Attitudes in Reverse's co-founders, Tricia and Kurt Baker, work tirelessly to bring the message that mental health concerns should not carry a stigma and that there are resources for those in need. Volunteers and their therapy dogs have visited thousands of students from elementary school through college to help change the perception of mental health.
Attitudes In Reverse or AIR is an incredible non profit organization that saves lives. The mission of AIR is to educate society and in particular our youth about mental health and suicide prevention. For far too long the issue of mental health has been shunned. AIR recognizes that for people to be mentally healthy they must be made aware that they may freely speak about their mental health and not only will people listen but there are resources available to address their issues. Because the organization is run efficiently almost every dollar raised is dedicated to the mission of educating our youth and saving lives.
Attitudes in Reverse/everybody loves Kenny is a very special organization. they bring mental heath education into the schools starting the conversation about good mental health and suicide awareness. They bring a team of therapy dogs with them to engage and encourage the children about this critically important topic.
The Everybody Loves Kenny Project does business as Attitudes In Reverse or AIR. Mental illness is like air. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. It is all around us. To date AIR has educated 85,000 students across the US in good mental health and suicide prevention.
This organization has been daring greatly for 8 years and has spoken to over 3200 of my high school juniors in Health class. They help educate the kids about mental health and provide valuable resources for them to help their friends or themselves in not only moments of crisis but everyday struggles. Their presentations have opened up dialogue about mental health that is positive and hopeful.
When our school lost a student 2 years ago to suicide they were first in line to help. They brought their therapy dogs in and provided a much needed source of connection and empathy to our students and staff.
This nonprofit was in the forefront of changing peoples perception about mental illness. They are a gift to every community that they visit with their tireless and selfless compassion.
Mental health has always been important to me. Attitudes in Reverse is doing such crucial work by educating young people about good mental health and suicide prevention. I love volunteering with AIR because I know we're making a difference and it's so rewarding. I've had great opportunities to educate others and learn as well. Getting my dog certified as a therapy dog and volunteering with her brings great meaning and depth to our relationship. AIR is fabulous!
