acts as a fiscal sponsor of film projects through sub-grants or contractual agreements with filmmakers and is now the grantee of record for over 200 media projects across the country. The collaborative also provides mentoring opportunities to first-time filmmakers and organizes the annual making media now conference, the boston international kids film festival as well as workshops and internships.
