Causes: Business & Industry
Mission: Evergreen inc-your north brooklyn business exchange (evergreen) is a membership organization that promotes the development and retention of production, manufacturing and industrial service businesses thus improving neighborhoods in north brooklyn and surrounding communities. We connect businesses with resources and opportunities to maximize their competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Programs: Industrial development- managed 22,400 square feet of affordable industrial real estate to retain more manufacturing jobs in our community. Our staff helped 32 businesses navigate government agencies resulting in 25 successful outcomes. More than 114 firms sent over 185 attendees to our social mixers, 145 firms attended informational workshops and 50 firms received one-on-one assistance from evergreen staff in over 105 issues.
evergreen, through its llc, purchased a 10,000-square-foot industrial building and a 3,200-square-foot industrial building to retain industry and high-quality working class jobs in the community for the long term and in 2012 purchased buildings known as 158 and 164 cook street for $2,430,000 with city capital dollars and a loan for $135,000 from jpmorgan chase bank.
