Causes: Homeless & Housing, Homeless Centers, Human Services
Mission: Family promise of orange county is an interfaith hospitality network of congregations that provide emergency shelter, hospitality, and services to homeless families. Our goal is to eliminate their homelessness and place each family in a home of their own in about two months.
Programs: Interfaith hospitality network: provides up to 2 months of emergency shelter for families in crisis. Families stay as the guests of local congregations in the evenings who provide shelter, food, and hospitality. Each day families return to our "day center" located in orange, where they look for work and receive counseling, budget assistance or other services as needed. All food items, nightly sleeping spaces, and our day center are donated by congregations. Donated services and facilities total $194,544.
jacob's house transitional housing: provides temporary shelter for families. Families stay for up to 6 months in a static site transitional living home while working towards their independence. Families in this program receive the same supportive services as those in our interfaith hospitality network. Donated rent discounts total $57,600.
supplemental nutritional and cooking program (snac): this program provides non-perishable groceries and cooking classes to homeless and formerly homeless families.
