Mission: The mission of the fair food standards council (ffsc) is to educate and monitor in support of the development of a sustainable agricultural industry that advances the human rights of farmworkers, the long-term interests of growers, and the ethical supply chain concerns of retail food companies through the fair food program.
Programs: The fair food standards council (ffsc) implemented, monitored, and audited agreements between buyers, growers, and workers in the tomato industry from florida to new jersey relating to farmworkers' human rights, working conditions, and the "penny-per-pound" price premium. The ffsc investigated and resolved issues brought to its attention by calls from farmworkers, educated growers on best practices for valuing the human rights of their workforce and acheived compliance with program standards, and educated consumers about worker-driven social responsibility.
