With the aid of more than 500 dedicated volunteers - including cornea recipients, donor families and healthcare professionals - eversight helped the national donor registry grow to 130 million registered donors.
finding a cure in the pursuit to eliminate corneal blindness, the eversight center for eye and vision research is one of the only eye bank-led programs providing clinician-scientists the innovative resources they need to find cures and treatments for eye diseases like macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. Eversight delivers more than 3,000 tissues for research and education annually and has awarded 3 million to its research partners since 1980, including nine grants totaling more than 150,000 in 2016. Eversight seeks to change the future of eye and vision research with its eye disease donor registry and biorepository, set to launch in 2017. Through the program, eversight will collect, process, store and distribute ocular tissue that matches the specific needs of researchers, accelerating new cures and treatments for blinding eye conditions.
