This is Ryder , Ryder was born at 25 weeks & 4 days , he has over come so many obstacles in his first year , he was diagnosed with hydrosyphilis (fluid on his brain) at 3 days old. In the last year Ryder had 2 brain surgeries , 2 heart surgeries , a bronchoscopy , a tracheostomy & surgery to have a g-tube put in , & in February he went through a pulmonary hypertension crisis that causes him to have to be sedated for 2 months . Our little miracle has been through so much , back in May he went from A.I Dupont children's hospital to ECC , & I can honestly say that Ryder going here has been the best decision we have ever made , he is so happy all the time ,always smiling, in the hospital he was always laying around unless we were holding him at ECC he started physical therapy & can now hold his head up , he learned to roll over & so much more, he plays with his toys now , does tummy time & everything . I absolutely love ECC , the first time I walked in to register Ryder I cried tears of joy because I just new it was going to an amazing place , & I honestly say that in the little bit of time Ryder has spent there it's everything I could have hoped for & so much more ! My son definitely gets exactly what he needs being there & it brings so much joy & happiness to my heart ! I seriously can't thank the staff at ECC enough for everything they have done for Ryder.
I am part of the school staff at ECC. I am happy to go to work each day and experience the children and staff who thrive there! The children receive such wonderful care, love and acceptance from the staff of the living facility, and the school. Despite the medical needs of the children, the staff at ECC work to do whatever is necessary for these children to experience the joy of childhood and the love of caring adults! I feel so grateful for this facility and the loving environment they provide for children who have medical hurdles, but are still children with the same desires for fun, love and growth as any child.
