I spend a fair about of time at the HUB, and I leave there feeling better than I did going in!
The level of volunteering is wonderful - all the nice people who donate their time are totally dedicated to the seniors, and other folks. The Store associated with the HUB sells clothes and many other items to support not only the community but the HUB. The main ballroom and kitchen are large enough to handle groups that didn't always have the opportunity to keep their gathering in town. We have a nearly new building and the HUB is bursting at the seams. I cannot imagine a better resource for our small community.

I have had the pleasure of being involved in this organization for many years. The work that is done in the community on behalf of seniors and people with disabilities is wonderful. Peoples lives are being changed by the power of the HUB and the people within the walls that make it a place to find Hospitality, Unity and Belonging.

The commitment to helping Seniors in this community is incredibly evident in the Faith in Action, The HUB Center for Seniors organization. I highly recommend supporting them, and even volunteering yourself!

I have volunteered at Faith in Action, The HUB Center for Seniors since they opened their wonderful new facility. I have answered phones, called Seniors to see what their needs are, taught a class, written articles, and helped with the website. I am a big fan of all the ways Faith in Action helps the Seniors in our community and how they are always looking for new ways to help.

The fundraising branch of their activities will be ongoing since it takes a lot of money to help Seniors in need. Being on the Fundraising Committee, I see folks trying to come up with fun and interesting ways to bring awareness to others of all the good Faith in Action is doing in this community while giving them a fun event to participate in as well. It's a challenge, but one they take on gladly for being able to continue the work that is necessary.

Please support Faith In Action, The HUB Center for Seniors.

The moment you walk through the doors of Faith In Action you feel a part of a larger caring community. They offer the community a great space to congregate, useful and fun classes, and a fabulous thrift store. The staff and volunteers are sincere, grateful and competent. I am proud of our Senior Center!

I went to work for Faith in Action in 2007. retiring earlier this year. In the time I worked there, I was privileged to work with staff and volunteers who truly cared for our seniors and for our community.

Several of these volunteers came alongside a vet facing chemotherapy and radiation. They not only transported him to his daily appointments, but provided friendship and support through his struggle.

Another volunteer, who himself suffered from MS; cleaned the house, tended the yard, and transported a blind neighbor and his wife for many, many years.

Teams of volunteers each year bring Christmas presents to shut-in and needy seniors.

Meals and companionship are provided through volunteer help at Faith in Action's HUB Center for Seniors.

I could go on and on, but could not begin to touch on the thousands of examples of generous service that I saw and experienced in the last 10 years. I stand in true admiration of all the local heroes I have been blessed to know.

In spite of all this generosity however, the need in our area is still huge.

Seniors struggle to stay in their homes even as they grow less capable of maintaining them.

Aging soldiers fight terrifying diagnosis - often alone.

Isolation leads to depression, leading to illness and even death.

Faith in Action needs both donors and volunteers to continue being the hand of caring to it's aging neighbors. Can you help?

I have been involved with Faith in Action WestSound for over six years. The mission of FIA is to "Support Independent Living for Our Senior and Disabled Neighbors". FIA has proved its commitment to this mission many times more than could be counted. From providing meals and needed medical equipment for people just released from the hospital to obtaining and chopping wood for those who would not have heat without wood for their stoves, FIA has provided at home help for their neighbors. FIA, through its staff and many (over one hundred) dedicated volunteers, helps people with transportation to get to medical appointments, shopping and bringing folks in to our community senior center in Belfair, Washington. It has been an honor and I am grateful to be a volunteer and board member for this outstanding community non-profit organization.

Faith in Action West Sound is indispensible to our community of seniors. It is truly a "hub" of activity with lots of events and classes. But at its heart is its mission to keep seniors in their homes. And to this end the monies from the thrift shop and donations go to help folks with their utilitybillls, doctor's bills and rent when necessary. Volunteers handy with a particular skill fix up people's houses, or drive folks to doctor's appointments....The former Director, who just retired, was the force behind the construction of the new building, and the new Director is full of ideas about how to use it to its capacity. I look forward this year to delivering baked goods and xmas gifts --gifts that have been collected all year from donations--to senior and disabled members of our community.

I am a volunteer, Past Board Member, Past President and consumer of FIA West Sound Services. This organization has provided members of the community with services free of charge for over 15 years. This organization's volunteers change flat tires, provide transportation to grocery stores, give rides to doctors appointments, help seniors with winter utility bills, work in the Thrift Store, provide seniors with furniture needs from the Thrift Store and manage a medical equipment bank and do many other services to help seniors remain in their own homes. The organization has grown to provide seniors with free lunches and various exercise, craft and socialization programs in a marvelous facility that opened in 2015 after a rigorous Capital Campaign. The community supports Faith In Action West Sound by volunteering and making donations to help sustain the programs that this organization provides.

I started volunteering at this organization as a way to give back to the senior population after my grandma and grandpa passed. I fell in love with the ways that Faith In Action brings a smile to the face of those that they come in contact with. So many wonderful volunteers that help keep people independent in thier homes. Calls, rides, medical lending library, thrift store that provides in kind donation to other non profits and those in need in tbe community and now a activities and event center that provides a place for the community to go and share life.
My life had been forever enriched by being a part of Faith In Action.

Started volunteering at Faith In Action in 2011 for several reasons. The primary reason was they helped a relative and her family when they needed it most. FIA helped them on several occasions all of which were at times I could not. One of the other reasons I decided to volunteer was they needed help in the area that I could provide a great amount of help. It was also an area that is dear to my heart. I was able to deal with two great things at the same time. I have since devoted a major part of my retirement time to FIA in an effort to help our senior and disabled neighbors. Since I might need this type of help in the future I am trying to pay it forward, sort of in reverse
Great organization with a great mission.

I am a local senior that lives in the Belfair area. I was so happy when Faith In Action brought me gifts for Christmas as part of their Gift for Grannys program.
I was so delighted with the robe that I was given for Christmas and the slippers.
These are the nicest slippers I have ever had!... and they are really wonderful.
My husband used to buy me nice robes like this, but he has been gone a long time.
I was also touched by the darling doll that was given to me,it really touched my heart.
I cannot express how thankful I am for these gifts and for Faith In Action.

I became involved with Faith In Action West Sound (FIA) in 2011 through a Motorcycle Organization I belong too. After the initial contact I became a client of FIA in that I enlisted their help in assisting a family member of mine. During this contact I found the FIA personnel to be very helpful, discrete, and accommodating. They were a life saving entity for the family member thus a great help to me since I did not need to go through the stress and strain of dealing with the family issues, at that time I was going through some issues myself and their help allowed me to deal with those issues unabated. I was so impressed with what FIA did/does, I became a volunteer and eventually a Board Member. Now I am the Board Vice President which allows me to pay forward what FIA did for my family and ultimately me. Great organization that is committed to helping the Seniors and Disabled in the North Mason, South Kitsap, and West Pierce County areas.

I have personally met people who are greatful to be able to enjoy some social time by having a connection to their community and for others it has helped meet their basic needs such as warm meals affordable clothing etc. Not to mention the benefits it brings to those who volunteer having the opportunity to give back to their community and have a sense of belonging where they wouldn't otherwise have.

I have been with Faith in Action since it's founding in 2001. I have watched it grow and flourish beyond my wildest imagination. We began as a small group of volunteers who served the seniors in our community so that they could stay independently in their own homes for as long as possible.

One of the most requested services we provide is transportation. This may sound like a mundane thing to do, but it is huge in the lives of our seniors. We have had many recipients in need of kidney dialysis three times a week for months on end. These people, with no family close, no resources for hiring drivers, and without their own transportation would die without our help. Others have no way to get their groceries, of get to physical therapy or doctor appointments, or to visit a friend. Our cheerful volunteers are there to help.

I am currently helping a lady who was hit by car, by taking her to regular doctor and physical therapy appointments, lawyer appointments, grocery shopping, and church. Over the past year, we have become good friends. She often says that I have changed her life, but I think she has changed my life even more. Most of our volunteers feel this way, too. Serving others enhances our lives.

Faith in Action also has a Thrift Store, that sells merchandise a prices all can afford, as well as providing clothing and household items free to those in dire need.

Currently we are building The HUB - Center for Seniors, to open in early 2016. It will serve as a Senior Activity Center, a central place for seniors to find services locally, and a larger Thrift Store; as well as a community gathering place.

I highly recommend this charity. It serves the community well.
