This rescue rescues the OTTB cast-off thereby saving these exceptional horses from slaughter. They are a 501 3C which is great for making monetary donations tax-deductible. I highly recommend this group for the work that they do.
An exceptional facility for equines. I have visited several times, and each time I am more impressed with the level of care provided to the animals. Equally as important, is that Equine Advocates excels in their education and advocacy work aimed at promoting the humane treatment of horses everywhere.
Review from Guidestar
I am approaching my one year anniversary as a volunteer at EA. I needed to get my "horse fix" - the smell of the barn and the equines is like perfume to me! I see my Thursday mornings in the barn as therapy...my peaceful time...listening to the murmurs of the residents calms my soul and the cares of the world are far away. EA is home to PMU mares, 2 handsome mustangs, Amish work mules, ponies, mini horses, Thoroughbreds, warm bloods, quarter horses, Standardbreds, a Haflinger dressage mare, mini donkeys and Charlotte and Tuffy, the Pygmy goats. I'm sure I've forgotten a breed or two, but all have found sanctuary here, some right off the kill truck, because of Susan and Karen Wagner and their staff. The care that these horses receive is outstanding and they need never want for a clean, dry stall, fresh water, grain and supplements, pasture time with friends, vet and farrier care, grooming and most of all love. This is a very worthy cause to donate to, and you are always invited to tour the farm and see what we're all about. Come say 'hi' to me in the feed room, and we'll tour this wonderful sanctuary together!
Excellent operation, the managmenet is above excellent. well use of resources. horses are maintained perfectly, education programs are the leader in this field. Susen, Karen and the rest of the staff are dedicated 100% to this job and work it is total passion. Could not reccomend a better place to send your donations to or visit. SMILE producing
