I was fortunate enough to coordinate and volunteer with a group of my colleagues for ECF's Exceptional Training Academy. With Amy Herrera's assistance we were able to complete a 3 week financial literacy schedule that culminated in an in-person experience that had the Academy visit one of our local bank branches to participate in a mock banking session with our employees. It was such a fun and rewarding experience for all of us!
I have been employed at ECF for almost 7 years now. I have loved working here due to the supportive environment. I have grown in this agency, meaning I started as a Mental Health Therapist and have moved up to now being the director of Mental Health Services!!! It is amazing to be in a place where your worth is seen and valued. The professionalism of all staff is, as the name of our agency states, exceptional. It pays to work for an employer who gives you the room to be yourself and expand your skills by providing you with the tools you need. ECF has had a lasting, ongoing impact on my family throughout the majority of my life. My older sister, has autism, and has benefitted from the programs and services provided by ECF at various stages in her life, starting with an elementary school education that allowed her to work with educators who are interested in working specifically with her. Later in her life, as an adult, she has maintained a connection with ECF, taken part in the art program, and undergone job training with ECF. It's made me feel that she has a community that is inclusive, and that strives to create an environment in her best interests.
ECF is unique because it provides a lifetime of services for children and adults with special needs. For instance, ECF provides early intervention programs for infants and toddlers, as well as residential, work and day programs for adults. ECF is one of the only nonprofits that provides a lifetime of services for individuals with disabilities in Los Angeles. ECF is continuing to find ways to enhance the lives of the people they serve and sets the standard for other nonprofits. I am honored to serve as an Associates Board member for this outstanding organization!
From 1996 to 2017, I managed the Wells Fargo Foundation in Los Angeles - at the time, the largest corporate donor to nonprofit organizations in the city. During my 21-year career, I made - literally - tens of thousands of grants to nonprofits. And among those that stand out as one of the absolute best, is the Exceptional Children's Foundation. The organization provides simply outstanding care and services to the children and families they support and have done so consistently for decades. They are led by a dedicated team of professionals and enjoy richly deserved support from thousands of supporters. Proud to continue to support them personally, and as someone who knows the profession - this organization is among the finest.
As an Associates Board member, I have had the pleasure of experiencing first-hand the life changing services the Exceptional Children’s Foundation provides for its clients and their families. ECF’s broad offering of programs makes it one of the preeminent providers of services to children and adults with learning differences in Los Angeles.
I have been privileged to see first-hand the care and commitment throughout this organization truly transforming lives of the children and adults served. To see the transformations, to witness children realizing success and their own strengths and adults actualizing their dreams, is a gift in my life. This is an organization that partners with donors, volunteers, businesses and the community to create possibilities, empowering individuals with special needs to reach their greatest potential.
ECF was our rock. We were so lucky that we were lead to ECF's early intervention services following the challenging birth of our twins. The therapists we worked with - both in home and at the regional center - were so welcoming and comforting during a very anxious time for us. Having their support and reassurance truly made all the difference as we navigated through developmental uncertainty. We will be forever grateful.
I am a Service Coordinator for a Regional Center. I have a few clients that attend different programs at ECF. They provide a safe and engaging environment for our clients to thrive. The ECF staff that I have worked with go above and beyond for my clients. This agency and its staff are exceptional indeed!
This is the most extraordinary organization. My nephew who is an adult was feeling worthless and depressed not having a meaningful job and not feeling like man. I actually worried for his survival in his state of isolation and hopelessness--and then ECF and the Regional Center teamed up to get him an interview with an amazing corporation that hired him! He has worked at this company for several years now. The on-going supervision of ECF and the Regional Center can only be described as a miracle team and he has flourished at this company. There are no words of appreciation that would truly express how wonderful ECF is and how outstandingly they perform their mission to assist the disabled and move them up to a state of real dignity and self-worth. I will be grateful to them forever for the work they have done to develop his potential and, I believe, saved his life. He now lives a rich life with a real future despite his limitations.
This is a great program to help those individuals that struggle with challenges. Both Christian Alvarez and Mark Campoy do an excellent job with their cases. They are always involved and ready to assist their students that are enrolled at our career college. Great Job!!
As a Service Coordinator for Westside Regional Center, I have experienced ECF to be accessible in terms of super staff with accessibility to discuss and share information regarding the many many programs offered to children, adults and seniors with disabilities. ECF has always been my "go to," for programs that I know will be somewhat different and innovative especially in their training academies and art center programs. ECF also has a superior Supported Employment program who I have many adults being supported professionally. The adult who does not know much about their dreams and goals can start at ECF and move in and about the many programs and even live in their residential. Most of all, ECF becomes family to the individual we both serve and I only have excellent comments to say about this non profit organization.
I have worked for many non-profits. The ECF Leadership Team has INTEGRITY!

Exceptional Children's Foundation is an incredible organization providing the highest quality services to individuals with special needs from birth through adulthood. Their important work has had such a meaningful impact in our community.
As a long term employee and Director of an adult program, I am very proud of the transition in service delivery that we were able to make during the pandemic. Our service delivery had always been traditional, in-person services; and prior to the pandemic we couldn't have fathomed being able to provide 100% virtual supports and services; but literally in a span of 2-3 weeks we converted our service delivery platforms using existing and new technology, trained our staff and participants to learn the new skills required to access our alternative service delivery. And today, almost 2 years later, our programs are thriving in a hybrid model (in-person and virtual ) and our participants and staff are ever more enthusiastic and connected. Considering that we weren't tech reliant to begin with; our conversion and resilience is one I am really proud of.

I've had an opportunity to interact with the Exceptional Children's Foundation on many different levels over the better part of a decade. My first encounter with ECF took place in Santa Fe Springs, as I got to admire their work from afar, as I was a member of the Santa Fe Springs Chamber of Commerce. Their attention to detail and compassion for their students was palpable.
When I moved to Culver City, a few years later, I became intimately involved with ECF - attending various fundraising events, speaking with Board Members, and working with key staff. Again, their passion and pride in their work is nothing short of "Exceptional". In speaking with some of their students, I saw their eyes light up when speaking about the impact that ECF has on their lives.
At the annual gala and awards ceremony, I was able to further engage with the families of those served, many of whom are so thankful for the support of their children that they have become donors too.
In short, this is truly one of the best run, managed, and serving non-profit that I have had the honor to serve, work with or interact within my lifetime. They have set and continue to exceed a high bar of service and I know they are only destined for more Exceptional accomplishments in the years ahead.

Exceptional Children's Foundation has been outstanding to work with during the past 15+ years. I have placed Early Childhood Special Education student teachers at there site and have always been extremely impressed with the kindness and care that they have for the children and their families. Their play-based program is extremely developmentally appropriate for the children, and the students who I send their to observe and teach are always impressed with how the staff get the children so involved in the learning process. Additionally, the center's director is outstanding and goes out of her way to make sure that everyone's individual needs are met. This is truly an outstanding learning center that makes sure every child's abilities are met!

One stand out activity is the greeting cards they made for first responders at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles in May 2020. As part of a Hearts For Heroes program, the ECF students made over 300 handmade heart-shaped thank you notes that were delivered to hospital staff. This truly brightened the day of many nurses, doctors and COVID first responder staff at a time when they needed it most.

They manage to not only help children, but to assist them in becoming independent adults and valuable members of their communities. The incredible staff, board, and infrastructure is what has made them successful all these years. Proud to be a part of their mission!
I recently visited the Kayne Eras Center and it's such a wonderful, caring educational program. While I was there, I witnessed first hand the expertise and genuine care of the staff. A student was having an intense moment on the playground and she was clearly in distress. It was not evident what triggered it but she was very gently and thoughtfully surrounded by staff members speaking to her with respect and dignity; words of kindness and safety. You could see in their faces and body language such understanding and real concern for her. My heart went out to her. Our kids and community are so fortunate to have the wonderful staff at Kayne Eras Center.

I am always touched by how much staff in all roles care about participants, too.

I work for ECF as an art instructor in San Pedro, California. Before ECF, I had never heard of a program that helps developmentally disabled artists create a name for themselves AND reap fifty percent of the profit from their work. Every day I am in awe by the creativity by these individuals, and they simply want to be heard. ECF offers that opportunity for them to have a voice through their artwork, and make life-long friendships with others. The ECF Art Center Program is only a fraction of the entire ECF umbrella, and I am proud to be a part of it.
The Exceptional Children's Foundation is a program that is able to implement a core value of Empowerment and Inclusion, which is being committed to providing the students and clients with the tools they need for self-determination and to make the best choices in their lives.

Exceptional Children's Foundation, is a great non profit. They put the needs and well being of their clients above anything else.
Parents, schools, and referring agencies recognize the programs as premier providers for the excellence in services delivered to consumers.
I can attest that ECF, specifically at our Hyde location in Inglewood, goes above and beyond to elevate our participant’s soft skills so that they can seek employment in the future within the community. My name is Mark Anthony and Presently I am a Community Integration Instructor and our objective in the Accelerated Preparation Program (A P P) along with my manager and supervisor is to do exactly that. We presently talk about the Current Event News, write a summary, work on grammar and history as well as their math skills. Moreover we talk about how we can take care of ourselves and avoid being burned out. In addition, we go on community outings 3 times a week and explore our community. It can be from exploring the park for mental relaxation, researching items at grocery store, purchasing a stamp at the post office, doing an informational interview at a local nursery, interacting with the teller at a bank and many other activities.
From our receptionist, case managers, production managers, maintenance and marketing manager, directors, CEO’s, and others, we care. I will say if you are reading this and have an interest, I invite you to take a tour at our Hyde location to learn about our other services.
At the ECF Early Start program in Los Angeles and in the San Fernando Valley, my social worker responsibilities help me help our youngest children with special needs plus their parents and siblings. I love my colleagues, my fellow social workers, our early childhood educators, occupational, physical and speech therapists! Great place to work; great families who really appreciate us.
Simply exceptional in many ways, the programs, the staff, the students, and the dedication combined with the vision, mission and passion, has created a revolution in serving people with special needs.
ECF is a well established organization with a very comprehensive amount of services and resources for those with developmental disabilities. All of the staff who I have encountered over the years were extremely caring and knowledgeable. The participants seem happy and well taken care of.
As someone with over 34 years of experience working with people with special needs, I have never worked for an agency more caring and dedicated to serving people with special needs.
I feel truly honored to be part of such an organization.
Exceptional Children's Foundation is a wonderful resource for children and adults with special needs, especially those who will need special support throughout their lives. Parents can feel confident that their children will receive quality care as they grow into adulthood and beyond, without having to worry about finding new programs as their children grow older. Over the years the programming has continued to broaden, especially for adults with special needs. ECF is a remarkable organization, and I am pleased to play a part in its continued evolution.
Exceptional Children's Foundation is a great and caring organization. They provide services for people with special needs/developmental disabilities from infancy to senior adulthood.
The Exceptional program offers specialized training programs and also work programs.
Exceptional Children's Foundation is truly a caring organization. They provide services for people with special needs/developmental disabilities from infancy to senior adulthood.
The Exceptional Works program offers specialized training programs and work opportunities throughout the Los Angeles community. The case managers and job coaches assist the person with developmental disabilities to "strive and thrive" within the workplace. What an "exceptional" service oriented agency! Thank you!
ECF Art Centers are an amazing resource for adults with developmental disabilities. The facilities are well stocked with a range of art supplies, the gallery is very professional, and the art teachers/mentors are so generous and patient in their guidance. The artists/clients are making extraordinary work in a supportive environment.
ECF Is a wonderful organization that has been serving the Los Angeles community since 1946. Over the years ECF has grown to become a leading provider of high quality services and programs aimed at helping young children, students and adults with developmental disabilities. ECF is committed to helping its clients live up to their greatest and fullest potential. Additionally, ECF works with the families of its clients stay informed and supported. Behind this terrific organization is a team of warm and dedicated professionals who are constantly striving to better their clients' lives.
Our company has been associated with ECF for just over a year and the support we've received has been outstanding. We started with three individuals to assist us with our records reduction effort and have since expanded the program to include four more individuals to provide support in other areas.
The ECF team listened to and made sure they understood our needs, and then provided us with very good matches to our demands. As a result, our company is exploring other areas where the ECF team can provide assistance.
Our company is proud to be able to support ECF and their mission of providing meaningful employment opportunities for the people that utilize ECF’s services.
ECF is focused on the entire lifespan of their clients, providing services for people with developmental disabilities from young children to school age to adult. There’s a commitment to maintaining relationships with families and to educating the community that contributes to the successful integration of their clients into the community. And they are looking to future, adjusting to changes in society and new trends in services.
Our company has been donating food and toys and adopting families for the holidays over the past few years for the Early Start Program. It is more than just collecting and dropping off - we feel connected to the children and the families. The social workers and teachers keep us in the loop, the families create beautiful thank you notes with personal artwork. You know that what you are doing is directly helping a family in need. The personal impact is incredible.
The Michelson Twenty Million Minds Foundation (20MM) is working with The Exceptional Children's Foundation (ECF) to implement an innovative pilot program that brings coding to high school students with special needs through The Kayne Eras Coding Academy. Collaborating with their passionate, highly responsive, and knowledgeable team has been a key factor in the successful implementation of the pilot thus far. We are confident that ECF's commitment to favorable student outcomes and quality programming will help support the success of this pilot. ECF's unrivaled dedication to positively impacting students with special needs is truly admirable, and we hope to continue working with them to achieve this mission.
It's an honor to work with the ECF. Their staff is very committed and passionate. When I first learned about all they do for children and adults with special needs, I was blown away. They offer so many unique services and opportunities that encourage independence and promote self-esteem. I've met a few of the artists in the ECF art program; their sense of pride and accomplishment in their work is inspiring; the art they are creating is museum quality. During a quick tour of their facility, I immediately realized how important this organization is in the community and to the families and clients they serve.

The first time I walked into the Exceptional Children's Foundation, I knew it was a special place. It was filled with very focused, productive people packaging and assembling things; they were really enjoying what they were doing. I was blown away to learn that this was just one of many programs offered to children and adults with developmental disabilities. From their art program to their school, it is not difficult to understand how this organization is impacting the lives of the clients they serve.
I am the editor for Culver CIty News and for the past year I have had the privilege of covering some of the events and work that this great nonprofit engages in and it is amazing. The impact that ECF has on children, adults and families is priceless.
ECF is an amazing organization that helps to empower those in need and teaches how to contribute and "give back" to the community.
I had the opportunity to visit ECF's Downtown Art Center recently, and was just blown away by the work that they are doing. Along with the excellent work they do supporting kids and adults with intellectual disabilities, ECF is a model for other non-profits in terms of connecting with the broader community and transforming the way in which people perceive those populations. People often ascribe limits to folks with intellectual disabilities that just aren't necessarily true or real. A single visit to the art center taught me that. I hope other organizations copy them!
The services provided by Exceptional Children's Foundation are invaluable to the clients it serves. It provides the opportunity for individuals with disabilities to live live fulfilled, and often independent, lives.

With thousands of nonprofits in Los Angeles, it's hard to stand out. But ECF does. Whether it's a young child who learns how to communicate with parents or siblings, or a student who develops a passion for math after being afraid to open a math textbook, or an adult who finds a job and earns a paycheck for the first time, ECF's services and dedicated staff make a difference so that individuals with special needs of all ages are able to contribute to society.

While there are many nonprofits in the Southern California area, none matches the range of services offered by ECF. As a result of ECF's programs spanning childhood to adulthood, individuals with special needs are able to receive assistance so that they can accomplish their goals and contribute to society. ECF inspires me.
As a nonprofit professional who has relationships with many organizations, the Exceptional Children's Foundation stands out on numerous fronts. The commitment to mission, serving people with developmental disabilities throughout their life, is evident in every person I've interacted with within the organization. Backing up their passion to serve ECF's clients and clients' families, is the highly professional staff and leadership who use their expertise to expand their impact, broaden their reach, strengthen ECF from multiple organizational standpoints and share their institutional knowledge with other organizations trying to build healthier communities.
At the heart of Exceptional Children's Foundation is their exceptional leader Dr. Scott Bowling, who's creativity, vision, empathy and intelligence continues to lead this organizations to higher efficiencies while wholeheartedly supporting the programs ECF's clients have come to rely on.

As the Chairperson of the Culver City Chamber of Commerce Nonprofit Subcommittee, I am familiar with numerous nonprofit organizations. I've had the distinct pleasure of learning a significant amount about ECF and their innovative strategies for developing their organization. This organizational development has empowered ECF to tremendously impact the clients they serve and the families that care for those clients. Their programs offer opportunities for their developmentally disabled clients to pursue multiple educational, artistic, and employment opportunities. Additionally, they provide crucial life-skills education which allow their clients to be as autonomous and independent as they are capable of being, based on their individual abilities. Finally, ECF has openly shared their organizational knowledge and business acumen with other not-for-profit organizations within our subcommittee, helping to improve the sector that provides so much to so many.
Empowering and reclaiming precious & valuable lives -- this is what ECF accomplishes every day, with its enormous diversity of services for developmentally challenged children & adults. ECF provides so much to its consumers -- an awarding-winning K-12 school, early Head Start programs, art programs, supported employment, life skill coaching, housing -- but it also enriches the lives of its volunteers & donors by affording each of them the opportunity to work with extraordinary & dedicated staff and remarkable clients. I'm very proud to be associated with this outstanding organization.
I have known about ECF and its fine work with children and adults with developmental disabilities for over 20 years. The dedicated work of their direct care staff is well supported by extremely ethical, transparent, and fiscally responsible management across levels. They offer lifespan services for infants, toddlers, school-age children and youth, adults, and seniors with disabilities such as autism, Down syndrome, and developmental delays. Their high quality services include early intervention for infants and toddlers (home visits, Mommy and Me classes, and center-based programs), the Kayne Eras Center's WASC-accredited non-public school and supportive services for students in grades K-12, and a full range of services for adults with disabilities including day programs, nationally-recognized art centers, residential services, work activity centers, and supported employment. Exceptional Children's Foundation consistently keeps the people they serve at the very heart of their mission and their day-to-day work. They do, without question, live up to their name as exceptional.
I've known about ECF for more than 20 years and remain impressed by the level of consistency and excellence in their services to children and adults with developmental disabilities. In particular, the success stories that the organization shares with donors, families, supporters and friends of ECF offer moving proof as to the effectiveness of their programs.
We work with ECF as a professional vendor - they are exceptional by all accounts. Thoughtful, engaging, and committed to their work.
I've been an honored board member for 1 year, but have been affiliated with ECF for 3 plus years to date. To sum up the reason why I chose to be associated with ECF is because they live up to the word EXCEPTIONAL in all accepts of their organization. Dale Carnegie said, "If you want to be successful, surround yourself with successful people." I think it's safe to say you could replace success with Exceptional in this quote and get the same law of attraction affect. Thanks ECF for being Exceptional in my life and the lives of those you serve!

ECF has positively impacted so many peoples lives with their wonderful services that they offer. I truly believe that it is non-profits like ECF that make the world a better place to live. Keep up the good work!
Some of the art that I viewed during a tour of the ECF was well, exceptional, and only to be surpassed by the abundance of nurturing of creativity and expression under ECF's roof. Clearly a difference is being made.
EFC do an exceptional job servicing the disabled population of the greater Los Angeles area. Fantastic.
The best organization in Los Angeles serving challenged kids from 1st grade through full adulthood

I have been privileged to serve on ECF's board of directors for 14 years, including times between terms due to term limits. I have served as Chair of the Board and have served on most of its committees over the years, and I am very familiar with the organization, its culture and its mission. I have also seen many of the clients that ECF serves, and seen their delight at being a part of this amazing organization.
The people that Dr. Bowling has assembled as his management team are as dedicated, sincere and capable a team as I've seen on any nonprofit staff. Their enthusiasm and dedication filters down to the people who work for them. They all work hard, often at below market wages, to help absorb the seemingly endless reductions in government financial support. They tell success stories at board meetings that move us all. Their school graduates students every year that would never make it in the traditional school system. These people need and deserve your support.

Exceptional Children's Foundation has been serving children and adults with developmental disabilities for decades in Los Angeles. Each of ECF's many programs and centers provides an uplifting and invaluable experience for the clients served. Volunteers and staff members are constantly striving to make life better for the clients and do so with a warm and loving heart. ECF truly empowers its clients to play a greater role in the Los Angeles community and raises a greater community understanding for those with special needs.

The Exceptional Children's Foundation helps thousands of clients with mental and physical issues (and their families) every year, and has done so continously for 67 years. ECF's offers a wide variety of wonderful and substantive programs to assist children and adults alike. It's staff of over 400 is second to none...incrediably dedicated, hard working and caring people--many who have been with the non-profit for many years; many who could earn far greater salaries in the business but choose to devote their lives to helping others. ECF truly makes a postive difference in many people's lives.
I have served as a voluteer member of the Board of Directors for 9 years. It has been one of the most satifying and meaningful events of my life.

I have had the pleasure of watching the ECF organization continually strive for excellence in serving its client base. Whether it is the depth and breadth of services (for programs from early start all the way through assisted living and supported employment, and all the phases in-between, including a non-public WASC accredited K-12 school), or the constant vigilance of staff to maintain program excellence and cost reduction, or the ever-so committed board and standing committees to help keep all the components working at maximum efficiency and value, the organization and its clients are all fantastic.

I have been associated with ECF for over three decades. It has become the premiere vendor of services in the greater Los Angeles area. Its breath of services covers birth to senior citizen, excelling in each program. I know this because i have spoken to parents and have heard them explain what ECF has meant to them and their children. ECF does make a difference and has a proven track record for over six decades. I am proud to be part of what they do and what they will achieve in the future!!!
