Fathers Heart Ministries has the reputation of caring for the whole person, not simply their physical needs. I know from volunteers who have worked there and other similar places that Fathers Heart goes beyond providing meals and services to genuinely care for the emotional and spiritual needs of their guests as well.

Their retail and wholesale ice cream store, Alphabet Scoop, provides job training and mentoring for at-risk teens. This is one of the best ways to help teens who have grown up in poverty areas advance in school and the job market.

The Fther's Heart Ministries is a great mission that provides a caring environment forthose that need the help. The services provided are one of kind and I saw the gratefulness in the faces of those that were being served.

They also serve at risk teens in the east village by providing tutoring, weeknight programs to keep them off the streets, and job training in their ice cream shop . I volunteer with fathers heart twice a month at their soup kitchen. Fathers heart is very special to me because whenever I go there, I feel blessed almost immediately. I get to meet new people who share the love of God, friends who through ministry, make my faith in God stronger and guest that when they are fed, their spirits are renewed and also see the love of God. I look forwards to my saturdays there and I have to say, it is the best part of my week.

MY experience with this organization has been wonderful. After volunteering the first time and saw the wonderful work they do I decided to volunteer once a month. It's been over a year and I am glad I have committed time. They do great work.

Father's Heart Ministries has managed to achieve something extraordinary -- not only do they operate at a high level of excellence and efficiency to feed a phenomenal number of people in a short amount of time, but they also cultivate an atmosphere of welcome that feeds their guests souls as well as their stomachs. They infuse their actions with a compassion and joy that is contagious to their volunteers. I have been greatly impacted by my experience serving at the Father's Heart, and I'm so grateful that such a place exists for those in need.

FHM is a place where people are fed -- both physically and emotionally. Not only does it provide food for people who need it, but it gives the rest of us an opportunity to serve in our community.

FHM is a place where guests are welcomed with open arms. Many guests have shared that they keep coming because here they are treated with dignity and fairness. The staff at FHM is a loving and caring community. They are persistent advocates and have consistently ministered to the physical and spiritual needs of their guests.

I served for the first time this Saturday at the soup kitchen and food pantry. It was a fabulous experience, FHM has a tremendous process down pat. It was an honor to serve the guests their breakfasts and lift them up to the Lord. I hope they experienced some short relief from their current unfortunate circumstances and realized their precious worth to our God.

I was struggling to get out of bed early on a Saturday morning and then I showed up at The Father's Heart. Serving breakfast to the homeless was a very humbling yet super, fun experience. I volunteered with 8 others from my church and was placed on the clean-up crew. It was overwhelming to see so many homeless and needy people but was grateful for the opportunity to help meet their needs of a warm meal. I was challenged by The Father's Heart to share the never ending love of God with the guests that morning. This is a great ministry!

I have been volunteering on and off since last October, and I recently became a regular volunteer. I just love how much love and care each staff member at Father's Heart Ministries shows to the guests we serve. Father's Heart Ministries deserves all the funding it can receive.

Father's Heart is all about welcoming people home, and that is what the guests feel when they come in. They are welcomed with love. I have volunteered several occasions with other students from NYU medical school, and it is such a gift to us to be apart of what is going on in that sacred place!

I have volunteered monthly for more than 6+ years. My most recent experience was yesterday. Each person who enters the church is greeted as a welcomed guest, not a client. What continues to amaze me is the powerful faith of the pastors for God to provide so that they may continue to feed those who are hungry! Unfortunately, the numbers of people who are hungry in NYC keeps growing. A young volunteer asked me, "How are they able to feed each person?" I simply answered, "By God's grace." Anyone who thinks they are simply coming to volunteer will walk away feeling different about feeding those less fortunate than ourselves.

I volunteered here about 2 months and I can honestly say it was a great experience! It felt good to see all the kids having fun at this church. Every game imaginable was provided and the food was really good and healthy. I played around with the kids for such a long time and completely forgot I had to go back and study. Altogether, it was fun both for me and for the kids.

I have volunteered three times at Father's heart: first as a volunteer in the kitchen (scrambling eggs), second during the family night, and last in a health screening during one of the dinners.

Any situation with hundreds of people being fed and 50 volunteers is going to feel a little chaotic, but I was very impressed that Father's Heart was extremely well-organized and thought out. I really appreciated their volunteer orientation talk where they reminded us to treat everyone as guests and with respect. I like that they are very careful of hygiene and sanitation with everyone wearing gloves, hairnets, and color-coded aprons by task! It was very efficient - we started on time and ended on time, and I really appreciated that respect for the volunteers' time.

They also have a fantastic ice cream parlor during the summer that employs local teens. Not only is the ice cream fantastic and CHEAP, but you are supporting a good cause!

This organization's ministry is great! The event is well organized and welcoming to both its volunteers and it's guests. The kitchen does an amazing job and the church leaders really support the guests here. God's presence at this event is felt EVERY week! I feel blessed to be able to serve such an amazing ministry.

I volunteered at what appeared to be a very typical Saturday morning breakfast. At first, I wondered why in the world so many volunteers were needed to simply serve breakfast, but when the guests started pouring in, I realized this is no "simple" breakfast. Remarkably, we served approximately 700 people in about an hour and a half. During volunteer training, there was much emphasis on making the guests feel like GUESTS (not people in need of a hand-out). We worked hard to create a festive, warm environment for the guests. All kinds of people were served with the same dignity -- definitely a cross-section of New Yorkers (young people stumbling out of the local crack house after a hard night of drugs; elderly people from nearby Chinatown with children in tow; some who were clearly homeless; others whose background couldn't be readily assessed). I frequently remember and marvel at my experience at the Father's Heart. TRUE ministry is done there on Saturday mornings.

Volunteered Feb 26 when we served 632 people. Worked the outside lines. The entire volunteer staff were all super fun wonderful people. They run a really efficient process. It was such a fun, uplifting experience. I'm definitely going to go again.

I have /volunteered at Father's Heart several times over the past year, and am also a regular donor to their cause. Every time I go I am reminded both that there are people struggling to survive in my own neighborhood, but there are also those willing to help them through their difficult times. Not only do they operate their soup kitchen like a well-oiled machine, but they also do so with incredible compassion and grace for their guests. They try to do a lot of prep work ahead of time to be ready for their guests on Saturday morning; however, I would still suggest having some volunteers come in before the regular volunteers arrive so that the pantry bag line runs as smoothly as possible without having to wait for bags to be made on the spot.

No matter what their financial situation is they put aside their problems for an hour to eat warm food, pray and mingle with new people.

I learned about Father's Heart through Forefront Church about a year ago, and have been truly impressed by the work they do- the efficiency, professionalism, respect, and love they show everyone is awesome. I am proud to contribute in any small way that I can.

I've volunteered for a breakfast for the poor and always hear about the services they provide from my church bulletin. The place was well-organized and the dedication to serving the neighbors in the Alphabet City really showed. Great organization to support and volunteer for!

Served 632 people today and I am always amazed at how good I feel after leaving this wonderful place. I have been volunteering for about a year and have worked in different teams from the pantry to serving to cooking eggs and praying for the diverse groups of people that walk through the Father's Heart wooden doors. NOT once have I left with a negative thought in my mind. Even if someone yelled a little too loudly to hurry it up with the eggs, or worrying for a split second that we would run out of coffee, I am humbled to be a part of a ministry that cares. It is a well-oiled machine that supports, prays and feeds thousands of people every year and I am a better person for partaking in their efforts here in NYC.

This is the best organization! They are really making a difference in a rough part of NYC. Their evening get togethers for at risk kids are such a positive influence in the lives of many kids who have nothing positive in their lives. The people who work there care about those they serve -- I wish there was a Father's Heart on every corner of this city!

Talk about doing a lot with a little - Father's Heart does amazing work in the community, serving the needs of the population in the Lower East Side of NYC. The energy, enthusiasm, efficiency and most of all - love that these folks show is amazing! They do so with limited resources but and unlimited amount of love and care.

Hi! I'm an East Village resident. I can tell you that there are many many seniors, working poors, immigrants, unemployed, and homeless living in the neighborhood. Father's Heart Ministries provides much needed services to them. One of their services is the soup kitchen and food pantry every Saturday morning. In a good day they serve up to 800 guests in an hour. They have volunteers from all over the city (I'm one of them) and sometimes all over the country. That really shows their organization skill, leadership and dedication. Besides foods, they give their hospitality and heart to their guests that really makes a huge difference!

Father's Heart's Saturday morning breakfasts are always joy-filled and efficient. Doesn't seem possible for so many guests to feel so welcome and cared-for. I really don't know how 800 people get to eat as much as they want during a seated breakfast in an hour and a half - but I know FH's guests leave feeling nourished and encouraged.

I came to NYC on a trip to visit family. They took me to volunteer at Father Heart Ministries and I cant tell you the impact it made. People were waiting in line an hour before it opened just to make sure they got some food. It was completely packed the entire time we were serving food. People were so grateful and continually told me how thankful they were for place like Father Hear Ministries. This place is necessary for the survival of NYC!

Father's Heart is a wonderful place. I am truly blessed to be a part of this needed ministry. We feed hundreds of hungry New Yorkers every month and their grateful faces and smiles make me humble and proud to be volunteer.

Father's Heart is a wonderful organization! They work hard to stretch every dollar they receive. My awesome daughter and SIL have donated hundreds of hours of their time to this cause; I am so proud of the work they do to make lives better for those who are in need and we do what we can from afar by making a financial contribution. They could do a better job staying engaged with their donors -- its a great way to keep the money flowing.

I've volunteered at Fathers Heart about 3-4 times a year for the past 3 years or so. I continue to be impressed with what's going on there. The volunteer supervisors are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They treat each person who comes through the doors with dignity and respect. And the more I've been there, the more I realize that it's not at all an act. The people there are the real deal. That really comes across to the guests - last week I was talking to a gentleman waiting in line and he was going on and on about how this place is so much more pleasant than a lot of other soup kitchens. I would absolutely recommend Fathers Heart as a place worthy of investing your time, talents or money.

I have been volunteering with this organization for over four years now, and I absolutely love what they are doing. People are celebrated when they walk through the doors. It is almost like a family member invited you over for dinner and they are beaming with happiness when they open the door.

I always look forward to seeing Dr. John, a middle age Latino gentleman who tells me dirty jokes each week. Right now, he only comes for the meal, but I sincerely hope that he will soon talk to one of the social workers on site and get the help he needs.

I know many people who proudly volunteer for this great place and I was excited to contribute and see the place first hand at a fund raising event. The people who volunteer here and the wonderful family who run the Father's Heart Ministry clearly have such a love and passion for their work and I heard many stories about their successes in serving the neighborhood through the years. I was especially imporessed by the on site ice cream parlor that employs at-risk youth to help them learn about working and operating in a professional environment. That is the sort of true experience that really makes a difference to kids. Showing them how to do something rather than just throwing money at a problem. I'm a proud donor to this organization and I hope to also donate my time in volunteering. We need more places that are of this caliber!

I learned about Fathers Heart Ministry from my co-worker and was instantly excited at the prospect of being able to help. I had no idea what it was all about but was amazed at how organized and how amazing they are. It is amazing to see how many people they help, with such love, respect and dignity. I have to say that my first time volunteering i was speechless as I went about my tasks but still observing the faces of all who came in with such hope and left feeling the love that Fathers Heart Ministry was giving them. I went there to volunteer on a Saturday morning. It's a great place to give thanks for what you have and what is out there if you really need it. I feel so happy that I made someones morning that day. I helped out just a little bit and it made a great difference in their lives. Great place to have around!!! Working at Fathers Heart is an amazing experience. I went to work to help the less priviliged. I was the one who gained the most when it was all over. Fathers heart is truly serving in the name of Christ. I was reminded of the many places in the bible were it it says to help the poor, widows and children. the people being served are truley in need.

The people that came to be fed were treated like guests, were allowed to eat until there were full. They wre not rushed in or out and they were treated like they were honored guests. They were treated with the respect and humility they deserve.

I volunteer/volunteered at Father's Heart once. The experience I had there was amazing! It is run very efficiently. I came away feeling like I had just spent a few hours with amazing people who work hard to make NYC a better place.

The Father's Heart is a great place to volunteer. In pretty much any section where you serve (the kitchen, serving, cleaning, handing out groceries, etc.) you'll get a chance to interact with the guests who come in and impact them in unique ways.

Father's Heart is a wonderfully special place to serve our neighbors. I have had the privilege to serve with the Father's Heart staff and volunteers for over one year and it's been an truly amazing experience. It's a blessing to be there!

What a blessing it was serving at Father's Heart! I've helped out both on the prayer team as well as serving food, and it's amazing to see just how organized AND encouraging all staff members are. It's a wonderful thing to open up the place for a hot breakfast to those who want it almost every Saturday, and to provide such uplifting service.

I have served several times at Father's Heart Ministries. Each week up to 1,000 people are served a wonderful meal, provided with the opportunity to hear live music, and receive a bag of groceries. It is a huge endeavor but one that provides a chance for people to come together to serve the larger community and one that positively impacts so many lives each and every week.

Father's Heart is a place that serves the homeless and working poor of New York City. My wife and I have volunteered there since 2008 and have truly experienced life-changing moments.

I have had the pleasure of volunteering for Father's Heart for 5+ years in a variety of capacities, including helping with the Food Pantry, serving guests at the Soup Kitchen, teaching nutririon education for children and families at Kidzone and providing public relations and marketing support for the ice cream shop Alphabet Scoop. I've been impressed by the management of every program and the deep commitment by the administration and volunteers to provide help to those in need. The pastors care deeply about the population that they serve and they do their best to ensure the delivery of efficient and quality programs and services.

Father’s Heart provides food and other support to struggling New Yorkers with a rare combination of efficiency, dignity, and compassion. Not only do they supply immediate survival support, they have also launched an innovative jobs program, Alphabet Scoop. The organization I run, the New York City Coalition Against Hunger, works closely with them.

I've volneered at the father's heart and it was one of the most encouraging and satisfying mornings i've spent. To be able to help people in need AND to be part of a very well organized but very compassionate group is something I wish I could be part of more often.

I have had the pleasure of volunteering at Father's Heart and I was overwhelmed with what I saw. Not only were there well over 600 people served the day I was there, the amount of people willing to put aside their differences to serve was truly breath taking. Amidst the chaos that any organization feeding 100s and 100s of people may be, Father's heart really is a well run ship, blending perfectly efficiency and compassion. I left there that day feeling that if Father's Heart didn't exist the city would be exponentially worse off. If I would change something, I would try to have some of the stations set up a bit before hand and make sure that those that were serving knew their roles explicit. Overall Father's Heart was a fantastic experience for not only volunteers but those they serve.

Fathers Heart is probably one of the most effective, compassionate organizations I've ever had the priviledge to work with. The organization is run pretty efficiently and each Saturday, I see the benefits that the local community gets from this group. Not only does the program provide plenty of short-term support for individuals in need (ie: food, etc.), but it also provides long-term solutions for people looking to end the cycle of dependency (social services, English lessons, etc.).

Father's Heart is great ministry that offers alot of help (food, legal advice, doctors). i was a cleaner person and seeing the people and talking to them was a great experience and it wqas definitely an eye opener. They really care about their 'guests."

I have been serving as a volunteer for several months at Father's Heart Ministry experiencing first-hand the magnitude of many souls they have impacted through meeting the needs of the miss fortunate.

Serving here was an immense blessing! This is an opportunity to demonstrate love and really understand humanity. Aside from being actively involved in the feeding of the hungry, there are many other practical services offered by Father's Heart to break the cycle of poverty. Truly, the message of God is being portray here.

I've had the opportunity to serve at Father's heart on a regular basis. It is truly a blessing to serve people, to greet them with a smile, to put a plate of food in front of them, to go get them more sugar for their coffee. It truly is an honor to be able to serve these people and see them walk away different from the way they came in, with a bright smile on their faces. Father's heart feeds from 500-700 hundred people on Saturdays. It is so amazing how organized the whole process is.

I had the priviledge of volunteering to help feed those in need. It is an experience that one can only experience by being there, seeing the faces of those that are hungry and lonely in need. Just seeing the appreciation from these people of how they are fed and help in being directed to get social services for help in areas that they would be qualified for at the moment.

I had the pleasure of volunteering for Fathers Heart for the first time today and it was by far the best experience I could have. This organization helps people who cannot afford food. They also provide help with social services and many other things as well. They offer prayer for those in need of the Lord. I would go back and volunteer again.

I have had the pleasure of volunteering at this soup kitchen for many years . It is a blessing for the community. Guests come here and are fed an all you can eat restaurant style breakfast There is also live entertainment as they enter, Esl classes, Social services, and even legal help once a month, and lets not forget very needed one on one prayers. All guests are greated and treated with love and dignaty , As they leave they are offered a pantry bag and much blessings .

Good day, on Saturday Februray 12, 2011 I had the opportunity to do volunteer work at The Father Heart Ministries. Everything was organize to a "T". My job was to direct the needy to their seats so they can be fed. I had a great time talking and interacting with the needy and the other volunteers. I plan to return in March to offer my services again to a group of people i have grown to love.

The people at The Father's Heart are so genuine and real. Their love for people is obvious. They make serving fun and are an inspiration.

I've felt very blessed to have volunteered on occasion at their soup kitchen. The staff and volunteers do such amazing work and the help they provide their guests is more than physical, but spiritual as well.

What a pleasure it is to serve with the Father's Heart family! I've participated with a few of their programs and greatly appreciate not only the services they are providing but also the compassion and kindness with which they minister. The Father's Heart treats all of its guests (clients and volunteers) with caring respect. I have volunteered at the Father's Heart on a few occasions and have been blessed each time to be a part of the work they are doing. It is evident that the Father's Heart is a much appreciated service that is making an impact in the neighborhood. The joy is palpable as people are cared for - not only are immediate physical (food) needs met, but other help is offered to those who need guidance regarding financial resources, and the soul is ministered to as well - prayer is a key part of care for those who use the Father's Heart services.

I volunteered with Father's Heart ministries to serve meals to homeless and needy people. It was an organized and well run effort that efficiently served a high volume of needy people in a very short time. This is an effective and desperately needed service for the marginalized people in NYC and I hope to see it continue!

God's work is being done at The Father's Heart. The people who come to the food pantry receive not only a nutritious meal but also nourishment for their spirits. I saw many touching connections made between volunteers/staff and the visitors.

I was a volunteer for many years at the Father's Heart food pantry until health issues prevented me from serving any longer. During my years of service, I worked along side a staff that I felt was honest, loving and most of all givivg. They aways looked out for the needs of the people in the community that was less fortunate. Wether it be a smile, a prayer, or an open ear. You can be sure that the staff of the Father's heart made sure that when you came to the pantry, you left with more than just a full stomach. They made sure that you left with your emotion needs met, your mental needs met and your spititual needs met.

This was my first time at Fathers Heart and I'm definitely looking forward to volunteering again!

Father's Heart is such a blessing to so many people. The Lord is truly at the center of this ministry. Each time I volunteer I appreciate this organization more and more. Father's Heart wants to maintain the respect of the guests that they serve by keeping everything completely organized, the joyous music when the guests arrive, allowing each guest to eat as much as they desire, providing legal help and most importantly prayer. What a blessing it has been to serve in such a wonderful organization!!

Every time I go to Father's Heart I feel the Spirit moving. The people there are full of love and a passion to make a difference. Also, they offer what lasts. Not only do they offer t food and services such as legal advice and english classes, but they offer the Way, the Truth and the LIfe, Jesus Christ.
They also offer friendship and love to anyone and everyone who walks through their doors, and the people who come know they will be fed, and loved regardless if they are appreciative or say thank you.

The Father’s Heart is doing a tremendous job on the lower east side of New York. They have been loving and serving the community for many years. Father’s Heart is providing both practical and spiritual needs to individuals who are hurting and in need. I love how the ministry works hard to develop special bonds with each individual that walks through their doors. Every person is loved and served as if they were the only individual in the building. This is unique. The relationships that have developed due to this attention to detail is wonderful!!

I have volunteered on two different occasions with Father's Heart and both times was incredibly impressed with their mission and execution. In just three short hours, their leadership team is able to train & delegate dozens of employees, serve breakfast to 600-700 people, provide resource bags for all attendees to take on the way out, and have the place cleaned and ready for the next event! It was an incredible operation - and I worked in food service operations for seven years! Their efficiency and dedication to the mission of loving & serving anyone with need who comes through their doors was impressive, and the grace with which they opened their arms to the community was beautiful to be part of. May their work continue to bring great renewal to those whose lives are touched by it.

The mission of Father's Heart is wonderfully expressed everyday but especially during their Saturday soup kitchen breakfasts and is so powerful to experience. The fact that they not only provide nutritious food and life-saving services to the people they help but also treat them with respect and dignity is inspirational. I look forward to volunteering with this organization again and know that they respect my time by ensuring the volunteer efforts are well organized and efficient.

Well it was my first time ever volunteering for the homeless and I immediately thought that my experience would be too tough or dull and I was pleasantly surprised when I walked through the doors and the atmosphere was alive and energetic. I enjoyed my time at the Father's Heart and completely lost site that anyone was homeless because while being there it truly felt like I was in the father's heart. So 1000 thumbs up to this organization!

Well organized, fast paced, energetic place--I loved working the line on the grill. I cooked eggs for three hours and it was incredibly rewarding! I'd love to go back!

I've been to Father's heart few times and each time I'm there I can sense God's present. Everyone that is there came from different area and different back ground but all with one purpose. To devote there Saturday morning to do God's work and serve those who are less fortunate. First thought that came to mind was a church that is so old and is falling apart and they put God's children that are coming in first before theirs. It jerks my tears to know they are so dedicated to those they serve and makes me return to this place over and over again so I too can be part of this Father's heart ministries.

I've volunteered at Father's Heart several times and have always had a great experience there. I've set and cleaned tables, welcomed people, served breakfast, directed traffic, and prayed for the guests coming in. It's given me a bigger picture of the homeless and needy living in NYC. A very memorable experience came while listening to the story of a partially blind woman eating breakfast there. She told how she had lost her sight, had fallen on the street and injured her back. I listened as she told of family members who died. To hear her sad stories, my heart was softened, and I prayed for her there, asking for healing, for her to know and to experience God who loves her tremendously, and about the hope of heaven. My friend and I walked her home and she thanked us. As we said our goodbyes, I found myself hugging her. All of the guests have their own stories and each of them have worth. They are being helped both physically and spiritually at Father's Heart. God has been using Father's Heart in amazing ways, and I hope that it continues for many generations.

Father's heart ministry is an awesome place. Everyone is very caring and loving and is willing to help someone in need in any way possible. They provide as much food as someone who is need wants and they continue to show love to the whole community week after week.

I've volunteered here twice, once cleaning up tables, and once praying/talking with the people who would come for the meals. This is a great opportunity to serve those who are poor by giving them a meal to eat, as well as showing them that God and people care about them. Sometimes people want prayer, sometimes they just want someone to talk to, sometimes they just want a warm meal to fill them up. Both times I went the place was busy but in an organized way.

Father's Heart (FH) is a holistic ministry that addresses the needs of the socioeconomically disadvantaged by providing food, counseling, training and numerous other services to its guests. While the scope of its operations is quite ambitious, it's clear that FH is an invaluable source of hope and support for the community that it strives to serve.

I was fortunate to discover FH through Hope for New York (via Redeemer Presbyterian Church) when I moved to New York 6 months ago. I have begun serving/supervising regularly in its Hunger Prevention Program on Saturdays, which consists of a complimentary sit-down (all you can eat) breakfast and free bags of fresh groceries to guests in need.

It's shocking to see how many people that FH is serving on a regular basis. Generally about 500 guests come for breakfast and groceries, but I've seen as many as 750 (in a 2 hour span in one day). This alone speaks to FH's integral role in the community, and the love and respect that the guests receive when they come.

Father's Heart is a wonderful organization serving teens and the community. I was fortunate enough to tour and observe their services when visiting a friend in NYC.

I come here very frequently and love to help here. The visitors always leave happy and all the workers are glad to help. This is great!

I had an amazing experience serving at Father's Heart while on vacation visiting my daughter in NYC. Coming into contact and serving such a wide variety of people (both volunteers and guests) touched my heart in a profound way. I recommend getting involved with this organization whole-heartedly.

Over the past few years I have observed Father's Heart ministry orchestrate outreaches with such a mixture diverse individuals, groups and churches. They coordinate them in a way that creates a family atmosphere where every person is included and welcomed.
The opportunity it provides youth groups to serve others enriches and challenges every person involved. Few churches can do enough to help the growing hunger problem and they allow small or large denominations a place to join hands to work together. What a legacy of service, caring and discipleship they are giving to the city of New York!

Weather you're serving a hot plate or giving bags of food, the love and care at FHM is genuine. They're Organized and efficient. My children have been inspired by their passion. I was amazed to see how many people can be fed in one morning, and that was when we fed 300. Now they're feeding 700. They are truly Amazing. I think that the people come more to receive the warmth and love they feel rather than the food.

The staff of FHM is dynamically compassionate and competent. They are really cutting edge in terms of how to run an urban soup kitchen.

As a volunteer, I witnessed great administrative execution of their weekend food pantry; they fed many homeless and the socio-economic marginalized. They spread hope and good cheer and provided other helpful services. They were also able to recruit many volunteers in the New York Tri-state area.

I worked at The Father's Heart for a year as an AmeriCorps member. Prior to this I had administrative internships in nonprofit organizations and had done some sporadic volunteer work, but nothing I've done compares to the feeling of directly impacting a community in need and I couldn't have asked for a better assignment. I had always taken for granted having enough food and not thinking about where I was getting my next meal, but my experience here showed me that food insecurity is an enormous problem in NYC, and specifically in an increasingly gentrified area like the East Village.
Many of the volunteers tell me they come away with this same message of appreciation and gratitude. The group of regular volunteers, many who have been coming for years and years, speaks to the caliber of programs Father's Heart provides to combat hunger and poverty. Legal services, food stamps prescreening, and ESL classes are all offered during the Saturday breakfast. KidZone was a great time to get to know some of the families and children in the community and it was obvious they look forward to this every week.
The leadership at Father's Heart is what makes it special. The pastors are so dedicated to the organization's mission and I felt welcomed immediately. Each area (food pantry, kitchen, managing lines outside, prayer team) is staffed by volunteer supervisors. When I first came to FH they were very eager to share their knowledge with others and I was able to gain a more comprehensive understanding of everything offered at Father's Heart.

I work for an organization that leads groups around the world and my favorite place to serve is at The Father's Heart Ministry. We have been bringing teams to serve with this ministry for the past 8 years and I personally make sure that we serve at least one day during our week long stay in NYC. The groups love helping out with the breakfast on Saturdays and playing with the kids in KidZone. Hearing Pastor Vedral tell the story of how The Father's Heart was started is always inspiring. I love this ministry and the family that keeps it running.

I volunteered at Fathers Heart by working in the kitchen preparing food. Upon arrival I was greeted and instructed on how to complete the assigned task. I feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to help Fathers Heart complete their mission. This is a well run organization that provides a valuable and needed service to the homeless in NYC. This ministry is phenomenal from top to bottom. The quality of the product they deliver is superb. Their organization is incredible. Everything seems to run like a very well oiled machine. As a volunteer, I barely felt as if I was working!! The time when by quickly, the people I met and interacted with were great, At no point did I think of anyway they could improve! The people that were ministered to were treated very respectfully, with honor and Love. Each was treated as if they were a very special guest dining at a fine restaurant.

Father's Heart is such an awesome ministry. When I first volunteered there, I almost felt like God was calling me to reach out to the sweet old folks who are in need of His love and kindness. This ministry had truly made me understood what God's purpose is for my life. And the best was that I was able to use my ability to speak a 2nd language to spread the gospel to others! What a blessing that is! I highly, highly recommend this ministry to anyone who has a heart for others and to those who are ready to share the good news - news that despite of all our struggles, our Father in heaven truly loves us unconditionally. A great organization who provides a valuable service to the local community.

Father's Heart is a wonderful ministry in the East Village that serves it's community wholeheartedly. It's been an honor to be a part of Father's Heart as a volunteer, supervisor and team leader representative for Hope for New York the past couple years. Father's Heart embraces and truly serves guests not only with meals but by putting on emphasis on restoring dignity. Each Saturday, 60 volunteers serve 700 guests an all-you-can-eat breakfast in an extremely organized manner that allows interaction with guests and working together. I highly recommend Father's Heart due to it's extensive programs including legal services and ESL as well as the large impact it has had in the community.

Father's Heart is a place where God's love is demonstrated through many individuals working together doing simple deeds. This is a valuable community organization which provide a safe place for those who are in need of food, community, rest, legal advice, access to social workers, ESL classes, and prayer. It addresses some of the guests' basic needs so they can focus on other areas in their lives that need attention.

I learned of Father's Heart through my daughter who is involved with many aspects of this organization. My family,who lives in Cincinnati, was lucky enough to volunteer at the soup kitchen on a Sat. when we were visiting NYC around Thanksgiving. What a special environment to work in. You can feel the love when you enter the doors and are greated and treated as if you are being welcomed into someone's home.

This very old building serves so many deserving individuals each week with many aspects of life. It would be a shame if because of the condition of the building (not lack of manpower or food) that this facility would have to close. Please consider a donation.

I have been a Supervisor at The Father's Heart Ministry for 3.5 years now. This organization has literally changed my life - it has shown me what compassion looks like in a city of extremes. I have seen the founders and pastors brought to tears because their hearts are breaking for the guests they see. I have never seen such love given to people who are often overlooked. It has taught me that life is about more than just me - it's about taking what we have and using it to help those less fortunate. The Father's Heart offers a variety of programs to meet people where they are at. I volunteer almost every Saturday they are open for their Hunger Prevention Program and I look forward to it each week. It's become a second home to me.

Father's Heart Ministries is an amazing organization that does SO much for the community it serves. Through its various programs, the members of the neighborhood have come to rely on Father's Heart and many have come to turn their lives around. This organization is an inspiration and reminds me that even in the darkness, there is always light.

Father's Heart is truly an anchor to the East Village community. Their approach to service, rooted in unconditional love and acceptance, is unique and its success is apparent in the faces of all those who walk through the door each week. Every time I serve at Father's Heart I leave with my hope restored. If you can get on the list, it's completely worth it to to go and see for yourself....even on a Saturday morning at 8:00 AM!!!!

The only reason this doesn't get five stars is that I am still new to the ministry, and yet they've won four stars in my book easily.

I have got to know their leadership, which has decades of experience in the neighborhood they serve, and am convinced that not only do they deliver superior services to people in need, but they do so cost-effectively.

Father's Heart is embarking on a campaign fund delivery of even more services than before to more people. And they're not raising money to put up new bricks and mortar or to add unnecessary functionalities. They are simply restoring what has been in place in their neighborhood for 140 years: a church building that has served generations of New Yorkers.

Because of their dedicated leadership, the volunteers they have recruited, and the planning for the future that they have undertaken, I have every confidence their work will continue to bear fruit for people in need.

Once I am around them for a few more months, I'm sure another star will appear on my review!
