Festival Ballet Albuquerque:
FBA was founded in 2009 and in ten short years has performed for over 10,000 people free of charge in their vast OUTREACH Programs, including onsite mobile performances of TheHistoryof Dance in hundreds of APS elementary schools. FBA has received national recognition from periodicals such as The Wall Street Journal and American Profile. Festival Ballet Albuquerque is the only dance company from New Mexico to have adjudicated and been awarded member company status in the prestigious national organization, Regional Dance America and hosted the Southwest Region’s annual Festival 2019 receiving a City of Albuquerque Mayoral Proclamation for recognition in bringing over 700 participants from 5 states to ABQ, for excellence in dance and for providing economic boosts to the City and State. Annually, FBA provides over 200 work opportunities for local professional musicians, dancers and theatrical designers. Additionally, FBA yearly provides nearly 2000 tickets to productions at National Hispanic Cultural Center where clients of area Health and Human Resource organizations serving the homeless, women and children victims of domestic abuse, physically and mentally challenged, families of incarcerated individuals, Special Olympics, educational initiatives, APS Title 1 school children who are invited to attend free of charge professionally presented programs such as NUTCRACKER IN THE LAND IF ENCHANTMENT, DRACULA, A LOVE STORY, and SACRED JOURNEYS, a collaboration with two time Grammy award winning Taos Pueblo musician, Robert Mirabal and former New York City Ballet icon, Jock Soto. FBA was recognized by the Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education Award for Excellence in the Arts for Symphony for Autism while working in collaboration with NM Philharmonic on performances of PETER AND THE WOLF at Popejoy Hall, an annual event. FBA has trained hundreds of young dancers in performance opportunities of the highest caliber that have led many on to dance professionally in national and international companies. Funded annually by private individuals, business contributions, Foundations , FBA also is supported by the City of Albuquerque and New Mexico Arts, a Division of the Department of Cultural Affairs. Patricia Dickinson Wells serves as Founder/Artistic Director and is supported by an active Board of Trustees, local and national professionals in their fields.
