• A master plan for development of Exploration Green has been prepared
• A phased development plan is being executed
• Construction has been completed for five development phases
• Native tree planting is in progress for the final two development phases
Target demographics: people enjoy the natural environment
Direct beneficiaries per year: approximately 300 local residents enjoy the outdoors each day
Geographic areas served: The Clear Lake community of Southeast Houston
Programs: environmental education, bird study, planting native vegetation, 6 miles of hike/bike trails
A welcomed green space that brings the community together to volunteer and walk. Together, we transformed a golf course into a flood detention pond and nature conservancy. Walking on the 6 mile trail, brings the beauty of nature right before your eyes with the graceful movement of a Egret or a turtle swimming by along with 1,000 other nature species. The pond can hold up to 500 million gallons of storm water. We can now sleep at night when Hurricane season is here.
