Mission: Falconn's mission is to provide an avenue for sports, recreation and charity for the filipino-american community that will promote unity, compassion and wholesome relationship among individuals and other partner organizations in connecticut, new york and new jersey.
Programs: Sportsthrough participation in its sports program, falconn aims to promote health and fitness among its members and help the youth to engage in positive activities. It also intends to enhance unity and camaraderie among filipino-american families in its community and neighboring states. These are year round activities, starting with: a. Basketball (march to may): a total of 16 teams participated (divided into 2 divisions) ranging from 11 to 15 players each team; and c. Bowling (august to december): a total of 16 teams participated (divided into 3 divisions), maximum of 6 bowlers per team. For each league, falconn serves an estimate of 300 to 500 participants, guests, volunteers, and members, working together to achieve its mission of providing an avenue for sports, recreation, and charity works that will promote unity, compassion, and wholesome relationship among individuals and other organizations in connecticut, new york, and new jersey.
charityfalconn cares (charity and responsibility) helps in providing supplemental food, clothing, and shelter to individuals and families in its community and neighboring areas through its continuous participation in the soup kitchen at the new covenant center in stamford, connecticut. The new covenant center, through the generosity of volunteers and area organizations and the help of the city of stamford and the leadership of catholic charities of fairfield county, is able to serve approximately 700,000 meals annually. During the first sundays of each month until september, falconn is able to share nutritious meals to at least 100 clients. Volunteering with the american red cross has also been a part of the organization's many tasks. As first-aid and cpr volunteers, falconn is able to participate in red cross events in the tri-state area, in greenwich town's marathons and triathlons in connecticut, which usually starts in april and culminates in december and in the new york city marathon. Aside from being involved in red cross health and safety services, the organization also participates in its disaster training and relief, shelter operations, fire prevention programs and blood donation. Falconn cares never ceases to offer assistance to those in need of aid not only in times of disasters but also to those who need to pursue their dreams of getting a better education (don bosco school philippines alternative learning system for the out of school youths), the orphans (kamanggagawa foundation), and those who need to stay and get well and find cures against cancer (american cancer society). Falconn also donated to the victims of typhoon nina (december, 2016) in virac, catanduanes releasing an amount of $1,072. 00 for the renovation of the library of antipolo elementary school. In february, 2017, it also contributed an amount of $600. 00 for the 107 families/victims of the earthquake in surigao city, surigao del norte. In november, 2017, it sent a total amount of $1,550. 00 for the battle of marawi victims.
membershipfalconn encourages its members' involvement in civic and community services and supports their unwavering dedication in extending aid and assistance to filipino-americans both here and in the philippines, in times of emergency, particularly those affected by natural calamities. It also never fails to assist its own members, especially in times of need. Falconn holds its camping and picnic each year to continuously inspire its members to build and strengthen the bond that brought them together. It also yearly recognizes its outstanding members, volunteers, and supporters, as a form of appreciation for their invaluable contribution to the organization.
youth and fellowship activitiesfalconn pamana (philippine american aid to those in need of assistance) youth: contact person/project coordinator: jynette d. Ramos (head teacher); project location: gen. E. Aguinaldo, sablayan, occidental mindoro, philippines; project description: construction of 2 classroom building for the purpose of education and for evacuation and shelter during severe storms, started on march, 2017 and completed on june, 2017, supervised by the pamana committee and the falconn board members; estimated cost: $11,569. 00. 00. While poverty is the main problem in encouraging people to send their children to school in this area, other factors such as peace and order, unavailability of schools due to distance, climate changes, and the parents' indifference and lack of educational information are as crucial. The implementation of an education program, and the building of these two classrooms help avert poverty and illiteracy in this area. The falconn family day, a whole day affair, was held last august 13, 2017 at sherwood island beach westport, connecticut. An estimated of 150 people attended the said event. This activity is done once a year for falconn's family and friends and for those who supported the organization's leagues, charitable works and endeavors. They are filled with fun with lots of games and surprises that will promote unity and camaraderie among its members and the community as well.
