Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animals

Mission: Our facility is a safe haven for the animals that find their way to our sanctuary as a result of abandonment, abuse, neglect, or owner surrender. They have a home with us for as long as they need it. We are a no-kill shelter; every animal in our care will remain with us until they find their forever family. No animal will ever be put down due to lack of space. FAS also strives to educate the community regarding spay/neuter, microchipping, and the importance of understanding the emotional needs of all animals.

This nonprofit helps so many animals in our community by offering services to strays or community owned. Their spay/neuter program helps to reduce the number of animals in our community....which in turn, helps us all. They have a team of volunteers that fosters, clean, care for the animals and help them get adopted. It does take a tribe to support this very worthy organization. Without them the San Diego Humane Society would be overwhelmed.

This organization has lost its perspective and its way. After Janet Lucore stepped down, f a s seems to have gone down. They do turn animals away because of no room at the facility. Instead of begging for food for the animals they take in, maybe the organization should reel in their broad perspective of providing free spay and neuters for people who own animals, free chipping, and other services. Take care of the animals they have instead of the entire communities. Buy food first. If you read reviews on other forums you will find that this is not the place they would have us all to believe. I am hoping the humane society investigates.

I worked along side Janet Lucore for eight years, when I started working with her she had a full time job and took care of homeless animals when she came home from work.
I have spent many an hour helping her save animals and cried with her when we could not save them or had to put them to sleep because they could not be saved.
Janet is a selfless humble woman that puts the animals first to fault sometimes because she does not get much rest.
Janet Lucore is the only hope the Fallbrook Animals have, if not for her and her new location in downtown Fallbrook, "where anyone can go by and check it out" the animals would be taken to animal control and put down, or die on the streets or be eaten by coyotes.
Janet has a kennel licence and is in good standing with animal control.
Janet keeps the sanctuary going on a shoe string budget, using her own money much of the time to keep the doors open.
The person that wrote the bad review on Janet is not telling the truth about Janet and I for one am asking your to check for yourself do not take my word or hers alone.
I visited the sanctuary a few weeks back, they now have a vet tech , and visiting veterinarian it's amazing how far this organisation has evolved.
Rhannah I am ashamed of your lies about this orgnaziation.

I have been volunteering at Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary since January 2011. They save lives every day by keeping animals off the streets, giving them the medical and psychological care they need. This is a 100% volunteer organization funded solely by donations and revenue from the on-site thrift store.

The founder, Janet LuCore is without a doubt, the most amazing woman I have ever known. She has proven than 1 person can make a difference!!

She did what no one else was willing to do in order to save the lives of animals in this rural community. 9/11 took our troops away with many having to leave their pets behind. Janet opened her door and her heart and Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary was born.

Because of Janet, thousands of pets have been re-homed. Because of her efforts, many pets have been re-united with their families. And because of Janet, any animals that come to Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary will ALWAYS have a loving home because she has a no-kill policy. Until the right family comes along, these pets will be loved and cared for by Janet and her compassionate volunteers and fosters.

She's proven that one person can make a difference. And what a difference she has made. Thank you Janet.

The Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary was originally registered as the Fallbrook Animal Rescue. Thousands of pets have been saved and rehomed through its efforts. It takes several thousand dollars a month to sustain it as a community organization receiving no money other than from public donations. Without these donations the Sanctuary will not exist. It is run only on the hard work of volunteers dedicated to saving pet's lives. We need to raise sustained donations monthly to stay open to continue to serve the community. Thank you for helping saving pet's lives that would otherwise be taken to a shelter or left homeless. We are the only no kill animal sanctuary in North County San Diego.
