I attended several interesting worshops with FEAT- Houston. FEAT give me the opportunity to improve my practise with children with special needs and to learn more about the principles of A.B.A. Thank you FEAT!
FEAT has offered me and my family the phenominal opportunity to learn and implement ABA principals and programing into our home and everyday lives. In offering many sequential workshops and conferences throughout the year, they have helped us promote, generalize, and continue techniques that have been so successful in teaching both of our children affected by Autism. Their continual support and positive spirits have been a constant on our journey---and for that, we are eternally grateful!
When my son first started showing signs of Autism I was lost. I had little information on the disorder and no idea were to start or who to turn to. After finding FEAT and its wonderful resources I finally had a starting point. I am only 1 yr into this life long journey, but feel I am finally in a good place. I have attended 3 work shops and feel so confident and in charge of my sons progress. I have even meet another mother through the classes and keep in contact with her. It’s wonderful to know we are not alone and to relate to another mother with the same battles that we are going through. None of this would have been possible if it wasn't for Feat.
I have been working with children with Autism and their families for over 16 years. I have watched as FEAT evolved over the years from being primarily a parent support group to one that helps families learn about autism and what other families are doing for their children. They have reached a point where they are able to assist families in educating themselves on how to help their child. This is especially relevant since ABA therapy is one modality that has the most scientific support for intervention but also comes at a high cost. When parents take ownership and learn how to implement the principles of ABA into their everyday routines, they have a much better outcome for their child. FEAT has provided a venue for parents to take this step in their child's development.
I love FEAT! They have really helped our family learn, on a budget, the fundamentals of ABA that have helped us become our son's primary therapist providers. PLUS, it's allowed us a chance to network with other families like us. It's great to know we are not alone! GO! The services are mostly low cost or free, there is no reason NOT to go and learn how to relate to your child!
