Family Life Center

Programs: Recreational specialists use sports and recreation programs to engage disconnected youth in pro-social activities, encourage teens to participate in regular physical fitness and to connect community youth to other on-site services, including mental health care and educational support. Recreational activities currently held at the youth center include: through all of flc recreational programs, we served 1500 children in 2014.

homework help & the advantage afterschool programs serve students each day by assisting them through the critical and difficult elementary and middle-school and high school years. In addition to serving as tutors & mentors,afterschool coordinators advocate for at risk children at their school. The program trains and employs local high school students as counselors. In 2014, flc served 185 students. Family life centers chorus-in partnership with usdan center for the creative&performing arts,children ages 5-12 receive voice instruction from a trained choral leader & piano accompanist. The choral program is held each tuesday and thursday at the wyandanch youth center. In 2014, flc served 50 students. Wiz kids robotics club-young people ages 6-10 years old are introduced to real-world engineering challenges by building lego-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. The club will participate in the annual robotics competition. Flc had a team of 12

family life center operates a stem bases summer camp for children grades k-6. Academic instruction is paired with fun summer experiments and activities that focus on science, technology, engineering and math disciplines. This summer we served 54 children.
