I have had the honor of working with Esperanza International for 11 years. First as a volunteer building homes in Tijuana, and for the past 3 years as a board member. Working with Esperanza is a life changing event. It's hard, physical work; but laboring side by side with other volunteers, and the families in Tijuana is what it is really about. Building communities and changing lives on both sides of the border.

Mission: Esperanza International cultivates global citizenship through international service experiences in working toward a better world. We are dedicated to alleviating poverty in the San Diego/Tijuana transborder region by building strong community leadership, developing organizational skills, and strengthening ties among community members. We believe that people achieve the greatest potential to transform their quality of life by taking responsibility and working through their communities.
Target demographics: low-income families obtain dignified housing.
