I was a battered woman.....the shelter was not established when I needed the help....When I saw there was one in my area, I started to donate....I had a good job, was raising my sons on my own but was still affected by all the years of abuse....Now that I am retired, I have been an advocate for the shelter for abused women . My church has been donating food, clothing, paper products and many other items that will help families get started on their own.. We will continue to donate as long as there is a need, and unfortunately, there will always be a need. My heart and prayers go out to these women and their children....Those of us with sons, really need to educate them about abuse of any kind and what it can do and that it is wrong.....Those of us with daughters need to educate them about self esteem and how to stand up for themselves..Not to settle for low standards....NO ONE deserves to be abused.
