Mission: The Filipino Children's Fund, Inc.(FCF) was established as a non-profit, charitable corporation in 1986 by a small group of Filipino-Americans and others concerned about the future of Filipino children, the majority of whom live under persistent and abject poverty. The group dedicated the FCF solely to support self-help opportunities that might improve the lives of even a small number of poor Filipino children.

Today, FCF is guided by a board of directors comprised principally of professionals who voluntarily contribute their time and expertise and who, to date, have directed continuing FCF support to over 20 separate livelihood projects in Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao. These projects range from grass-root community vegetable gardens and job training to revolving loans for small business initiatives and family housing construction.

FCF is a nonprofit, non-sectarian organization. When necessary, FCF utilizes the infrastructure of the organized church or other non-profit institutions in the Philippines to identify prospective projects, distribute funds, and provide uncompensated on-site supervision. At the same time, however, FCF, through its supervisors, consults with regional government experts and, wherever appropriate, encourages the use of local public services for the benefit of its projects.

Unlike many other Philippine-American organizations, FCF spans all regions and maintains no special interests or ties to any particular province or institution in the Philippines. All of the projects of FCF are conducted on the underlying principle of self-help and at a level, which will directly benefit only indigent children and their families. Wherever possible, FCF support is directed to projects in which the labor of the poor will result in local reinvestment and further project growth or new self-help initiatives. Virtually 100 percent of all tax-deductible gifts to FCF is used to directly support these projects.
