Mission: To expose forms of racial discrimination, advocate for laws and policies that eliminate racial disparities, increase understanding of how structural racism and segregation impact our communities and region, and engage the public in fostering equity and inclusion.
Programs: Education: the education equity initiative is a multifaceted program to increase knowledge and understanding of the barriers to and benefits of public school education and equity in long island's public schools. It equips and mobilizes students, teachers, administrators, parents, and other stakeholders to develop and advocate for measures that advance integrative learning environments.
partner: erase racism educates and mobilizes long islanders to support policies and practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in our area. We do this via interactive forums, workshops, and trainings; use of social, alternative, and mainstream media; and uplifting stories of those impacted by racism.
racism research and programming: erase racism engages in research, policy analysis, and advocacy to address structural racism in areas beyond our core program issues of housing and public school education. Using social and digital media and other activities, we highlight issues ranging from hate speech to disparities in disaster relief and incarceration, and engage in dialogue with partners and members of the general public.
