Mission: To preserve the historic integrity of the fargo theatre while expanding the theatre's ability to meet the artistic and entertainment needs of increasingly diverse audiences, performers and filmmakers. To effectively maintain a state of the art screen and stage for critically acclaimed film and classic film, live theatre, special events and tours. To ensure a home for the mighty wurlitzer theatre pipe organ. To serve as an anchor for a vital downtown. To honor our past providing an unbroken thread of common entertainment and educational experience for generations of fargo-moorhead residents and visitors.

Programs: One of the missions of the fargo theatre is to meet the artistic and entertainment needs of increasingly diverse audiences, performers and filmmakers. The fargo theatre screened 52 first run films, 10 classic films, 14 children film series, 2 midnight/late film, provided area organizations a place to screen local films, continued our north dakota state university art film series and hosted 65 live events. The diversity of films and live events provides the community a wide selection of independent and main stream performances to view. The fargo theatre is open 364 days a year for movies allowing the community to view a variety of films in a historical setting and to host a variety of live events. The fargo theatre averages more than 67,000 people each year in the different movie/events held at the theatre. The long-term objective is to continue to meet the artistic and entertainment needs of the community as the community continues to grow.

the fargo film festival receives films submissions from around the world to be juried by community volunteers. The goal of the film festival is to celebrate film artistry while connecting local audiences to innovative, independent cinema. An estimated 301 films were submitted to the 2017 festival for consideration. A total of 101 were selected to be screed over a period of five days. The fargo film festival draws audience members from all over the region. Approximately 3,000 patrons attended the 2017 event. Thirty-nine filmmakers/actors/producers came to the fargo film festival to support their screenings and interact with audiences. These appearances allowed for formal educational opportunities through panel discussions and workshops, as well as informal opportunities for audience members and local filmmakers to socialize with these burgeoning artists. The festival's long-term objective is to continue providing an exhibition platform for independent filmmakers while giving local audiences the chance to see unique, original, and artistically relevant motion pictures.
