Mission: Family and Community Enrichment Services, Inc. (FACES, Inc.) has provided 33 years of service to the residents of San Mateo County. The agency's mission "to strengthen families and build a healthier community" has been a vital and integral part of the San Mateo County services to children, youth, and adults striving to achieve optimal health and wellbeing, since the early 1970's. Beginning as an alternative to the juvenile justice system for youth coming into contact with law enforcement, FACES, Inc. has expanded to serve approximately 4,750 persons per year through ten different programs. FACES, Inc. provides a wide variety of programming including alcohol/drug recovery programs and mental health services. Over FACES, Inc.'s history in San Mateo County, the agency has worked closely with law enforcement, schools, San Mateo County Probation, Health and Human Services Agencies of San Mateo County, and other community-based organizations.
Programs: -Family Counseling Center- Family, individual (child and adult), couples, and group counseling. Referrals from schools, law enforcement, community agencies and the community at large. Counseling services available in English and Spanish.
- First Chance North and South-A 24-hour program that serves as an alternative to jail for persons arrested for driving under the influence or public intoxication, providing counseling, case management, and referral support. - The Women's Enrichment Center- A day treatment program for women striving for self-sufficiency and who have co-occuring mental health and substance abuse issues.
- Youth Diversion Services-Case management, family and individual counseling, restitution and community service are the components of this program designed as an alternative to the juvenile justice system for youth in violation of the law.
- Prenatal to Three Initiative- Provides early intervention to Medi-Cal mothers and infants prenatally or at the time of birth, until the child is three years old. Groups, psychotherapy, and case management for families experiencing challenges in the development of the caregiver/infant bonding process.
- Healthy Homes-a program providing services for children who have witnessed domestic violence. Services include: case management and counseling services, advocates to assist with community appointments, children's art/play therapy, and caregiver support and educational groups.
