I found family promise in 2019. Exactly 4 months before the pandemic. Family promised welcomed my 3 children and I. They supported us with affordable housing, food and resources at a time when life seemed so rocky. They supported us until we were stable. Thanks to family promise I now have a secure Job , stable housing, and a savings account. My children and I will be forever grateful for the love and support we have received from Family Promise! We can now stand on out two feet and we will never forget everything that we have learned.
The Deacons at FPCAmbler have worked with Family Promise for years. It has been a joy to help them support the homeless and less fortunate people in our community. They are doing an amazing job!
As a Deacon at FPCAmbler I have worked with Family Promise to provide for the underserved in our community. Everyone shows empathy and kindness which is so very needed in our world today.
The staff of Family Promise shine with the heart and passion to combat homelessness and food insecurity - and with smiles!

Family Promise Montco PA is making a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need, The passionate staff provides more than just shelter; they offer hope, guidance, and the tools needed for families to regain their independence. Family Promise's commitment to creating a supportive community volunteer network is an example of the positive change that can happen when people come together to support one another.
Always love volunteering at Family Promise! They do amazing work and I’m so lucky to be able to take part in such a great organization!
What a great place. They do so so much for the community! While helping our neighbor, families are given a stepping stone to success! So grateful to all parts of Family Promise- the temporary housing, the food cupboard and the transitional apartments… way to go guys! Great stuff.
I work in the town of Ambler and was introduced to Family Promise many years ago. When I found out what they did for the community and surrounding areas in terms of helping families, I knew I had to get involved. With my full-time schedule at Ambler Savings Bank, I wanted to help with a committee at Family Promise. They asked me if I have ever volunteered at any golf outings. I was so excited as I had actually helped run a few outings for other non-profits throughout the years. I quickly jumped at the chance to be on their golf outing committee which happens to be their biggest fundraiser of the year. The other volunteers and staff I get to work with every year at Family Promise are such a joy. Everyone is so committed to the goal of helping out families and individuals that deserve a second chance to make their future a brighter one.
Our church hosts families in the Family Promise program. All their employees and volunteers are so kind to all the families and also the program is so well organized. The staff ensures that each family's needs are met and guides them through the process of moving from unhoused to having their own place. It's an amazing organization and I'm glad to support them financially and as a volunteer!
I love what this nonprofit organization does my view is that it is a Very important stepping stone for so many people that have fallen on hard time along with their children otherwise they may be living in their car or the streets. I have volunteered for two years through my Church, first year driving a Mom and her 3 children from a Church to the day center and then back to the Church this year I volunteered as a sit in in the evenings as the families came back to a church to sleep. My experience was Incredible with having been in a similar experience many years ago and fell on hard times being able to give back is a Blessing. what I loved most was my conversations with some of the Moms they were grateful for this nonprofit organization that gave them a safe place to put their children to sleep at night along with themselves and a Hot meal bf bed. I love playing with the kids and making them laugh to having great talks with the Moms while they understood they were not being judged just being cared for and about and that this nonprofit was here for them to give a Wonderful stepping stone in their time of need. Everyone on this Earth has needed a stepping stone in one way or another. Blessings to this Wonderful nonprofit organization Family Promise.
Family Promise Montco PA, formerly Inter-Faith Housing Alliance lives out the Gospel and is an amazing organization. In in nutshell, it is many different faiths coming together with one common goal and one common purpose and that is to help families maintain their human dignity while transitioning from housing insecurity to housing stability. I am proud to be a part of this organization because it does what it sets out to do and that is to help families and human beings at a very difficult time of their life.
Please consider supporting this amazing organization with a financial gift or the gift of your time/talent.

We have been working with Family Promise Montco for a few years now and have truly enjoyed the experience of partnering with them to serve the community. Their staff is extremely passionate about the work they do and this is felt through everything they do. It's been a pleasure volunteering here and working together to serve the community.
Our church loves working with Family Promise Montco, they both tirelessly serve their clients and warmly welcome volunteers and mission partners. Their involvement in the community and careful consideration of the needs of those they serve make it a very easy YES to partnering with them.
I was able to volunteer with my peer team to help turnover apartments. The work that this organization does is truly amazing for the community and the people it helps. You never realize how little people have until you are able to see just what an organization like Family Promise MontCo can do for those less fortunate.
Family Promise is an amazing charity for our community. I love learning about all that they do to help support the community. They are always so grateful when we come to volunteer and we always have an amazing time doing it!
We helped clean out two apartments and have the stairwell a refresh. The team at Family Promise Montco were amazing!
This organization has been instrumental in our community and continues to be an inspiring piece of our area. We appreciate everything they do to help bring independence to families in need
Kayla was very welcoming and educated us about the organization and their outreach work. This organization mission and values align with mine and I appreciate all the great work they are doing.
It was amazing to see how Family Promise supports families as they navigate homelessness. We were able to directly help get apartments ready for new families! Thanks! -starbucks
I have been volunteering with Family Promis Montco for several months. I work weekly with staff at the main office in Ambler. They are a dedicated, hard-working, and welcoming group! They move through their work with the Family Promise mission at the center. Their goal is supporting families struggling with a lack of shelter resources, through emergency shelter, temporary housing, job support, and daily living supplies and they meet that goal successfully. They are respectful and engaging and have created a team of community partners to enhance their mission. Family Promise has built a base of organizations and individuals who dedicate hours and hours to created safe spaces for families. They are skilled at pivoting when special problems arise, such as the pandemic in 2020 and quickly adjust their work. I can't say enough about this amazing organization!
I enjoyed collaborating with Family Promise for our MLK Day of Service! They were kind, compassionate, and easy to work with. I hope to work with them in the future to support families in the Montco. community!
Spent the morning volunteering at the food pantry and the afternoon volunteering to plant trees for residents. Great day with AKAs
Great organization, have helped with food donations to their pantry and repairs to the Hope Gardens apartments.
Kyla is awesome to work with. Family Promise gives back alot to the community. It was a pleasure to help out with the volunteering several times at Hope Gardens
Family Promise shows that they really value the promise to help families in a time of need. From personal to professional, everyone at Family Promise will be there every step of the way.
As a community member, I've had great experiences volunteering with Family Promise Montco. Our company has done multiple days of service there. All the staff is friendly and purpose-driven. The work is meaningful and we know it directly has an impact on the people they serve to better their housing security.
Great organization! I have had a great time volunteering here and recommend it to everyone. The staff is amazing and super kind. Volunteering here is a great use of free time and it's fun!
This place is awesome! They are a great organization that takes care of struggling families. We volunteer here and they treat us great! They give us snacks and make sure we use our time well while we are here. Definitely recommend this place.
I've been a volunteer here for 4 months and the staff is the freaking best! They always have snacks, and are always very kind and charitable.
P.S. ask Kyla about Minecraft, and tell Devon Elder Chamberlain says hi!
I have lived in the Community for 38 Years and have passed the Inter-Faith Housing Alliance Facility in Ambler many times over the years and did not realize their Mission till 2021. With the passing of my Wife of 41 years in March 2021, I retire from the Philadelphia Electric Company (PECO). Now retired I was looking to keep busy and give back to my Community in a positive manner. My neighbor Bob told me about Inter-Faith Housing Alliance and how he and his Church have been assisting the Alliance. I have been involved volunteering with maintenance around the various housing units. It has been both rewarding in many ways assisting those in need in both small and large ways. The interaction with people from all walks of life has been fun and enlightening. The Families we assist are Pleasant and most Grateful for all the assistance they receive from everyone from everywhere. The Staff; Marsha E., Sue Z. Debbie B. etc. etc. have made family Promise Montco PA (aka - Inter-Faith Housing Alliance) a welcoming place for not only those in need but those of us looking to have rewarding retirement years. I look forward to volunteering for those in need for many years to come. Thank You to All who Make the World a Better Place ! Ed P., Blue Bell, PA
I first came to know about Family Promise Montco PA in my role as church administrator at one of the churches that support Family Promise. I served in my church for 26 years and over that period of time learned about the programs provided by Family Promise, participated in our church's support, worked closely with the caring, knowledgeable staff and helped in different ways. Our church was one of the first to host the Hospitality Network in Ambler. I can't begin to describe the amazing work that is provided by the staff, coordinating with churches and the community to help folks find their way out of homelessness. Now, as a retiree, I volunteer with Family Promise, doing volunteer work in the office and help with residents as needed. I see first hand the help that is offered to folks in our community. I look forward to the days when I am helping at FP, doing Kingdom work as I call it. The services provided and the stories of success for families with FP are just... AMAZING!
This is a wonderful powerhouse organization that has done, and continues to do, so much for so many that have needed, and for those who still still need, need temporary, transitional and permanent housing. As the former President, and a former Board Member for over 15 years, I have had the pleasure and honor of watching this organizational grow into a key member of the community in which it serves. With a strong Executive Director, committed staff and hard working Board, Inter-Faith Housing Alliance has become the go-to organization that other organizations have come to rely upon in the ever growing and necessary housing area. This organization and its objectives is well worth supporting.
Inter-Faith Housing Alliance is always working to help families in the community in any way they can, from the food cupboard to the housing programs. Truly a great program and organization.
Inter-Faith Housing Alliance is a great partner and so easy to work with. We had a family of three staying out our shelter and they really needed a longer term solution. The staff worked to help us get the family transferred to their transitional housing. This truly was the last option for this family as they could not secure an apartment in their name at this time. The staff is incredibly efficient and goes above and beyond for all their families.

I have worked with I-FHA for many years. I have volunteered there and have also referred families there. No matter what the capacity I am always struck by the staff and volunteers. They all go above and beyond. They are willing to help each family in any way they can. They treat each family with dignity and respect. The staff meets them where they are and gives them the skills needed to become self sufficient and move on to their next phase with confidence. I would refer any family to this organization.
This organization is wonderful! They provide family based services in my local community and have been very helpful. They are well connected and helpful. InterFaith is a gem in MontoCo. Always willing to help and go beyond the call of duty.
I am happy to make a donation to Inter-Faith to help families, especially children, in need of encouragement during challenging times. Inter-Faith's focus on helping the children with their school supplies is just one way I've witnessed the compassion and thoughtfulness of this organization helping families in their journey to stability.
Inter-Faith Housing Alliance is a top notch organization. They provide compassionate, loving solutions to families in crisis. Thanks to their wonderful staff and hundreds of volunteers, many families and children now live a better life.

I have volunteered with I-FHA for over a year and I am continually amazed at the commitment of every staff member to their mission of serving families in need of Housing in Montgomery County, PA. I help out with administrative tasks in the office, and have worked at the annual Golf Tournament fundraiser. I feel very proud to be a small asset to this essential non-profit.
This is a great organization that serves those in need and more importantly provides them tools to succeed going forward. They provide housing, support and inspiration to adults and their children. They have enabled many consumers to move up in their lives.
Interfaith Housing is full of very kind and loving people with their motives completely on others' and their wellbeing! They're very loving to the many people they are helping and literally saving. The apartments are very nice and well kept! I've thoroughly enjoyed serving and volunteering here to help in their great cause!
This place is awesome! I have been here volunteering here for around a month. The staff are so kind and your faith is very respected. I love the kind environment that has been established here. It's a great experience every time I volunteer here.
This has been a very good experience. We are always treated with such love from everyone and when we work they give us good instructions and food! It has been an experience to remember and I love talking with everyone here. Hope to have some more great interactions with everyone here.
I volunteer here every week and it is so great. I have a lot of fun and everyone is so kind! This is a great place!
I've seen the impact of Inter-Faith Housing Alliance through volunteerning with my work. The organization takes pride in its properties, keeping apartments upated and safe, while striving to be a good neighbor.
As the founder of Inter-Faith Housing Alliance it was always my dream to be able watch the organization grow to a point that I was no longer needed. I retired from full participation in 2012 and the organization has grown beautifully since then, all due to the fabulous Executive Director, staff and board of Directors. Everyone's unwavering dedication to the families we serve is impressive and a joy to watch. Volunteers continue to regularly offer time and talent to keep things running smoothly at all facilities. Unlike a lot of non-profit organizations the majority of the budget has always been through private rather than government funding which assures longevity and efficiency. This is a fabulous organization!
Inter-Faith Housing Alliance is an amazing organization devoted to helping the community. The dedicated staff and volunteers are truly making a difference by providing services to families. I am proud to be a supporter and volunteer.
My 4-H Club provided Easter baskets to IFHA the last two years. We hope that they were enjoyed by the recipients as much as we enjoyed making them. We also helped out with clean-up last summer. Just waiting for the opportunity to help again.
My name is James Weiss. I am the Head of the St Thomas, Whitemarsh Barn, which is a nonprofit rummage sale. The St Thomas Barn usually holds eight sales a year, every second Saturday from May to November (with two sales in September). With the coronavirus pandemic, we have had to close our doors; but we are in the process of establishing an online barn store. We get donations of all kinds, including furniture. I have a relationship with Sue Zomberg at Interfaith Housing. Interfaith is one of the charities that St Thomas Barn has supported for years. They are a great organization that helps people who have become homeless get back into housing. They do a fantastic job. I know from first-hand experience. I talked to Sue Zomberg just today (9/21/20) about a range of subjects, including: The Roslyn food cupboard, Hope Gardens in Ambler; and a few particular clients whom I have helped with furniture donations. The Saint Thomas Barn supports Interfaith Housing wholeheartedly.
Staff are so nice to volunteer with. I recommend checking them out if you are interested in volunteering as an individual or organization.

Interfaith staff do an outstanding job of orienting volunteers into the spirit of the organization. In a welcoming and "partnering with" manner, they assist newer volunteers to understand their role, and what is helpful. They are exceedingly professional in all preparations while maintaining a very open and flexible posture. For years now, Interfaith has provided a foothold for folks who are financially vulnerable. The myriad of support services that surround those in the program offer a sustaining path toward a stronger, successful future. I am very impressed with the program and enjoy participating as a volunteer. Marilyn Frazier, MSW, LSW
My support with this wonderful organization has been providing meals to a specific family in need residing at Interfaith and well as donating food & supplies to their food distribution center in Roslyn. Everyone who works there is kind & appreciative of any help. Interfaith truly serves those in our community in need.
Inter-faith Housing Alliance is an amazing nonprofit that brings communities together and provides volunteers the chance to see humanity behind homelessness. I have been a volunteer for over 20 years, as a matter of fact my kids grew up helping and playing with the inter-faith families and their kids. And now my granddaughter helps, she loves meeting new friends every year and some of the families we have kept in touch with over the years. I have witnessed so many success stories for those who have been a part of the program. The staff is loving, caring, compassionate and dedicated which makes the program work!
Inter-faith is a great organization that helps people transition from homelessness to being stably housed.
Volunteering with I-FHA for over ten years. Well organized, caring programs. Lots of community support. Great staff and utilizes student internships and Church and Congregation for support. Board is one of the most dedicated I’ve ever seen and I have worked with many. If you can only support one non profit, it should be this one!
My husband, son, & I lived at Hope Gardens 2014-2016 and we were one of the families that didn't complete the 2 year program. Everything was fine when Jude H. was the casemanager but once Malika, the case manager after jude started, everything went wrong for us. My family is very greatful for given the help, however, IFHA ended up not helping us & instead, made things worse for us. Marsha E. the Executive Director did not like my family from the start. She was not nice nor helpful. My family suffers from mental illness and this program had no services for families living with mental illness. After Malika started, her & Marsha treated my family different from the other tenants. We were the only Caucasian family in the building and there were so many occasions where we had to do things that the other tenants didnt have to do. Or the other tenants would get special privledges & we wouldn't. The required casemanager meetings every week did nothing but put my family down and made us feel horrible about ourselves. The educational meetings were always being canceled & when they werent canceled, they were pointless & not educational & no one even would show up. The pantry on-site was always empty and when there was food, it was expired. The mice problem in the apartments was so out of control & all the "exterminator" did was spray some chemical around the baseboards & who knows what he was spraying. The executive director violated so many tenant-landlord laws. And also each apartment was sponsored by a church that was supposed to mentor us but they would never give us their contact info. Prior to moving in, my family was working with Habitat for Humanity and we were up for a home in Bridgeport. However, Marsha & Malika got involved with the executive director from habitat & had meetings with them about my family & Jude told us that Marsha & Malika talked so poorly on my family & tried their hardest to get them to not sell us a home. Right before we were supposed to move in, sure enough, Habitat found ways to kick us out. My family put a discrimination complaint in with HUD & PHRC & after things got even worse. They really interfered with our right to enjoy our home. And they retaliated against us by evicting us. So we didnt qualify for their after care program, we didnt get our deposit back, & we lost our support with out church at First Presbyterian that we were attending prior to moving into Hope Gardens. They became a partner with IFHA once Malika started. Imagine that. My family was homeless for 2 years after getting evicted from IFHA. And since they are affiliated with almost every program and organization in Montco, no one wanted to help us anymore. So entering IFHA ruined my family mentally, emotionally, & physically. There should be a section on here that totals the number of families each year that failed their programs. There should also be a section on here for any complaints or grievances they received. I believe by experience that IFHA might be misusing their funds & grants. They really should be investigated from back in 2014-2016. But no one wants to hear from the actual clients of the programs to get proof if an organization is actually doing what they say they are doing or if its just words on paper to look good for funding purposes. IFHA should help every family that enters into their program & if a family is struggling, they shouldnt be treated badly & just be kicked out with no where to go & no other supports. They shouldve worked with us and helped us, not hurt us. If a family fails ur program, its because of your program. U should also take accountability for your actions & negligence.
Review from Guidestar
I have volunteered at this organization periodically over the the past 3 years. The work they do for the individual clients and the community is unmeasurable. Each employee shows empathy and is fully motivated to assist a family, no doubts or distractions hold them back. By being an advocate for a family, Inter-Faith has facilitated opportunities for housing, food, clothing, and more for numerous families throughout the county.
Volunteered here recently for a work event. Don't do a lot of this kind of thing so I wasn't sure what to expect but the staff was very welcoming. There were a lot of opportunities for myself and my co-workers to different work depending on our interests and abilities. I wasn't aware that there was an organization like this in my community or even that there was a need for it honestly. Gave me a lot to think about and I will definitely be going back to help out again soon!
Great place to volunteer for with an awesome mission. Would highly recommend as a place to give your time and/or money. This organization that works to support families in need so you know that it is a place worth promoting.
IFHA is a much needed organization, the staff are very dedicated, compassionate and strive to provide the best services to the people they serve. I called Marsha and her staff God's
Inter-Faith Housing Alliance provides great services to families in need of assistance, and is a wonderful organization to be involved with. If you are looking to make an impact on your community, I highly recommend working with them.
I found this hope gardens to be deplorable. I would visit a friend of mine that used to live there and the whole apartment building had a mice problem that was never resolved. She said all the tenants had this issue and nothing was done. They would give the residents expired food out of the pantry there and act like they were doing something nice. This so called non profit forced my friend to give them $250 MONTHLY for her so called savings acct, but they never told her what bank they were putting the money in nor gave her a banking statement...this place needs to be looked into, sounds fishy to me, thank God shes not there anymore!
Inter-Faith was with my family every step of the way. We couldn't have done it without them. It is exciting to have a place of our own.
A well-respected organization that has been helping families for over 30 years. Am proud to have served as a volunteer for many years!

From the ashes of a small committee working on a food cupboard to InterFaith Housing Alliance has been a long and beautiful trip. Catching a vision of what could be, housing the homeless became our passion. From church to church housing to Hope Gardens apartments and now our home on Forest Avenue (Hope Forest) volunteers and good staff have enriched the lives of our community by helping the homeless become home owners, solid renters, and a people who have a resource to encourage them on their way to self respect and community involvement.
It's been a really great ride! Ron Lutz - retired pastor - former Board member

Ron--Thank you for this review, and for your longtime support of Inter-Faith. We couldn't have done it without you! Here's to many more years of helping families together!
IFHA has been excellent in helping families during tough times in their life overcome homelessness. They offer many resources that help one become stable again, as well as counseling services to help resolve personal matter that could hinder ones growth. After leaving their program, they continue to help families with obtaining funding, food, gifts, clothing, and much more. Overall my experience with IFHA was great. I would refer anyone to them that is a time of need. Thank you IFHA for all you do!

We are so happy to have you join us, Barbara! Thanks for your review!
I volunteered/worked part time at Inter-Faith Housing Alliance for two consecutive summers while I was a student in college. When I first started out, all I knew was that I-FHA provided emergency and temporary shelter to those experiencing homelessness in the Montgomery County area. It wasn’t until after I had been there for a few weeks that I realized how much more than that this organization is. I-FHA is a wonderful non-profit that truly believes in helping the families they serve. They take in families who are often experiencing the worst time in their lives and put a roof over their heads, food in their stomachs, and hope in their hearts. The staff, every member of which is kind, knowledgeable, and dedicated, invests time and effort in sitting down with their clients and helping them map out exactly what they are going to do to improve their life situations. Then, they actually work hard to help make that goal become a reality, offering numerous programs that are designed to effectively teach and support clients so that they are able to not only obtain, but also keep stable housing. The work that is done at this non-profit is powerful and impactful - nothing short of amazing.
I continue to keep in touch with I-FHA to this day, occasionally doing miscellaneous tasks to help further their goals, and have never regretted choosing to dedicate my time to them. I believe in Inter-Faith Housing Alliance and their mission to make homelessness in Montgomery County brief, rare, and nonrecurring.

I didn't know what to expect when I moved into Hope Gardens. I had a really nice apartment, paid rent and was also able to save money. When I left two years later I moved into my own place with my kids. I'm greatful to the staff and the volunteers who supported me.

It is wonderful to hear that a "graduate" is doing so well! Please keep in touch!
I used to live at Inter Faith's Shelter Program not too long ago. I heard years ago how wonderful this program used to be. It has changed for the worst. I wasn't there that long but I heard from numerous people that lived there how bad it became. For me, I got nothing out of it. It was a complete waiste of time for me. Its hard trying to work on bettering your life when the entire staff is just miserable and unhelpful. I lived at 2 other shelters and i never had so many problems at those shelters as i did at Interfaith in Ambler. I don't reccomend this place to anyone.
Review from Guidestar
My church became involved with this organization over 20 years ago by inviting suburban homeless and their families into our church for one month a year through this organization's "Hospitality Network". One month a year (every March) our church provides meals, transportation, overnight accommodations and other services for these people who for no reason of their own find themselves without a home. Many of these people move to Interfaith's 8 unit apartment building, where they can have a "home of their own", paying a small portion of ther income, if any, while they are assisted in getting back on their feet. They receive emotional support, counseling, financial counseling and job search assistance from this wonderful organization. About a year and a half ago, after retiring from my job, my friend and I offered our volunteer assistance, doing maintenance on Interfaith's apartment building, "Hope Gardens". We have seen first hand the hope that Interfaith gives to these people who otherwise might have no help. We have gotten to know the Interfaith staff and have seen how dedicated these people are to making life better for the suburban homeless of Montgomery County, PA.
