Regis House is a very special place to me as I grew up as a daughter of a Juniors of Social Service member. As a child, my mother used to take me to the previous Regis House location in West LA to help volunteer by cooking and serving Thanksgiving dinner to the homeless, preparing lunches for the homeless, playing Bingo with the elderly, tutoring children after schools and collecting donation items. My connection to Regis House as a volunteer has taught me the gift of giving back that I have cherished and continued throughout my life. Now as an adult, I am a member of the Executive Board of the Juniors of Social Service and have watched the transition that Regis House has taken from the previous location to the new location on Beverly Blvd and am anxiously waiting the doors to be open to the community in the next couple of months. Regis House is a "Happy Place", a "Safe Place", a "Growing Place" where children, families, homeless and elderly can come and be welcomed with open arms, love and support. "To see the smiles on the children's faces when they get to go to summer camp, make Easter eggs for the first time, wear their first Halloween costume to the comfort of a nice lunch or a warm Thanksgiving meal with fellowship is all that I need to continue my support to this very special Regis House.
