My son and I have both volunteered for Feed More and we have been so impressed by the way that they provide made from scratch meals to so many people in central VA each day. They make thousands of meals a day while accommodating over a dozen different dietary plans--all while utilizing volunteer assistance and donated food. It is an amazing feat that serves our community every day.
I am a manager at a local business, that holds an annual Bachelor and Bachelorette Auction for charity. Upon approaching the CVFB about making them the beneficiary of our auction, we were turned away. On the basis that our business was not an admirable donator.
Apparently they checked our website and did not like what type of business we were, and would not take our money unless we donated anonymously.
It should be noted that we raised over $800 and gave it to The Daily Planet instead. They didn't care where the money came from, and just wanted to help people.
I now also personally donate to charities, instead of going through the Food Bank.
