I learned about the charity while listening to Ed Randall 's Sunday show while I was in NY on WFAN New York radio. My PSA was elevated and I was scheduled for a prostate biopsy. I emailed Ed on a Saturday morning for information on prostate cancer. I received a telephone call from Ed on Sunday morning (less than 24 hours after I emailed him) which lasted about 45 minutes. He provided information and asked how I was doing. I was astounded how quickly he answered my email but this is the way Fans for the Cure operates if you need help, information, referrals, etc. Their biweekly Zoom meetings with survivors has helped survivors and newly diagnosed with the prostate cancer journey. I can't say enough about the important work they do.

Results: Fans for the Cure has provided screenings to thousands of men at ballparks, health fairs, and other live events. The charity has pivoted to support groups, where it conducts over 50 sessions per year for over 1,500 men and women. Its two-year-old podcast has been voted as the #1 prostate cancer podcast in the U.S. by four separate companies that rate health-related podcasts.

Direct beneficiaries per year: 200 medical referrals, 325 free screenings, 400 telemedicine interviews, over 1,500 support group attendees.

Programs: Fans for the Cure provides awareness, education, and screening programs for men with prostate cancer and their families. The charity offers Men's and Women's Support Groups, a monthly (or 2x monthly) podcast with urologists and others, free screenings in collaboration with healthcare partners, online webinars, and community initiatives to address poor outcomes and high mortality rates in Black and low-income communities.
