Mission: Our mission is to bring people to Jesus Christ and membership in Christ''s family, developing them into disciples to serve the world. Some ways in which this is accomplished is through our community programming and serving projects.
Results: We have had some great worship services with special groups in to share their gifts. The shelter has provided services for 350 persons and with emergency assistance 700 persons. The food pantry has provided over 800 people, and the ministry of meals has provided over 1,000 meals.
Target demographics: The church is open to all ages; the homeless shelter is for women and families.
Programs: Faith United Methodist Church provides a traditional and blended worhsip services on Sundays as well as children through adult Sunday school classes. Bible studies are offered frquently for new comers to the faith and those that have some biblical background. Other sources of spiritual growth are offered through the Clues Club afterschool program and youth programming.Some major accomplishments for our programming is through our Health and Welfare Ministries:1. Harbor House Crisis Shelters mission is to provide a safe, hospitable shelter for homeless single women and for families. Our goal is to assist our guests in attaining housing. Harbor House Crisis Shelter began in 2001 and has provided shelter for over 900 persons. HHCS is the only shelter of its kind in Douglas County. The shelter provides shelter, case management and community referrals. There are two homeless shelters and one Transitional Living Center. The operating budget for this program is seperate from the church budget.2. Noah's Ark Day Cares are faith based day cares for low to moderate income famailies. The day cares operate with a state license and can care for as many as 80 children between the two sites. The operating budget for this ministry is seperate from the church's.3. The Ministry of Meals is a Sunday meal that is open to the public. These meals are free and serve from 70-120 persons on site and on the 5th Sunday, approximately 150 meals are delivered.4. Food Pantry is offered once a week and provides over 150 household emergency food each month.5. Hughitt Harbor is a youth drop in center that operates twice a week. This drop in center is superised and has a variety of fun activties for youth.
