All I can say is I wish I could get up to FS more often! Every time I have gone has been a positive experience. The care of the birds is impeccable~ Lynne is so knowledgeable and helpful. It has also helped me become more comfortable being around and handling different species. Over 1000 birds placed into homes, that says something!
Before becoming a board member I was a volunteer for almost a decade. Working with a group of people so dedicated to helping birds is an awesome feeling. This rescue is one of the most dedicated group I have ever met. Being a nonprofit organization we rely on the generosity of others to help us take care of a lot of birds in need. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have adopted and also a forever foster momma for some very dear family members. I can not put into words the love, care and dedication that FS puts into their everyday care of precious babies in their care!!! the time they take making sure their feathered fids choices in families are compatible.
I have been volunteering at FS for almost a decade now. I can not tell you how great the other volunteers, board members and other rescue lovers are. The time, care and attention lavished on the birds in care and also the follow-up after a bird is adopted from this rescue is just tremendous!! I am very lucky to be able to volunteer there and learn so much and adopt my babies from this rescue.
My daughter is an emotionally & mentally challenged teenager. She has great anxiety whenever she leaves the house. 1 of the rare times that she will try to venture out is for trips to places that has animals because animals is 1 of the few things that makes her happy. We discovered the rescue last year & have visited it multiple times since. The staff/volunteers there are just as wonderful & accepting with her as they are with all the birds that come under their roof. Unknowingly, I feel they have helped my daughter make progress with several of her issues during her visits because of who they are by making her feel safe & welcomed whenever she comes; allowing us to help with the birds when she is able & fielding the numerous questions that she fires at them constantly which is allowing her to learn in a way that she doesn't resent & resist are just a few examples. They allow us to spend long hours there as we try to learn & determine whether or not we can adopt a bird into our household. I highly recommend the rescue to everybody that has an interest in birds from the just curious to the advance bird caretaker to come check them out. I betting once you do, you be coming back. Warning to those that are thinking about adopting, they only allowing adoption if they know that the birds will be well taken care & your home will become the birds forever home. They also have a great little shop within the rescue for your bird supplies that will also help with the birds staying there. They frequently have activities there or elsewhere in the Lancaster County that you could also check out. Once you visit & fall in love with the rescue consider helping them out by becoming an volunteer or making a donation. Both are always needed & welcomed.
We adopted our amazon at Feathered Sanctuary. We are grateful to be given the opportunity to bring him into our home and adopt him. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect member to be added to our flock.
Feathered Sanctuary also has a small store within their rescue with supplies that you may need for your feathered friend. (Proceeds from the store also help the birds in their care so it is a win win situation)
I am thankful that there are wonderful places like Feathered Sanctuary to take in, care and love the parrots that no longer have a home.
My mom and I volunteer at Feathered Sanctuary for several years now. We have also adopted an amazon from them.
Feathered Sanctuary is amazing in the love and care that they provide for the parrots in their care. It is also amazing the guidance they offer to people who might need to be pointed in the right direction. They provide educational information and do outreach events. It is amazing what they are doing to help educate the public on the needs of these beautiful and intelligent parrots.
Thank you to Feathered Sanctuary for everything that they do...it truly is all about the birds.
I think it is amazing what Feathered Sanctuary does for the parrots in their care. I don't own parrots but my daughter and granddaughter do and they have adopted from Feathered Sanctuary. Our family loves Feathered Sanctuary and appreciates everything they do for the parrots in their care.
Feathered Sanctuary is a God send! Thank you for what you do!!

Recently, I had to downsize my living quarters to a very tiny apartment, and my four canaries, in a flight cage, had trouble adjusting to their new surroundings. I had taken great care of them for four years, and they were quite happy birds. Somehow the change in environment brought out aggressive behavior in them-squabbling, chasing, competing. They needed to be separated and I simply did not have the room to do this. It took a long time to consider surrendering them-I had never given away a pet, ever. This was hard for me to do. Very hard. Yet ultimately, I felt it would be best for my birds. When I arrived at the shelter, I told myself that if it is unclean, unhappy, unkempt, out the door I would go. Quite the opposite-the birds there were happy, and their cages were very clean. I was really impressed. I know that I had done what was best for my canaries, and I was so grateful that such a quality shelter existed in this area. Many thanks to everyone at Feathered Sanctuary Exotic Bird Rescue for all their great work and care.
I have volunteered at Feathered Sanctuary for many years and I have learned so much! I have gotten all my birds from there. Adoption is the best way to go. I learn something new everyday. I enjoy going there on my free days. Its a wonderful rescue!!
I have only recently (within the last 6 months or so) had the pleasure of finding this wonderful rescue. Everyone there is so dedicated to helping the birds in their care. I enjoy being able to go there and interact with all of the birds, and have adopted several birds from them. I am so happy to have found and been able to help at such a wonderful place with such wonderful people!! It is most definitely one of my favorite places to spend my free time at!
We decided to bring another parrot into our home not long after the death of our blue & gold macaw. He was a pseudo-rescue and our dog is a rescue so we started to look into parrot rescues in our area and quickly found Feathered Sanctuary. We were blown away during our first visit, the people there and the work they do are nothing short of amazing. Having lived with as many as 3 parrots I know what a (wonderful) handful they can be so to see them care for literally dozens of parrots is incredible. Their adoption process is no joke, they make sure you are fully ready for the commitment of taking one of their babies home. These folks are indeed a GREAT non-profit!
Visited Feathered Sanctuary Exotic Bird Rescue several times through out the years, I have visited the rescue birds they take care of so well, gotten advice for my own parrots and supported them buying food , bird toys, and donations for having my parrots wings and nails clipped. They are so caring for all the birds they take in, and knowledgeable about the birds care, with a final goal of placing these beautiful birds in new homes.
I have been volunteering at Feathered Sanctuary for several years now. I enjoy my time at Feathered Sanctuary. After we are finished cleaning the birds in their care, I get to spend time with the birds and interact with them. It is an awesome experience.
Feathered Sanctuary is amazing in all that they do for the birds in their care. They provide them with a temporary home until they can find a forever home. They make sure the birds in their care have everything they need. Feathered Sanctuary provides a loving and enriching environment for parrots to start over.
Feathered Sanctuary also does outreach events to help educate the public on caring for their companion parrots. They are at That Pet Place almost every week and also attend other events to meet with the public.
The volunteers at Feathered Sanctuary are amazing in the education, care and love they provide for these awesome parrots.
