Mission: The purpose of family promise of hall county, inc. Is to unite the religious community of the county in efforts to provide shelter, meals, counseling, and support for homeless families.
Programs: The 90-day short term housing program partners with a network of local community host churches that house the program's families in their facilities each evening. About 4-5 times per year the host churches provide the families with lodging, evening meals and hospitality for one week increments. During the day, if not at work, the families are at the day center (the hub of the program) working closely with the family advocate on their individual case plan. Day center: guests use the local day center from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, where a professional social worker provides case management services. There, guests pursue employment, tend to pre-school children, shower, and do laundry. The day center provides guests with a mailing address and a base for housing and employment searches. Volunteers: volunteers come from host and support congregations. They cook and serve meals, play with and provide homework assistance to children, interact with guests, and provide overnight security. Transportation: a 15-passenger van is used each morning and evening to transport families to and from host congregation and the day center. A truck or trailer is available to carry bedding and personal belongings to the new host congregation.
little steps community day care is a free, temporary child care option for families referred to family promise by our community partner agencies. It provides parents with quality child care while they are searching for employment, interviewing for jobs, awaiting eligibility for government sponsored child care, attending mandated classes or waiting for the first paycheck to be deposited. This service can bridge the gap while a parent is waiting for assistance from government funding to begin or during the time it takes to secure a higher paying job.
the next step affordable housing program provides affordable housing opportunities to graduates of the family promise 90-day program. While staying in these homes the families are case managed, have home visits to ensure the home is being cared for properly, and are required to attend l. I. F. E. Program classes. Families are also required to set aside savings each month as if they were paying rent (which will be returned to them upon finding permanent affordable housing) and pay utilities each month.
