What a great idea of helping the environment! Other nonprofit organizations get usable food instead of it going into into a landfill.
Exceptional services provided for people in need as well as eliminating the huge amounts of food wasted otherwise. Kudos to the people who have dedicated their time to help others great staff will always do great things.
Thank you all and it is a privilege to help as a donor
Terrific concept. Well executed nonprofit organization that rescues food. Instead of excess going to landfill, ExtraFood delivers food to other nonprofits that can use the help.
Extrafood creates a community of donors, recipients and volunteers that work together to diminish food waste and food insecurity. It is a pleasure to work with competent leadership and staff that make the process seamless and efficient. It is rewarding to meet members of the community that all work together for these common goals.
It's so wonderful when there is an organization who helps locally and globally - ExtraFood does just that! They are rescuing food that can feed people who are experiencing food insecurity while also keeping it out of landfill which helps our planet - it's a win for all! I also love their social media posts as I have learned about food storage tips and what not to do when food has gone by. Knowing ExtraFood is out there is so wonderful - I always smile when I see their trucks around knowing someone is getting a meal who would have been hungry. Thank you ExtraFood!
This organization goes above and beyond to serve our community. Fighting climate change, changing food systems, and creating food sovereignty.
Efficient and professional nonprofit that is easy to work with and volunteer for. Helping mitigate climate change and get food to people who need it!

ExtraFood is an extraordinary organization, deeply rooted in a genuine commitment to feed the community and those in need. Volunteers invest their time and energy gathering, recovering, and distributing food across the Bay Area. Every person I've encountered, whether a volunteer or staff member, is happy to be donating their time and have deep pride in the work they do.
ExtraFood is more than just a food recovery organization—they are local heroes. Not only do they recover food but they prepare nutritious soups and salads from the collected ingredients, ensuring that those in need receive wholesome meals. Their work nourishes children, seniors, and struggling individuals, while bolstering the spirit of the community they serve.
Amazing organization doing amazing work - our community is better thanks to them.

ExtraFood is Amazing! They work 7/365 to feed the hungry and reduce food waste. When you hear about it or see it in action it makes perfect sense. So glad that they exist and are a part of our community.
ExtraFood is a great organization and we are so lucky to have them in Marin - now they are helping people in San Francisco and Sonoma as well. It just makes sense to redistribute high quality food that would be thrown away and give it to people who are hungry. I am proud to support this organization.

I’m grateful to be able to support such important work and I hope everyone contributes what they can to making this food rescue program a permanent part of our food system.

ExtraFood does such important work for our community. Everyday they pick up hundreds of pounds of excess fresh, edible produce, dairy, eggs, bread, prepared foods and complete meals from grocery store, hospitals, schools and restaurants, and makes sure that food gets to the children, families and seniors that most need it- all while saving that food from ending up in landfills. This really is an incredible nonprofit and worthy of our donations!
I’ve seen the significant work of the staff and volunteers at ExtraFood for years make a meaningful difference in the lives of many in Marin and beyond. Truly a wonderful organization that my family is honored to work with and support.
ExtraFood's mission is so incredibly simple, yet so powerful when executed-take food from the people who have surplus food and get it to those that need it. So often surplus food is simply thrown away, allowing the waste to become an environmental issue as well, clogging our landfills with rotting food. The very simple model that ExtraFood has put into place does such an amazing service to the community.
I have been volunteering with my mom for 2 years and I really love it. Its a really smart idea to take food that would be thrown out and giving it to people who need it instead. There are so many people that are hungry in Marin and it shouldn't be that way when grocery stores have so much extra food. So it makes me happy to help and I think ExtraFood is a great organization.
I love volunteering with ExtraFood - my NCL chapter volunteers at the farmers market to sort donations from farmers for 3 different charities. Then we drive them to the charity and our cars are full of vegetables and fruit. It makes me feel good to know that they are not going to waste and that it can feed people who don't have a lot of money.
After spending many hours working at a food bank warehouse, I became depressed by the quality of food (mostly canned and dry goods) and a lack of fresh food available. When ExtraFood.Org reached out to my son's philanthropy organization, I was thrilled to learn that they recovered and redistributed FRESH food (especially lots of locally grown fruits and vegetables!). I jumped on board. The volunteer training process was efficient and thorough. I am now a regular volunteer and I enjoy every moment. I feel supported and appreciated by the ExtraFood.Org staff as well as the donors and recipients I come in contact with. I know that I am needed and it is very fulfilling to be able to meet that need. ExtraFood.Org is my favorite volunteer space and I highly recommend it to others who have just a little time or a lot of time. It is a place for people who care about reducing food waste and making it possible for everyone in our community to have healthy, fresh food available to them.
My son and I joined as a way to volunteer time to a really worthwhile cause. I have heard about ExtraFood for a couple of years now and we are very committed as a family to sustainable practices and supporting our community's needs. This organization fills so many important needs and we are thankful to be part of the volunteer team.
What an amazing organization. I started as a volunteer food runner with ExtraFood in fall of 2019, and was immediately impressed with their seamless operation in their mission to recover unused fresh food and deliver it to people in need. What a win.
Each Sunday, we receive a listing of food runs, pick our favorites for the week and go. My favorite run starts in the kitchen at Marin Health where I walk out with pans of fresh pasta, chicken, rice and the rest, for local delivery.
Extra Food makes me proud.
We are thrilled to give ExtraFood a five-star review. Lifehouse serves over 370 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities primarily in Marin and Sonoma County. The food we receive from ExtraFood assists the people we serve in meeting their individual monthly expenses. The food is always fresh. We receive a wide variety such as prepared foods from the school lunch programs, produce, grocery staples and occasional treats. Jordan in the office is professional and a true advocate for us. Trevor and Cisco deliver recovered food with the ExtraFood refrigerated truck. They truly care about the needs of the people we serve by providing a wide assortment of fresh and healthy food. The volunteers are considerate and dependable. Thank you to ExtraFood.
I love working with Extra Food! Their concept is so simple and so important: volunteers pick up extra food from groceries, farmers' markets and restaurants and deliver to the people in our county who need it most. There is a great sense of camaraderie among the volunteers and we know that we are making a difference in people's lives that very day. I wish the whole world would catch on!
I have partnered with ExtraFood for the last 8 years. The thoughtful growth, commitment to reducing food waste and the Herculean efforts now and particularly throughout the pandemic to address food insecurities in Marin has been impressive.
Kuddos to ExtraFood.
This organization is unbelievable. I was just talking with my daughter about how nice it was to share a volunteer experience that was so meaningful to us both and where we both walked away amazed by everyone we encountered. From the incredibly generous vendors at the farmers market to the brilliant people at ExtraFood. And the fact that my daughter and her friends could actually not just participate, but drive the entire day and make a difference was so powerful. Such a feel good day about our community and everyone we worked with that day !
My daughters and I volunteered at the Marin Civic Center Sunday Farmer's Market a few weeks ago to collect unsold produce from the vendors for ExtraFood to deliver to their nonprofits. It was amazing seeing how much fresh, organic and beautiful fruits and vegetables we were able to collect and divide for these programs in need right in our own community. The vendors were thrilled to see their produce not go to waste and to be donated to nonprofits. My kids had a blast going from vendor to vendor to see what they had leftover and helping sort for the different groups. It felt great to spend just a couple of hours with my kids on a Sunday afternoon to help ExtraFood.
I started volunteering for ExtraFood in 2016 because I wanted to help people facing food insecurity. Once I learned more about how much food is wasted and the environmental impact it has, I became even more engaged in their work. Not only do they help people who are hungry - especially children - but they prevent food from rotting in landfills, which emits methane.
