I have been aware of Faithful Friends for years as an animal advocacy group. It was not until I became more involved that I could truly appreciate all the facets of good they do for animals and the community. Not only have they been promoting advocacy for years, they provide resources for animal owners in the form of low cost veterinary care, a pet food bank, animal training, and education, as well as provide pet therapy for those to whom it would benefit. Being involved with Faithful Friends has been a rewarding, fulfilling experience.
FFAS is unique in that not only does it take in and care for any animal in need, it provides affordable and/or free resources to the pet owners in need, provides pet therapy to those who can benefit and provides work for individuals with disibalities or certain limitations. It truly is a community resource
My wife and I recently lost our beloved cat Sonny to cancer after 11 wonderful years with the Orange Tabby, he was such a good, Lap loving, deep purring boy, he loved to eat and be petted and brushed, never clawing furniture and never having accidents on the floor, we miss him greatly, we were not going to adopt until after Christmas but my wife was so in morning over Sonny, We went to Faithful Friends to look at another orange Tabby named Phillip but fell in Love with Munchkin who we adopted, he has adapted to our home nicely no problems with the litter box and he is slowly becoming a lovable Lap cat, Thank You so much Faithful Friends for putty Love back in our life
Am grateful to Faithful Friends for the care and support which you give to pets to enable them live a healthy and happy life. In my country Uganda and a great part of Africa, spaying and neutralisation are not commonly practised, it's therefore not uncommon to see mobs chasing stray dogs with clubs and pangs to kill them as a rabies control strategy. Pets in Africa stray from their owner's households due to failure by their masters to feed them . In this setting, there is usually no regulations that require assessment and approval of pet domestication. Please help us spread this campaign and if possible participate in the promotion of rabies control through both spaying, neutralisation and rabies vaccination so that pets in this continent can enjoy the rights that pets elsewhere access.
Animal shelters, while growing in visibility, still are forced to overcome the negative stigma of urine-soaked, lonesome holes for castaways. FF is the complete polar opposite, feeling much more like a home (or, as many pet spaces are called there, "condos") for little baby and big, slobbery baby dogs and cats alike. Staff and Volunteers do not even attempt to resist the constant urge to converse with, hug, or spend a little extra special time with all of the furry beings, and, through community education and countless outreach opportunities, welcome all to give in to the love and need for a pet of their very own.
I love volunteering with Faithful Friends and I always have! It is a place that you can fit in easily and the work everyone does at the shelter should not be taken for granted. Every employee seems to be a hard worker and the care they give does not go unappreciated by the pups and cats. I especially like to volunteer for events. The last event I volunteered for was their 5k fundraiser. I got to work a variety of positions and I loved connecting with the community through my Faithful Friends service. This shelter is very significant in my heart.
I adopted this sweet baby after three visits to Faithful Friends. I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of cats and my heart broke over be many adult cats who needed a home who were just as sweet as the kittens. After adopting Piper, I quickly became a volunteer at Faithful Friends and work in the cat department with all the fur babies on a regykar basis. This shelter does everything they can for every animal that comes to them, while still maintaining a clean, organized environment.
I have been a Faithful Friends volunteer, since 2005. Since the day I walked into the shelter at 4 Germay Dr. I have always seen what great care and total committent from staff and volunteers that worked in each department! Each dog and cat are treated with great care and compassion! The shelter is always clean and everything in order. Jane, goes over and above to ensure the upmost care for each and every animal that comes through the door. She is very proactive and very hands on with staff and volunteers. Faithful Friends is very well recognized and established in the community because of such wonderful and hard work of everyone committed to making the shelter the best. I fostered and adopted many dogs throughtout the years and was given great help with anythig i needed when fostering.
The new vet clinic is outanding! They are very professional and are very compassionte with the dogs/cats that come in. I had great experience recently with one of my dogs! They did excellent care and also followed up by phone the next day. I have referred many of my family and friends to the new vet clinic and each has given my very positived fedback from their visit, and said that they will continue to go for any future pet needs. I can't stay enough for all the great and wonderful help Faithful Friends has given me and my family.
I've been involved with Faithful Friends for years as a member of their advisory board. I've always been impressed by the dedication of the staff as they fulfill the organization's mission of ending the neglect and abandonment of animals in Delaware and providing animal related welfare and social services. Jane Pierantozzi is an impressive Executive Director who displays leadership and compassion and spearheaded bringing the national no-kill movement to Delaware. As a business leader in the state, I'm impressed with the management of this organization. As an animal lover, I'm proud of the work they do and to provide them with my support.
I started as a volunteer dog walker nine years ago. It was apparent that each and every dog, cat, and occasional rabbit at Faithful Friends was given so much love. The dedicated and committed staff and volunteers work hard to prepare each animal for their new family and to prepare each family to ensure a successful adoption.
In addition to adoption Faithful Friends offers other services to the community to make pet care more affordable. Programs and services include rescue and adoption, healthy pet clinics, spay/neuter clinics, free pet food & supply bank, pet therapy services, and community outreach.
I have watched Faithful Friends grow over the years and save the lives of more and more animals. I have adopted three dogs from Faithful Friends. It is an honor to be associated with Faithful Friends, an organization that is committed to fight for the welfare of animals in all local shelters, so that all pets in our community receive the treatment and care they deserve.
As a parent going thru a long drawn out divorce my rescue dogs were the tonic my children needed. The wonderful love starved dogs instantly bonded with my children. Faithful Friends made the adoption easy and a pleasant process . I could not be more pleased . Our wonderful dogs instantly became a vibrant part of our family . Faithful Freinds impressed so much I jointed their board of Directors.
Faithful Friends is an important and trusted resource for the Delaware community where it saves thousands of animals each year in its no-kill shelter. The organization operates on a shoestring budget and maintains a low-cost vet clinic, a cat and dog rescue operation, spa/neuter clinics and even a food bank for folks who want to keep their pets but can't come up with the money to feed them. The staff and volunteers are among the kindest, most caring people you'll ever find. In many cases, the staff not only helps pets in need, but their humans as well.
Faithful Friends Animal Society in Wilmington, DE, goes above and beyond to help pet owners. They don't forget the human factor in successfully keeping pets in homes and out of shelters. However, when pets do end up in its shelter, they are given the time and attention they deserve to help them really shine. Those pets who don't end up in an adoptive home are promised lifetime care, either at the shelter or in a dedicated foster home. First an adopter, then a supporter and finally a board member, I have had the pleasure of serving with hard-working staff and volunteers on a variety of special projects that have earned Faithful Friends' position as the most progressive animal shelter in Delaware.
Faithful Friends Animal Society is blazing a path to better animal welfare in Delaware. Their holistic approach to reducing pet overpopulation thru affordable spay/neuter clinics, adoption events, feral cat trap-neuter-return and advocating for better laws that actually protect companion animals is smart and proactive for long-term solutions in our state. In addition, their pet therapy program elevates the role of pets in the lives of people while bringing joy to their lives, and the Program for Education and Training (PET) helps train cognitively challenged adults with basic life skills at the shelter.
I have been involved with Faithful Friends for the past 7 years. I was introduced to the organization by my daughter who at 16 volunteered as a dog walker. I adopted a dog from Faithful Friends. As a full grown mutt she was matted and only weighed 9 pounds. She is now a healthy 14 pounds and the sweetest dog I have ever met. I became involved in the organization because of the passion that the staff has towards homeless animals. It's not a numbers game at Faithful Friends. Each animal truly matters and is lovingly cared for until a forever home can be found. They also provide services that help pet owners keep their pets in the home. Faithful Friends is a compassionate full service animal shelter in Delaware.
My daughter had to surrender her pit bull due to unfortunate circumstances beyond her control. With so many shelters full because of the hurricanes they were able to help her and took in her dog. This was a very hard thing for her to do but now we know he will have the best chance for being placed in another loving home.
Faithful Friends has the most passionate people working for them. They provide the best care for the dogs and cats in the shelter, better than I have seen at any other animal shelter. Faithful Friends treats each dog and cat as an individual and works tirelessly to find the dogs and cats loving homes. Faithful Friends has been the leader of the No-Kill movement in the State of Delaware and has worked with the State Legislature to enact legislation to help the animals. Faithful Friends knows the strong bond between animals and people and its programs, such as Pet Therapy, perpetuate and strengthen that bond. Faithful Friends is the best!!!
My family loves Faithful Friends. We have gotten a total of 2 cats from the shelter over the years and they have been the most friendly and the sweetest cats that you would ever want to meet! Our in-laws just adopted a very sweet dog from Faithful Friends too, and he fit into their family extremely well! My mother-in-law got her beloved companion cat (Freddy) from Faithful Friends. Most of the animals there seem to get along with the other animals too. Some of the longer-term shelter pets are even able to roam free in the office area and greet the visitors to the shelter.
Many of the cats are in cat condos, where you can sit with them and observe them interacting with the other cats! That is how we picked out our great cats.
I like the shelter so much, that I have just recently joined their volunteer staff to provide help with dog walking and visiting the animals on a regular basis. I love animals and it is feels so rewarding to me to spend time with these sweet animal souls!!

I volunteer with both cats and dog care. The care the animals receive is great . The staff and volunteers are caring and outstanding. It's nice the animals are protected from the elements outside until they find their forever home. I Love being a part of this nonprofit.
Faithful Friends treats animals carefully and compassionately - as individuals, really. Every effort is made to adopt them out, while keeping them healthy and happy at the shelter. They work hard, and do a lot of good with their resources. FFAS has amazing Pet Therapy programs to help people of all backgrounds with the joy and benefit of pets! Finally, Jane Pierantozzi, executive director of Faithful Friends has done more for animal welfare than anyone else in our state. She's a tireless and compassionate advocate.
I am both a volunteer and a customer/client of Faithful Friends Animal Society. They are an amazing organization that started paving the way for a No-Kill Delaware and they fight hard for animal advocacy and animal rights in the state of Delaware. Their director, Jane Pierantozzi, truly cares and is very passionate about the lives of animals. They help the people and the pets of Delaware in so many ways. They have a pet food bank and offer low-cost veterinary services for low-income individuals so they can keep their loved pets, they save cats and dogs from kill-shelters, they work to rehabilitate animals that other shelters might label unadoptable and “put down,” they work with local barns and farms to find safe homes for feral cats in the state, they offer a trap and release program to feral cat colonies throughout the state to help with the cat population and they treat every animal that comes through their doors with the love and respect that they deserve while they wait for their forever homes. I have been a volunteer at Faithful Friends for awhile, walking dogs, advocating for cats and dogs, fostering them and being their ambassador. I see first hand how much work they do and how much love they give to these animals. They have gone above and beyond many many times while I’ve been volunteering there. From helping people find homes so they can keep their pets, to finding temporary homes for people’s pets that have fallen on hard times to searching for hours and hours for one injured kitten on the streets in the dark so it could get help and be safe. I have volunteered here, adopted from them and used their veterinary clinic and I would and do recommend them to every one I know that is looking to adopt or would like to help or donate to an wonderful non-profit organization.
