Every Day Action is amazing. I have worked many positions on a set and I am constantly dismayed at how much food is wasted. It's not production's fault necessarily, sometimes there are very long hours and lunch must be served at midnight (or later) when no one is really interested in eating. I can tell you I am not the only crew member who sees fresh, warm meals laid out and wishes aloud that they could find their way into the hands of people who really need them. Sometimes it is horrible to shoot on location, right next to an encampment and see that the food that could help someone make it through another day must be jettisoned in the garbage not two blocks away from someone who needs that meal. It shouldn't be on the catering department to have to decide how to go around production and deliver these meals into the right hands. They have many things on their minds, they don't have the time, and production insurance cannot be expected to cover this work. But, thankfully, Every Day Action has figured out how to do this. I have worked on sets and seen them, first hand, pick up untouched, nutritious, delicious food that would have otherwise ended up wasted and speedily deliver it to encampments, shelters and into peoples' hands. I have seen the people they serve and I can tell you how much joy, and hope EDA provides. The work they do is going to change the entertainment industry, it will lessen food waste in Los Angeles, and beyond that, most importantly, it has the power to save lives.
Every Day Action provides a great service to feeds the homeless people in Los Angeles. I have been involved with this organization since its inception and have seen the good work they do first hand. They have fed thousands of people each year.
Although food waste on film and television sets was a subject that had been often talked about, it was the team at Every Day Action who actually did something about it and set out to make a difference.
Their unwavering drive and dedication to help those in need is truly incredible to see put into practice.
It has been so rewarding to see how they have been able to assist countless people and to be a small part in helping them achieve their goals.
Every Day Action has an exceptional team doing exceptional work, offering their time and effort to locate, pick up, package, and deliver nutritious food from companies (who might otherwise throw it away) to those in dire need of it. Their standards of food health and safety paired with their active networking, fundraising, and approach to sharing their mission and message show their dedication to creating a better future for everyone.
Every Day Action is an amazing organization on the rise in the Greater Los Angeles Area. Such a simple concept for someone to accomplish meaningful things with their spare time. One action everyday can make a huge difference to someone in need. I have even taken my 11yr old son with me to reallocation drop-offs at shelters or encampments to try to broaden his understanding on all aspects of the city we live in and hopefully instill some of the compassion/empathy that this organization brings. The sheer volume of food that this non-profit is able to reallocate to those who are food insecure or unhoused is staggering. Truely an incredible movement led by a group of individuals with unparalleled passion for the simple act of human kindness.
I have been volunteering for Every Day Action since their founding, and I can say with upmost certainty that the founders Hillary Cohen and Sam Luu CARE about every single ounce of food that has the potential to getting to those in need. It so so heartwarming to see individuals put the effort in day after day, no matter morning, evening, weekend, or holiday to help those in need. They are incredibly gracious to their volunteers, inviting them to their events and offering them food and drink in reward for their service as well. Issues are addressed swiftly and professionally, ensuring that everyone from those coordinating the food pick-ups to those picking them up and delivering to people in need have a seamless experience. It has been a joy watching this non-profit grow and helping whenever possible.
Every Day Action is an amazing organization. What they are able to accomplish is truly mindboggling. Hillary Cohen and team go above and beyond at every opportunity to make the world a better place and make life for the unhoused in Los Angeles a little bit easier. They reallocate food and resources to the underserved community by rallying employees and volunteers every single day. I feel fortunate to be involved with this remarkable non-profit.
For decades, Los Angeles has had an ugly problem of BOTH city-wide food insecurity as well as daily, large-scale food waste from film and television production (among others). Seeing EDA finally crack the code and build the bridge necessary to help remedy both of these problems at once has been a godsend. An efficient and important organization that impacts people EVERY single DAY (as the name suggests), they are a perfect example of how much good can be done with simple dedicated action. Every time I'm able to volunteer with them I am so moved by the sheer amount of food - and by proxy, hope - their team is able to save and provide for people across the city. I'm proud to know and support the lovely, big-hearted folks at Every Day Action and our city is a much better place to live because of them. We live in a world of abundance! We just need to find ways to share it with everyone. EDA proves that more than ever.
It brings me to tears when I see the response of those whose days are changed by the non-profit Every Day Action. It is very easy to walk by a homeless person and ignore them. The sheer number of those in need is mind boggling, and they become a meaningless as a tree on a corner.
The volunteers , those with Every Day Action, SEE and RECOGNIZE each and every human.
I am not a religious person, but somewhere along the way I remember a quote from the Bible, " For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat....." This is the mantra of Every Day Action.
I am abundantly grateful for Every Day Action....Everyday!
Every Day Action is doing extraordinary work! This incredible volunteer based organization rescues food that would otherwise go to waste and redistributes it to unhoused people all over Los Angeles. They truly make a difference in the lives of people in need every day AND help save the environment at the same time.
There is no one like the amazing humans at Every Day Action! This GREAT nonprofit has soared since it launched in 2020, dedicated to rescuing leftover, unserved food from Los Angeles TV and film sets (and much more) and delivering it to hungry and unhoused people in need. The founders and many of the volunteers work in the entertainment industry, which is why so many productions trust EDA on their sets to eliminate food waste and do some good for the community. I love volunteering with these wonderful people and helping EDA become the must-have nonprofit collaborator for every TV and film production.
Every Day Action is an amazing organization helping the unsheltered in greater Los Angeles. They pick up food from film/tv catering trucks that is destined for the garbage and deliver it to those in need. They will deliver it directly to encampments, to LA Community Fridges or a network of shelters and community orgs helping the unsheltered. It's an honor to volunteer with them as both a Board Member and directly on the streets picking up food and delivering hygiene kits!
