Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Children & Youth, Youth Development

Mission: Founded in 1993 by Nellie Bradwell, FMC believes that children are being neglected, regardless of socio-economic status primarily as a byproduct of parental and community fixation upon survival and/or the ever-elusive success goals. FMC has chosen to provide direct services to children and youth because the window of opportunity to empower children and youth is open briefly. FMC must act and act now through after-school, summer, and camping programs directed toward educational enrichment. Ideally FMC instills virtues and goals-setting/administration principles which, if successful, will empower them and develop leadership skills from age 5 through the completion of college. Experientially, the ravages of peer, familial, and societal pressures attract them away from this support as early as eleven years of age. FMC's goal is to empower children, through supplementing parental and other support group efforts, not through supplanting or usurping because "it takes a village to rear a child."
