Programs: Kccd housing counseling agency assists potential home owners in the purchase of their first home by providing home buyer education, financial literacy, and counseling. Prospective home owners learn about government down payment assistance programs, escrow, and related topics that will equip them to purchase a home and be an informed, smart buyer. To date, kccd has educated and trained over 8,000 potential buyers. Kccd also provides an 8-hour neighborworks certificated homebuyer education class. Kccd is also a hud approved housing counseling agency. For our homeownership program, kccd has received numerous awards including the hope award from the national association of realtors.

In 2008, kccd hosted "wake up call! Asian american youth at risk: faith & community leadership summit" in partnership with the substance abuse and mental health services administration (samhsa), which covered topics such as "asian youth at risk and "challenges facing our youth". Kccd also produced a directory of available mental health resources to increase ease of access for aapi community members. Recently, we were also one of 12 communities selected from across the country by samhsa to strengthen faith and community partnership in mental health. Job trainingkccd has trained a range of disadvantaged and underserved youth and young adults from various programs such as americorps vista, transitional subsidized employment (tse) job training, the summer youth program, computer classes, and by also providing internships to students from partner universities and schools. These programs equip youth and young adults with critical administrative and leadership skills, as well as experience with government relations, event programming, fundraising, partnership development, and navigating resources. Leadership development trainingkccd has trained over 3,000 faith and community leaders through leadership development workshops, conferences, and speaking engagements. Since 2008, kccd has also served as host and co-host for professional development conferences in los angeles and washington, dc that train nonprofit, corporate, and government leaders in capacity building and leadership development. Lighting the community summitthe lighting the community summit is a national conference that brings together policy makers, elected officials, funders, corporations, pastors, media, community leaders and others devoted to community development. It provides a forum for collaboration, engagement and dialogue, as well as training/workshops to address key economic and social issues, such as housing, small business, mental health, immigration reform and human trafficking, amongst others. The event also provides partnership and networking opportunities.

Disadvantaged groups such as low-income families, limited english speakers, seniors, and marginalized ethnic groups do not have equal access to technology, internet, and other resources due to linguistic and socioeconomic barriers. To address such challenges, we have partnered with the california public utilities commission, california emerging technology fund, and 1736 family crisis center to address the digital divide and also provide linguistically-appropriate computer classes that teach essential skills such as how to navigate the internet, use social media, and utilize vital software such as microsoft word, excel, and powerpoint.
