I’ve been volunteering at Equestrian Inc for over two years.
It is truly a special place. The stables are always clean and well-maintained. The horses are well groomed and healthy.
Most importantly, they treat every horse with incredible patience, compassion, and respect. All the horses (& resident donkey, cats, & dogs) are clearly loved.
A wonderful place doing amazing work!
I always look forward to my time volunteering there.
We’ve been volunteering at Equestrian, Inc. for three years now. We love being a part of such an amazing organization and have met new friends (horse and human) along the way.

I've learned so much at EI. Honestly, we came so Bailey (my daughter) could get service hours, and I was willing to help since I didn't want to just sit there. But I've created a bond with the horses, the mission, and with other volunteers. We love spending time there each week. My goal is to help wherever I can. I'm comfortable grooming and mucking. I'd love to continue to learn more and more about taking care of them. Honestly, the best thing has been watching Bailey grow in learning and caring, and training. These are memories we will never forget, and I'm grateful for the time with her.
If you need a horse fix like I do, Equestrian Inc is a great place to volunteer. The horses are well taken care of and loved. The more experienced volunteers are very welcoming and are willing to share their knowledge and experiences.
“Playing”, at many barns over the past twenty plus years I can say I’ve seen and experienced quite a few wonderful things and sadly some atrocities. The latter may come into Equestrian Inc Horse Rescue, but they always leave better than their first day there. The owners and volunteers are sincerely dedicated to the horses and other animals alike. Rehabilitation programs that are provided make sure the horses are healthy, happy and as sound as possible before they are adopted.
I am a fairly new volunteer. This rescue is very impressive from its cleanliness and individual stall set ups to the care given to the horses. The horses are groomed , exercised, given treats and lots of loving. Great place to volunteer.
We found out our friend volunteers here and our daughter asked to go. Of course we said yes and now she has been volunteering the past 2 years every chance she gets. We love hearing the stories and things she did throughout the day. Last week she got to braid her favorites horses hair (Victoria). Each horse has their own incredible story. The horses are very well taken care of and trained. The owners are very sweet and loving of their animals. We can't forget about Archie the resident donkey, he is such a loving boy. I am glad there is such a wonderful place that our daughter can volunteer and enjoy her love for horses at the same time. Definitely a place you want to go to be around such amazing animals and people.
**Title: A Life-Changing Journey Through Poop: My Barnyard Enlightenment**
Ah, the humble barnyard—where dreams of pastoral tranquility meet the gritty reality of shoveling poop. What started as a daunting chore quickly morphed into an unexpected journey of self-discovery and personal growth. Yes, dear reader, I stand before you today a changed person, all thanks to the noble act of shoveling poop at a barn.
**Chapter 1: The Call of Dung**
It all began one crisp morning when I found myself staring into the abyss of a mountainous dung heap. The aroma, an intriguing blend of earthiness and existential dread, greeted me like an old friend. Armed with nothing but a shovel and a faint hope of survival, I ventured forth into this odorous abyss.
**Chapter 2: Embracing Humility**
As I dug deeper into the mire of manure, I realized that humility was not just a virtue but a necessity. There’s nothing quite like a pile of steaming poop to remind you of your place in the grand scheme of things. With each scoop, I shed layers of pretense and embraced the simple joy of hard work—albeit in the most aromatic of settings.
**Chapter 3: Zen and the Art of Poop**
In the midst of my laborious toil, I discovered the zen-like art of poop shoveling. It’s not just about moving excrement from point A to point B; it’s about finding harmony in the chaos, rhythm in the ruckus, and beauty in the beastly. With each shovel full, I found myself achieving a state of mind that philosophers and poets have sought for centuries—a state of poop-induced enlightenment.
**Chapter 4: Bonds Forged in Fertilizer**
They say that shared hardships forge the strongest bonds, and nowhere is this more true than in the barnyard. Amidst the symphony of moos and clucks, I bonded with fellow shovelers over tales of triumph and tragedy. We laughed, we cried (mostly from the smell), and we found solace in the communal struggle against the relentless tide of dung.
**Chapter 5: The Poop Paradigm Shift**
Somewhere between scooping and sweating, a paradigm shift occurred within me. I no longer saw poop as mere waste; I saw it as potential—a nutrient-rich canvas upon which new life could flourish. From fertilizer to philosopher, I had unlocked the secrets of the universe hidden within each steaming pile.
**Chapter 6: Lessons Learned**
In conclusion, dear reader, shoveling poop at a barn has taught me invaluable lessons. It has taught me patience, perseverance, and the art of finding humor in life’s stinkiest moments. It has shown me that sometimes, the most profound transformations come from the most unlikely of places—like a barnyard, knee-deep in dung.
So, the next time life hands you a shovel and points you towards a pile of poop, embrace it. Embrace the challenge, embrace the aroma, and embrace the opportunity to discover your own path to enlightenment. After all, as I’ve learned, there’s more to poop than meets the nose.
**Epilogue: A New Dawn**
As I bid farewell to my days in the barnyard, I carry with me not just memories of manure but a newfound perspective on life. For in the end, it’s not about the poop you shovel but the person you become along the way. And so, with shovel in hand and a heart full of fertilizer, I march forth into the world, forever grateful for the transformative power of barnyard enlightenment.
Thus concludes my epic tale—a tale of dung and destiny, of laughter and life lessons. May it inspire you to find your own barnyard, your own shovel, and your own path to becoming a better person.
I had an amazing experience at this rescue. I was able to actually meet the horses and get to know their personalities the few times I’ve gone. Being able to interact with the horses and see how different each of them ride was an experience I will never forget. Everyone was so sweet and helpful as well!
growing up my neighbors kept a horse in the fields across the street. so, i had some exposure to horses. i did ride a few times in my life. many many years later a good friemd of mine invited me to visit Equestrian Inc. i was so plesantly surprised by the beauty of the enormous thoroughbreds and how good they looked. the barn was organized, the grounds beautiful, and the other volunteers i met were so passionate. As i spent more time at the farm i began to realize the effort the owners and key volunteers exude to care for these hoses. impressive !
Amazing non profit! The horses are happy and well taken care of. The people who run Equestrian Inc are fantastic, big hearted people who not only love what they do, but are very educated on how to nourish the horses. Each time I volunteer, I have a wonderful experience, everyone is so welcoming and kind. They do a great job and I will continue to show my support!
I recently started volunteering at Equestrian Inc., and have loved every minute of it! This organization has an extremely welcoming environment and provides top notch care for all of its horses. I highly encourage everyone to get involved and support this organization!
I've been working with Equestrian Inc for almost 5 years now. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about their horses as well as their care and the thoroughbred breed as whole. I've always felt welcome and like I've found a family at Equestrian Inc. Horses rehabilitated by Equestrian Inc are always well-mannered and well-cared for. This non-profit is nothing short of amazing and I will continue to support these horses!

Been volunteering at EI for almost 4 years now, and I have learned so much. Carol and Dee Ann are very knowledgable about their horses and the racing industry and very welcoming to new volunteers. They provide you with the tools and information to succeed and learn as a volunteer and really get the most out of your time with the horses.
It has been a great experience working with this non profit. They truly care for the horses and everyone I have encountered has been very pleasant.
I’ve been coming here for about two years now and at the beginning I thought it would be a good way to get service hours, but I’ve also realized how important the work we do is. We are providing a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable environment for the residents here and the ones who stop here on their road to recovery that they may not have experienced before. This rescue has taught me quick thinking skills and a compassion that was difficult to understand before. It taught me when something needs to be done to not be afraid to get my hands dirty. I have enjoyed my time here and can’t wait to spend the next couple years here and see in which new ways I’ve grown.
Equestrian Inc. Equine Rescue has been a dedicated sanctuary for many years, providing exceptional care and rehabilitation for thoroughbreds. The peaceful and welcoming environment benefits both horses and volunteers, with DeeAnn, who runs the nonprofit, treating each horse like her own. Volunteering at Equestrian Inc. has been incredibly rewarding. We make sure the horses receive excellent care, ensuring they are always happy and healthy. Equestrian Inc. sets a high standard in their commitment to caring for retired or injured racehorses, providing a loving, warm environment where they can be rehabilitated and adopted or enjoy their years to come. Please support this fantastic nonprofit, which spares no effort in giving these horses the best life possible :)
Equestrian Inc. Equine Rescue has been around for many years and has helped many horses. The horses are very well taken care of and the facility is top notch for rehabbing thoroughbreds. It is a peaceful welcoming environment for both the volunteers and horses.
Equestrian Inc has been a wonderful rewarding place to spend my time volunteering. I started with them at their old location and now drive the distance to Brandon, Florida location. These horses are well cared for and spoiled by a great group of volunteers. But DeeAnn who runs this Nonprofit is the best and treats all the horses like her babies! She is always making sure they are well cared for and that they are all happy and healthy!! These off the track horses are given a great second chance at a great life with a new family who will love them and continue on with their great care. ❤️

Equestrian, Inc. sets the bar very high in terms of their commitment to caring for these retired or injured race horses that the owners just simply are ready to discard. They open their doors to these abandoned horses and bring them in and show love and care for them
and give them a loving warm environment for them to either be rehabilitated and adopted out to a new family or to enjoy their years being doted on by their fabulous volunteers and the owners of the nonprofit. They spare nothing in their efforts to give these horses their best life possible!!
Please support this fantastic nonprofit!!
I’ve been a volunteer here for about 2 months. I was hesitant at first, it’s been a long time since I’ve worked with horses…but I was tired of missing that piece of my life, so I jumped right in. My experience has been amazing! The horses are very well taken care of. All of them are clean, well groomed, well fed…their stalls are kept tidy too! They have beautiful pastures to be turned out in and everyone pays attention to who gets along with who, so there’s little “drama” between the horses in the pastures. I’m still learning about all the wonderful things that is “equestrian Inc”. I can tell you, right off the bat, the owners and volunteers all have a deep commitment and a genuine love for these beautiful animals. We all make sure they are loved and pampered and live the best life possible. I am honored to be part Eq Inc, and I’m excited about my future with them!
I have been volunteering with Equestrian Inc for over two years, and having been around horses my whole life, I can truly say that the horses we have are the most well cared for horses I have ever worked with. We all believe in giving these horses the life they deserve after their racing careers are finished, and we work hard to make sure that they are happily adjusted into the best new homes.

I have worked with horses for many years, but Equestrian Inc will forever hold a special place in my heart. They take exceptional care of their horses and make sure to find the best homes for those that can be adopted out, or provide a loving environment for their longterm residents. Having the opportunity to help care for these horses has been a wonderful experience; I fully applaud the work that the team has done to show love to retired racehorses who might not otherwise have the opportunity to discover a new path.
I've been a volunteer for 4 years and I cannot say enough about how well the horses are treated. They come from race tracks and have to relearn what it is to be a horse. They are guided carefully into their new life and they love it. I've been to other rescues and they cannot compare with Equestrian Inc.
A truly exceptional thoroughbred rescue and sanctuary. I have been volunteering at Eq Inc for many years. I am so impressed how well the horses are cared for and loved on. The barn is always neat and clean, the horses are well groomed, the volunteers are dedicated and willing to do anything for the owners. In addition, the atmosphere is peaceful and tranquil. What a wonderful opportunity to connect with these amazing animals.

I started volunteering at Equestrian Inc. three years ago. In retrospect, its one of the best decision I have ever made. Honestly, I didn't know anyone there I just wanted to work with horses. I wasn't familiar with their rich history nor their accreditation with the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. In fact, I learned much later, Equestrian Inc. is one of only 8 nationally accredited Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance farms in the state of Florida.
I just showed up one day after filling out the online volunteer form. Some of the more veteran volunteers showed me how to muck the stalls. Important work but not the most glamorous. You really have to love horses to muck stalls. Luckily, so many people love these amazing horses like I do.
I watched others, I asked a lot of questions, and offered to help in any way around the farm.
Three years later, I am grooming, mucking, feeding, and appreciating these gentle giants. My best days are those peaceful moments/hours on the farm and in the pasture when the heavy work is done and I am surrounded by the most beautiful horses in the world.
Equestrian Inc. has brought me tranquility, peace, and soooo much happiness.
I've been with Equestrian Inc. for 13 years and it was the best decision I've ever made. We re-hap, retrain and re-home the Off The Track Thoroughbred. They come to us from the race track or training center and it's out job to get them ready for their second career as someone's forever friend. It's so rewarding to see the change in the horse when they are introduced to a new work pattern. Thoroughbreds love to work and they need a job. Whether it be jumping, dressage, eventing ,barrel racing or just someone's beloved trail horse, the Thoroughbred is up to it. Our horses are so very well cared for and each horse becomes part of the family. Just visit and you'll agree.
I volunteered for about 3 years at Equestrian Inc. It was the best decision of my life. Each of the horses are so loved and cared for. Everyone is very friendly and share their love of horses and knowledge. They are dedicated to rehabilitating and its wonderful to see the horses improve and thrive and find loving homes. The stalls and grounds are kept in great condition as well as constantly improving. I can't say enough good things about this non-profit. It truly is a remarkable peaceful place for the horses and volunteers alike.
I started volunteering at Equestrian Inc. about a month ago, and I am beyond glad that I did. They care so much for the horses there and really do help provide them a safe place to recover and move on to the next parts of their lives. I look forward to going back every week as it is such a peaceful and healing environment, for both the horses and people. I am so glad that I can help out here and truly enjoy it!
I’ve been volunteering at Equestrian Inc for a couple of weeks and I love it! Everyone is so kind and you can tell how deeply they care about their horses. I love helping in any way that I can and I look forward to going back to the barn every week! It is such a peaceful place full of loving animals and loving people. They are doing such an amazing job!
I've been volunteering at this great rescue for over 2 years. Every time I see how happy and healthy the horses are it just gives me a sense of accomplishment. Everyone at the rescue is so very concerned with the horses well being. The horses are treated like rock stars and they really do appreciate it. I can't say enough good things about how wonderful a place this is.
Some of my softball teammates and I volunteered at Equestrian Inc. This establishment is great! You can tell the horses are well cared for. They have this cutie Archie(the donkey)! The other volunteers and owner DeeAnn are amazing. Thank you for all that you do for the animals!
I’ve been volunteering at Equestrian Inc for a year now and couldn’t be happier with my experience! This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in getting to learn more about these amazing animals. Whether you have pervious experience with horses or not there’s always something you can do and lots to learn! The owner is super nice and has made the barn feel like home and provided guidance and knowledge in all areas of horsemanship and animal care! One of the best places I’ve ever volunteered!

After being involved in the horse community for many years I’ve been truly inspired and impressed with the work that Equestrian Inc does. Not only is this nonprofit focused of rehabilitating the horses under their care, but they are set apart by the devotion and compassion that they have for these animals. No detail goes overlooked and every horse is given special attention whether that be vet care and rehab or getting comfortable being off the track and under saddle.
My experience volunteering here has been truly amazing and I find myself learning more every day from the owner and other volunteers. This is truly a one of a kind rescue that I’ve had the pleasure of volunteering at over the last few months. It’s amazing experience for everyone from those with little to no horse knowledge to those with years of experience! The community and team of volunteers is a pleasure to work with and everyone involved clearly cares about not only the safety of these animals but their happiness as well!
There is an incredible amount of expertise, time, and money that goes into running this amazing rescue. The horses get a level of love and care many have never gotten before and are given whatever they need to make a smooth transition into their new roles off the track.
I can not say enough about this wonderful nonprofit Equestrian, Inc. Horse Rescue!
I have visited the farm on several occasions and I am always impressed with the volunteers there and so decided to become one myself!
The horses are treated like Kings and Queens and get a lot of love and nurturing as well as great vet care and personal care. I've been especially impressed with the extra mile they go to make sure each horse is comfortable and paired up with a good pasture mate.
I look forward to getting to meet the new horses that are taken in at this incredible horse rescue!
I have visited several horse rescues and Equestrian Inc. is by far the best. The horses are all treated so well both emotionally and physically. They have several large pastures in which to spend their days grazing and just hanging out with their pasture buddies. When it’s meal time they come in to a well-tended stall with a full hay net and grain bucket. The volunteers treat each horse with love and respect. Many of the horses that come to the farm have never eaten a carrot or an apple. They soon learn that those are very tasty treats. The horses that are to be put up for adoption are given an individualized training program. It is so important that each horse is given the chance to live up to it’s potential and go on to a productive and rewarding second career at their new forever home. For the older retired horses, they will stay at the farm living out their days as valued and pampered seniors. Equestrian Inc. is a wonderful place for both horses and volunteers.
Equestrian Inc is such a special place where horses can come to recover from their time on the track. It provides sanctuary to the horses that may have otherwise been discarded. It is run with love and passion and it is amazing to be a part of the process.
I've volunteered at several horse rescues but Equestrian Inc is set apart by their genuine love and caring for their horses. The horses come to us from the racetracks and most have never received any special care and almost certainly no love and affection. We have seen them bloom under the individual care that they receive. Their individual personalities shine right through. It's an amazing and beautiful thing to see. I would recommend this rescue wholeheartedly.
I have volunteered with Equestrian Inc. for 5 years. They are so caring and knowledgeable about horses and their care. Each horse is very special to them. This is a great place for someone just wanting to learn about horses and a great place for the experienced horse person.
Being able to successfully keep Equestrian Inc in operation since my mother’s passing has not only kept her spirit alive in many aspects, but it also has allowed us to help so many new horses find their forever homes. Without support from our volunteers, donors, and organizations such as the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, we would not be able to do what we do. It takes a village!
Noting but the best for these loving animals. Great care, knowledgeable volunteers, friendly environment.
Horses are the #1 priority here. Cared for with love and top quality products and services.

Equestrian Inc. is a wonderful home for the horses who have the privilege to come live there while being rehabilitated. I have been volunteering there for several months and am impressed with the quality of care, love, close attention, patience, and affection given to every horse there. There is a celebration as well as some sadness when a horse is well enough to leave the rescue to their new thoroughly vetted home. I am happy to be a part of the Equestrian Inc. team!
I have never experienced anything like this before. Equestrian Inc. has educated me on what it truly takes to help these incredible horses out. I feel like the passion these volunteers have is unmatched and the energy there is beyond positive. I enjoyed my time there and hope to visit again sometime soon!
The amount of care and compassion I have experienced from all parties involved in this place is unmatched! Everyone involved is very dedicated to the work that happens here and devotes their time to making this a great place. I honestly will gladly visit again!
I have had the privilege of watching this rescue grow over the years and rehabilitate countless wonderful horses off of the track. As a volunteer, I am grateful to be a part of a much bigger picture. I am excited to see their journey impact many more thoroughbreds as they continue to rehabilitate, rehome, and retrain.

I have volunteered and donated to this reputable nonprofit equine rescue for over ten years now. They give excellent care, rehabilitation, and retirement services for all of their horses and livestock. They give kind and compassionate attention to all of their residents and I would highly recommend this organization to anyone looking to donate their time and/or resources to such a great mission.
This is my 11th year at Equestian Inc. as a volunteer. I can't say enough as to how the horses are loved and treated with respect. Volunteering at our farm brings benefits to the horses and also to the volunteer. Not only are you caring for the horses but you will feel good about yourself in this very important role of helping these beautiful animals. Each horse has a very distinct personality and it's fun just watching them interact with one another. Equestian Inc is a great place for anyone who loves horses and wants to learn more about them.

I have been volunteering at Equestrian Inc for 8 years and it has been a life changing experience. The horses are cared for with love and attention to the smallest detail. Each horse has it's own diet plan written out on white board in the feed room. Each horse receives daily attention to their overall well-being. They could not receive more love and attention anywhere. It is truly a wonderful place with totally dedicated people. In addition Equestrian Inc. serves the general public by participating in Bright Futures and also with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department Community Service Program.
I have been volunteering here for three years alongside some of the most wonderful, dedicated people committed not only to the welfare of these horses but also teaching people about equine care. The horses have all the space, dietary requirements, farrier and veterinary services they need to recover from any past injuries that may have brought them to the farm and to continue to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The passion and dedication of the founders is evident in how these animals are cared for and thriving.
My dad and I have been volunteering at Equestrian Inc for the past four years. We absolutely love giving our time to this organization. The efforts of all volunteers can clearly be seen through the health and happiness of the horses. This rescue goes above and beyond to care for and rehabilitate horses. There is nothing greater then seeing a once skittish and timid horse develop into a forthcoming and trusting horse. This is all due to the hardwork and dedication that Equestrian Inc has for the horses. They go to all lengths to make sure the horses are taken care of, given the special support that rescue horses need, and all the love and attention a horse could have. We happily give our time and encourage others to support Equestrian Inc whenever we get a chance. It is one of the best organizations that we have been a part of.
I have learned so much about horse care at Equestrian Inc. The horses are happy, well cared for, and the volunteers are all great and work hard. I love volunteering here.
Having worked with horses for the past 20 years, I can tell that the horses at Equestrian Inc are all happy and very well cared for. From timely farrier visits to customized diets and expert vet care, it's apparent that the Equestrian Inc team knows what they're doing and always put the horses needs first. This is a wonderful organization and a peaceful safe haven for retired racehorses.
Equestrian Inc is a wonderful rescue that focuses on the rehoming of retired racing Thoroughbreds. They are very grass roots and completely run by volunteers. The horses are in great condition and very happy. I have been a volunteer for 2 years and have seen many horses, a dog, and a pig get placed in loving homes. It's just an awesome place with people that really care.

I have been volunteering at Equestrian Inc. for 7 years now. We are a small but dedicated rescue, mostly for off the track thoroughbred rescues, but have taken in other horses when the need was there. The horses are treated with love, dignity and great care. It's always a joy when we can place the horses in their new homes.

I have been volunteering at Equestrian Inc for 4 years. I have seen many horses come in and many leave for new homes. Each horse has a different story but the story at Equestrian Inc remains the same. We are dedicated volunteers, all of us, who want the homes and lives that the horses deserve to become true. In addition to horses, we have had donkeys, cats, dogs and goats that receive the love that are needed towards rescues. I think many of the volunteers look at as a rehabilitation for ourselves and I have also met many people, needing to serve community service, who have had their lives changed by Equestrian Inc.
I have volunteered here for over a year, and I've found my spot. Volunteers are awesome, horses are awesome, well cared for, vetted and everyone is encouraged to develop relationships with all the horses, not mention learning all about horse care. It doesn't matter if you have no horse experience, they are happy to teach.

I have known everyone at this organization for many many years, both two and four-legged. You will not find a more caring loving atmosphere for the animals here. Their health and nurturing comes first to all who care for these animals day in and day out. I love being there and the peace that is felt.. this organization and its founder, have stepped up for horses in need when no one else would.
I have been volunteering for 6 years now at Equestrian Inc. Rescue, Rehabilitate and Rehome is more than a slogan, It's the stories behind the horses and the love and care given to them by volunteers over the years. There is a reason that Equestrian Inc. has been at this location for over 30 years.
Equestrian Inc has been a great place for me to spend time with both the animals and volunteers who share a common goal. What I love most, is their continued efforts to improve the facility and care given to the horses. Recently, a small group of volunteers completed the installation of a brand new roof over multiple weekend. They worked through incredibly hot summer days and around inclement weather. It was completed just in time for the Florida "hurricane season". This, to me, shows how dedicated the volunteers of Equestrian Inc are to providing top notch care to the horses that call Equestrian Inc. home.
I’ve been volunteering at Equestrian Inc. for the last several months. I’ve met numerous people, gained an immense amount of knowledge and truly value the time I spend there. Equestrian Inc. is ran by a wonderful, hard working president who constantly seeks to improve the lives of her horses. The volunteers and board members are clearly dedicated to the mission of the rescue. I will continue to happily dedicate my time, effort and energy in the future.
Equestrian inc. is an amazing organization. Everybody at the stables is very nice and will explain anything you don't understand. I enjoyed volunteering there and plan to keep returning for a long time. Its the best volunteer experience I've had; and you can tell the horses are well taken care of and loved. Everything about the stables is great, I definitely recommend equestrian inc. , especially if your looking for horse experience.
I had a great time at Equestrian Inc. The hands on work and getting to work near the horses was my favorite. I will certainly volunteer again and I recommend others to join as well.
As current President of the University of Tampa's Paws for a Cause, I can truly say that our members love volunteering here. We typically bring 20 volunteers once a semester, an event we all look forward to. Equestrian Inc is a fantastic organization that is based on volunteer work. This is one aspect thats so awesome about Equestrian Inc because you really know that your hard work is making a difference. There are plenty of different hands-on tasks, like land maintenance, stall cleaning, changing food/water, grooming, painting, and more! The best part is that no matter what you're doing, there are always horses nearby. The backbone volunteers are so appreciative, welcoming, and encourage everyone to interact with the horses. I would definitely recommend volunteering here if you like horses, don't mind some physical labor, and strive to make animal's lives better!
I recently started volunteering at Equestrian Inc. and am thankful for the continued opportunity to do so. Each visit, I am impressed by the dedicated, kind people that run the sanctuary farm. Each visit, I observed how the horses are loved so much and are well taken care of. Each visit, I am welcomed and appreciated. I hope and wish that Equine Inc. continues to grow in abundance, so that the mission and goals for the horses are always met.
I adopted a 10 year old retired racehorse from Equestrian Inc. My horse spent most of his life at the racetrack and he is a little difficult to handle sometimes if you are not experienced with horses. I tried to board him at another facility but it did not work out and Equestrian Inc. welcomed him back (injured at the time) and now I board him there. There are other horses that came back for various reasons. Caring for retired TBs can be a challenge and not all facilities understand them and know how to make them happy and minimize the injuries. Equestrian Inc. makes whatever adjustments are needed to care for the special needs of each horse.
Any horse lovers out there that want more experience this is a great place to learn.
This is truly a horse paradise. The owners and volunteers work really hard to keep all the horses happy and comfortable.
I was first introduced to Equestrian Inc about 5 years ago. I was part of an organization called the Tampa Connection and my team did a project for them to help with their marketing and public relations. I really enjoyed my time there and believed in what they did.
A little over a year ago, my son needed to choose non-profits to work with for both his 8th grade project and his confirmation. I mentioned to him about my experience with Equestrian, Inc and he chose to work as a volunteer there for both projects. He also thoroughly loved his experience.
Now that both of his projects are complete, I am happy to say that he, my wife and I still volunteer there almost every Friday and we look forward to doing so for a long time!
Equestrian Inc. is an amazing organization that provides love and care to horses in need. The volunteers are always so welcoming and are really committed to taking care of the animals.
I started volunteering with Equestrian Inc. almost 4 years ago. Having been around several animal rescue organizations I can attest to the depth of care for the horses (and other animals that come across our barn) and treating the volunteers well. The organization is run in a manner that puts the horses' health first. It has enriched my life being part of this organization not only rescuing horses but helping people and teaching kids horsemanship that they truly enjoy.
I was glad to have the opportunity to volunteer at Equestrian Inc. The people there were very welcoming and just happy to be around horses. I thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of this cute little farm tucked away in the middle of the city. Nothing better than spending quality time with horses in need of some love!!
Equestrian inc. is a wonderful place. Everyone is so dedicated about the health and well-being of the horses. It makes me truly happy, that there is a place like this where rescued horses can live a happy life.
Being a volunteer now for about 3 months I feel I truly understand how much each and every person really cares for the horses that live there you can tell that they are loved respected and most of all in a safe place I look forward to taking care of them each and every weekend -Zoë
Absolutely best time my family and I have had in years! So informative, exciting, and just plain out amazing. The horses have the life for sure... if I could retire with this option give me a stall.
Equestrian Inc changed my life like it does for the horses.Every single person that works there is loving and passionate about caring for the horses no matter the needs.I have seen a horses personality change for the better from the kindness they receive there.

The horses at Equestrian Inc Tampa Fl are alive and well because of the sincere and heartfelt work of the founder and board. The horses are loved, fed, stabled, and given medical care all because of the tireless dedication of Glenda, DeeAnn,Carol, Jack and a multitude of others that fund raise and actually do alllll of the daily feeding, mucking and whatever else needs done for the horses care. Happy horses!
I been volunteering since 2016 at Equestrian Inc, growing up with horses. I learned that each horse has special needs and traits at Equestrian Inc they are well tuned to the needs of these horses. It gives me joy to volunteer were they put the animals first. Please help donate it very expense keeping all these horses!!!!
Equestrian, Inc. is a wonderful horse rescue. I have been a visitor there many times and it is obvious how much they love the horses in their care. I also enjoy following Equestrian Inc. on Facebook to see pictures of the horses and learn about their interactions, personalities and antics!
I have never been to a horse farm before so it was quite an experience. Such beautiful animals. Very friendly volunteers and to see how much they care about the place is beyond amazing.
I have been a rider for over 24 years and I have helped manage a few barns off and on for the last 10 years before I move to the Tampa area. I absolutely love volunteering at Equestrian Inc. This stable is very organized, the horses are happy and well cared for. All the volunteers I have encounter are willing to go above and beyond to help with all needed tasks. I look forward to my weekly volunteer afternoon. I wish all barns could be as organized and drama free.
I adopted an OTTB from Equestrian, Inc. and he had lived there for quite a while. I found him and fell instantly in love with him. The rescue volunteers are very dedicated and the board members I dealt with are very loving and passionate about making sure that all the horses go to good homes. I think they went above and beyond with some issues my horse had after leaving the rescue, and I am surprised at how much they actually care about their placements long after they are gone down the road to their new homes. The facility was always neat and safe, the feed room filled with neatly stacked bags of feed and hay, and the horses were all healthy and happy.
I have been volunteering at Equestrian Inc for a little over two years. In those two years I have had the opportunity to learn so much about these wonderful animals and be a part of some incredible stories surrounding them. Equestrian Inc has always been a wonderful place and I hope it continues to be for a long time.
This organization holds a very special place in my heart. Many animals have had a second chance and a great life thanks to Equestrian Inc!
I have been a volunteer at Equestrian for over 2 years. Our horses are well cared for with regular visits from our Vet, farrier, and dentist. They have a beautiful pasture to graze and a spring-fed pond to swim. Our horses and cats are the most loved animals on this planet. We spoil them with lots of love and kisses and I hope I can continue for years to come. Blessed is the person that has earned the love of a horse.

Equestrian is close to my home and I volunteered. A great and compassionate organization of individuals who work tirelessly to help these beautiful animals who have been abused or abandoned. As a person who has rescued 2 dogs, I can tell you it is considerably different when the rescue is significantly bigger than you are. The folks at Equestrian take it in stride and I would hate to think of what would happen to these magnificent animals if they were not there.
Equestrian Inc. is not only a rescue for horses, it is one that rescues people and gives them a place to go to be able to love and care for horses who need it. I have been lucky to be able to get to know the horses and their vast personalities as well as get to know many of the dedicated people to the organization. The horses at this organization are thriving and if you see them it is clear that they are all happy.

I moved to the Tampa area for school. In choosing to move I chose to go alone. I knew with this move one of the most important things for me was to find a place to give back. My love of animals and horses found me at the front gate of Equestrian Inc.. From the moment I was introduced to every horse and told each one's story I wanted to be a part of this amazing organization. Being a volunteer at a rescue such as this is hard work but extremely rewarding. I am able to put work in knowing that every stall cleaned and water bucket filled is for a good purpose. It is allowing a horse in need a clean place to live and play. The hands on care that this organization allows and encourages with the horses is remarkable. Being able to touch and give love to these amazing animals is what its all about. I am grateful to all the wonderful people at Equestrian Inc. who allow me to come and help.
My mother started rescuing horses way before we became a nonprofit organization. It is because of her creation that these horses have a safe haven where they can graze, swim and eat until their heart is content. Our horses get the best care and are a joy to be around. Everyone who passes through our gate feels a sense of serenity and peacefulness as they interact with the horses. Again, it is all because of my mother that we are here what we are today.

I've been volunteering at Equestrian Inc for almost 3 years. I've found the people very welcoming and thankful to the volunteers who come to help out. I've learned so much about horses, helping animals and people from my experiences there. The horses are well taken care of and are really nice. I'd recommend this organization to anyone who wants to help animals and be out in nature.
The horses of Equestrian Inc. are always the number one priority of the rescue. They receive excellent diets along with any necessary supplements. They have regular visits from the farrier and dentist and have access to an excellent vet. Each horse is made to feel very special by the loving care that they are given every day. They have several acres of pasture in which to graze and just be horses. All in all they are very happy horses with very dedicated volunteers.
Thank goodness for Equestrian Inc!!!! I've had the pleasure of spending time at this wonderful place. I've always been impressed with the endless dedication, hard work & unconditional love that these Horses are given. These amazing animals deserve the 2nd chance that is given to them by these amazing people!!!!
The work and dedication to the rescue and rehoming of these horses is amazing. Every horse here has a story and deserved better than to be in a rescue situation. When I retired from the workforce I knew I would find something out there for me. What I found was a passion for me and a blessing to work with others to help these wonderful vreatures.
I have been affiliated with Equestrian Inc. for over 6 years. This is truly a safe haven for rescued horses and ponies. Each horse is given emotional, medical and rehabilitation care individually as needed. These animals wake up each morning to a loving hand with hay and grain. They have a lot of pasture time to roam, graze and play with their pasture buddies. There is also a spring fed lake for hot summer swims ( such a heartwarming sight). Regardless of the surmountable expenses the founder and her daughter, board members and volunteers work daily feeding, cleaning stalls, making sure there is fresh water, bathing and making sure all are happy and healthy. Equestrian Inc. is an asset to the Tampa Bay area and they have made a big difference not only in the animals lives; but to all of us who have had the opportunity to experience seeing and caring for an unwanted horse become unafraid of life, learn to play and love the carrot treats and lots of hugs. Thank you EI.

Equestrian Inc. is an asset to Tampa, FL. This non-profit horse rescue organization has a dedicated founder, trainers and volunteers that work very hard to make sure every rescue receives the proper care, training, medical needs, and rehabilition needs to give these beautiful animals a happy life without fear or mistrust. They start their day knowing they are going to be fed and let out to pasture to play with their friends. They have been given a routine, a purpose and a place where they receive lots of attention. At the end of the day, they welcome their roomy stalls and dinner.
Recently a new horse came in from up North that did not want to race, and his fate was not favorable. As a volunteer, to be able to see this horse brought in from a long journey and start enjoying his new life is such a wonderful feeling.
EI reaches out to as many horses as they can. This is a sanctuary in the middle of Tampa.
Come out and hug a horse - it will make you smile!
I have been volunteering for Equestrian Inc for a little over a year and it is an amazing rescue, truly dedicated to the health and welfare of the horses they take in. The owner of the rescue dedicates her life to these horses and it is evident when you see the transformation of injured and abused horses into loving, healthy and happy animals. After i spent a day volunteering I quickly made the decision to give as much time and resources as I could to this cause. if you have a passion for horses I would highly recommend going out to the barn and learning more about Equestrian Inc.
This organization is wonderful. I have been associated with them for almost 2 years. Horses get really good care. The overall energy is relaxed and fun. It's obvious the horses enjoy themselves there and they are well loved.

So in response to Missyn's comment, with all due respect, what did you do as a volunteer, did you venture to make the initiative to fund raise or other aspects to benefit the organization? I have volunteered at other horse rescues in Florida and they are not the vast green acres of Kentucky. Equestrian Inc is respectably recognized for what they have successfully done for 29 years. Some volunteers have no idea what it takes, tireless hours, and serious dedication to run a non profit. It's not just showing up, playing with and riding horses. Do horses die at horse sanctuaries beyond every effort to rehab them, absolutely. It's life. Equestrian Inc is successful, welcoming and very loving toward their well cared for horses.
I am not a hands on volunteer @ Equestrian Inc., as I am afraid of horses, however I have been going to the facility for approximately 4 years with my husband who is a volunteer. I have never been around anyone who is more dedicated to horses welfare as the people who run this equine rescue. The horses are cared for with nothing more than hard work, sweat and LOVE. You will never see any horse at this facility go without proper medical attention, food or anything else that is required in their daily needs. As with any animal or human as well, all the horse want is to be loved and cared for and that is exactly what they get. I do volunteer my time helping organize and put on the annual golf tournament to raise much need money for the care and upkeep of this most needed horse rescue facility.
After 4 years of continuous volunteering at this facility, I continue to see full cooperation and friendship with all board members as well as with volunteers. Horse always seem to be content and happy and with steady service from our veterinarians and blacksmiths and most of all they are HAPPY HAPPY HORSES. The organization is constantly seeking donations and any and all assistance from the community.
i went to Equestrian horse rescue not knowing what to expect because when you here rescue not always sure what kind of condition the animals are in but i was very pleased to find out that all the horses here are in beautiful condition. very well cared for they get to have the run of the land palying in the spring and in the woods running through pastures plus the people are friendly very helpful i learned alot on my 1st visit and i have been back twice to help during the weekend. the rescue is doing a great job saving america's race horses and some owner surrenders.
Equestrian Inc. is a great place we visited the rescue and did orientation witch the rescue strongly advises new comers to do. it was very helpful to learn what to do and not to do for someone that does not know much about horses. we will visit again and help muck stalls and help out with the horses the people are nice. the horses are in wonderful condition. the are spoiled just like a rescue should be. very pleased with how the rescue works they are doing a awesome job with the horses they are able to save each year.
Not only is this amazing rescue like a second home to me, it is an amazing second chance for the amazing animals in their care. This horse rescue does an amazing job at caring for their animals and is a great way to spend your time and learn more about the animal, I will always highly recommend this rescue
my wife and young son were able to make a trip out to see the horses recently and had such a great time walking the property seeing the horses play and run around like in the wild was amazing. my son was so excited he keeps asking when are we going to see the horses again. Equestrian INC. staff was great too they truly are a grass roots horse rescue that relays on volunteers and donations alone to rescue and rehab and rehome the horses. all the horses are in such good shape and look happy and healthy so taking my son was great. we learned how to groom a horse and clean stalls even watched them some of the volunteers ride around and work a horse in the pasture. this rescue is doing a wonderful job at rescueing OTTB a term we learned at the rescue. great experience for our family.
my girlfriend and I stopped by Equestrian INC. a month ago and meet with a volunteer to give us a tour and what wonderful people and horses we met that day. truly a sanctuary for the horses. we learned a lot about OTTB and how young some of them come in with injuries but here the horses end up getting what they need to rehab and heal to become great partners to the ones that have the opportunity to adopt them. awesome horse rescue in tampa, fl. we will visit them again and bring apple and carrots for the horses and love to lend a hand when we get the chance
i visited Equestrian Inc. last summer for the 1st time and was blown away at how all the horses were so well taken care of and they all look beautiful. they are happy and get to run around the pastures in herds having the time of their lives. as OTTB we all know that being at the track the horse rarely get time out of the stalls other than to be worked or trained or light walk so to see the horse being able to be a horse and run freely through the pasture with a herd is a amazing thing to see and at Equestrian inc that is what a non injured horse gets to do after rehab and rest from injuries from racing. Glenda smith and DeeAnn smith and the wonderful team they have put together to help rescue america's thoroughbred horses are doing a wonderful job rescueing, rehabilitating, rehoming the horses and plus they are also a grass roots rescue that is all donation and volunteer based no salaries to pay all proceeds go to the horses care, vet bills, hay, feed or anything that the horse farm needs to operate.
Fantastic non profit organization with good hearted folks. Had a chance to visit and volunteer and look forward to do so again. Wonderful and full of diverse resucues with an array of personalities. All the horses and helpers make for a great
experience at Equestrian Inc. I donated five hours of my time filling water buckets and assisting with the horse rescue duties. The vp Adam was very professional in helping me understand what was necessary to help the Rescue run properly. All in all it was a great day and recommend others to volunteer.
I cannot say enough positive things about this organization and all the amazing people that make it what it is. Always a great day at the barn!
The staff and volunteers are amazing at Equestrian Inc.
Their dedication to saving horses goes above and beyond. It's a pleasure to help- my teens enjoy volunteering at this beautiful sanctuary!
Equestrian, Inc. is one of the best equine non-profits in the Tampa Bay area. They truly care for their horses and put them above everything else. You won't find a better set of volunteers willing to go the extra mile. I would highly recommend donating to this wonderful organization.
I have been a donor for several years as this Organization demonstrates a true devotion to animal rescue. The hard working Volunteers give it all so unselfishly. Equestrian Inc. Is truly a cause I believe in.
Year after year Equestrian Inc. continues to be a wonderful haven for horses. You would be hard pressed to find a place anywhere where the horses are better cared for, more loved, safe, and above all HAPPY! Support Equestrian Inc.! You will be happy with the fact that you did!

I have been with Glenda, and Equestrian Inc. for many years. I've also been to many other facilities, everything from boarding barns, to lesson barns, to show facilities, etc., and I can say that one would be very hard-pressed to find a facility with happier, healthier horses. Year after year we continue to build the facility, build relationships with vendors, and volunteers, we have had many extremely successful, happy adoptions, and I'm completely confident that the best is yet to come, all thanks to the tenacity, and tireless efforts of our president, Glenda, myself, and the rest of the board members. We are always working on projects to make our organization the best that we possibly can. I'm proud to be a part of Equestrian Inc.!
Equestrian Inc is a non-profit organization that has tons of heart! The horses blossom at this wonderful farm with lots of land and the opportunity to "be a horse". I learn so much every time I volunteer and get the chance to spend time with these majestic animals.
Running any sort of animal rescue is not an easy thing. Glenda and her volunteers give their lives to these animals. They are warm and welcoming and are truly appreciative of the help they receive. Caring for malnourished/abused/unwanted critters is labor intensive and $$$$$$$! Kudos to this place!
My family has volunteered at the rescue a few times. We enjoy being able to help out the organization. They do so much good helping out the horses but can always use an extra pair of hands or an extra donation to help them do more for the horses.
I have Volunteered with Equestrian Inc. for 3.5 years. So many animals have been saved by this wonderful rescue. All of the animals are so happy and are thriving.
I have been volunteering at Equestrian Inc for four years. I also sponsor two horses at the rescue. This is an amazing place with dedicated and hard working volunteers. They are always in need of and truly appreciate any help. I started helping with almost no experience with horses. I learn something new every time I visit. I would highly recommend this non-profit.

This is a wonderful organization with very hard working and dedicated volunteers and board members. The horses are very well taken care of and loved by all who come to the rescue. I learn something new every time I am there. It is located on a beautiful property with a spring fed pond and stream. Not only will you see horses but many adorable and loving barn cats. A great horned owl and rosy spoonbill can often be spotted and if your lucky a bald eagle.
As a horse lover, I can honestly say from an objective point of view that Equestrian Inc is very passionate about welfare of each and every horse under their care. First hand, I have seen how well cared for the horses are. Glenda is highly knowledgeable and years of respectable experience with horses. A tremendous resource. Many others involved provide a solid support system to keep this nonprofit running. This sanctuary is a peaceful environment and really a fun place to be. I had the privilege of adopting a wonderful horse from this organization.
I have volunteered at Equestrian Inc. for over 4 years and they go above and beyond for each and every horse. Every horse is so very important. Equestrian Inc. has been accredited by the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance or TCA. They set very high standards for their accreditation process and to be recognized by TCA is a high honor. There are only 42 rescues that have received this accreditation out of hundreds and hundreds of rescues in the United States. The farm is located on a beautiful property with many trees, 3 barns, over 15 acres for the horses to roam about and a large spring fed pond that the horses love to swim in on hot summer days. This is a place where horses come to be safe and loved. Many of the horses are retired racehorses and they go on to wonderful second careers as trail horses, jumpers or event horses.

I was looking for something to keep me busy when I found Equestrian Inc. I had spent my childhood with horses but grew away from them as I got older. Equestrian Inc. filled the need to keep busy and brought me back to my love of horses. I cannot say enough good about Equestrian Inc. We have received horses some of which are broken in spirit and in body, but with love, attention, respect and lots of good food these horses blossom into the wonderful animals that they were meant to be. This organization is truly dedicated to helping those horses that are in need. I recommend it highly.
St. Petersburg College students volunteer at this facility and absolutely enjoy the hospitality of Glenda and friends. It is kind of sad that a disgruntled former volunteer, whose horses basically boarded for free, felt that this is a forum to air her discontent because the non-profit could no longer afford to feed and hay her horses. When she was asked to fulfill her obligation to "volunteer" in exchange for board, she became disgruntled and left. Of course, there is a lot of sand, it is called Florida, but there is a wonderful swimming hole that the horses love. Also, faithful donations keep the horses stocked with wonderful hay to munch on. Of course donations pay for medicine, vet bills, hay and feed, but it is the volunteers that come out to clean stalls, fix fences, lunge the horses, and brush and groom them, who provide a valuable service.
Hazards everywhere where horses roam. Too much sand, not enough grazing area. Multiple horse deaths from colic. What is going on there???
I have always had horses growing up and wished my daughter had the same opportunity to get close and find out how much love horses have to give. My husband was diagnosed with Cancer last year and my daughter of course was having a difficult time ( she is just 12). I read about the rescue in the paper and we went one Saturday afternoon it was amazing. Miss Glenda and Dee Ann were so sweet and let us feed the horses apples and even took my daughter for a ride. I would go there every day if I could.. I look forward to seeing the horses sweet faces posted on Facebook every day. God Bless them all.

A love of horses is not enough to call yourself a rescue. Hard work, training, patience and caring are the hallmarks of a true charity. These qualities are missing at equestrianinc. I volunteered several days a week for a year and saw neglect, dangerous conditions, the death of several horses, sporadic training and vet care. I also saw many volunteers that made the heart wrenching decision to leave this organization and the animals they grew to love because they could no longer be a party to Glenda Smith's careless approach to rehabilitation, myself included. No marketing plan, no fund raising skills, no training and conditioning schedule, no structure. Your time and money are better spent with a charity that earns your support, not one that simply exists in name alone.
I discovered Equestrian, Inc. one night while watching the news. A horse had been nearly starved to death (Half of it's body weight) and Equestrian, Inc. managed to get the horse away from it's cruel owner & start the long road of saving the horse's life. Glenda Smith and her daughter, DeAnn and the countless volunteers spent 24 hours a day 7 days a week caring for this sweet horse "Jolie". I fell in love with Jolie and the other horses and spent every spare minute from my business going to the farm. Sadly the horse didn't make it, but her last few weeks were spent being fed & loved like no other. There were about 35 other horses there at the time. I had never been around horses but I am an animal rights activist & was so impressed with the work they do at EI to rehabilitate all their horses. I don't know how they do it...but they do it every day...365 days a year. Horses require a lot more "food" than dogs & cats. The love these horses get is paramount. I can't say enough about this wonderful organization. They melted my heart!.
I love going and seeing the amazing cratures that have been rescued by this beautiful orginizations. They even let me do my senior pics at the stable just so I could be where I love. Lauren is so sweet and her little baby Eva is so lucky to get to grow up under such a great influence and around such amazing creatures. Thank you Equestrian Inc. I love you guys.
I love this place! The folks running it dedicate their entire lives to the care of those critters. I have volunteered there several times and always enjoy my time. There is always a lot of work that needs to be done and they can use all of the help they can get. My daughter has taken some riding lessons there as well and really enjoyed herself. This is a truly wonderful horse rescue.
One amazing place ! They truly care for each a every horse that is in their care they fight for the humane care of all horses by others. They also care deeply for their volunteers.
A little over three years ago I was looking for a place for myself and my very shy 9 year old to volunteer at. I noticed an article in the local paper about EI needing volunteers for their abused, abandoned and other horses. We went right over. The first one to greet us with this amazingly big smile was Glenda Smith, owner. Glenda is the epitome of charity. We were welcomed and shown around and introduced to the many wonderful horses and animals at EI. We felt so welcomed that we continue to go out there all these years on a regular basis. Not only has my daughter grown and learned to care and ride for these beautiful horses, she has grown to a very outgoing, confident young lady. This could only happen when you find a place that is so knowledgeable and passionate about what they are rescuing. We were enveloped into this very warm, caring, loving family of volunteers, no experience necessary. Equestrian Inc. is one of those special places that will be in our hearts for many more years to come.
My 12 year old daughter has been involved with the farm for 3 years. She has learned to ride and take care of horses, something that we would never have been able to afford anywhere else.
Linda is a saint. There is no other way to describe a person who has devoted her whole life to the care of abused animals, asking nothing in return. She is the Mother Teresa for horses.
The farm itself is well managed and is a social and educational asset to the surrounding community.
If you haven't yet been there and experienced the farm and its wonderful volunteers, then get there, as you are missing out on an experience that is real and unique.

I volunteered at Equestrian Inc for a while and have owned horses for many years. Having moved here from Minnesota and being involved with many horse non profits, I have seen many non profits for horses. Equestrian Inc is among the best. The love and care I have seen and experienced there on a consistent basis is what makes their facility stand out. From community involvement, education to the public and of course, the great care given to the horses and other animals is what makes Equestrian Inc a five star facility!
I was introduced to Glenda Smith and Equestrian Inc. in 2009 and she has never ceased to amaze me with her knowledge about and passion for horses. Equestrian Inc. also has a team of talented volunteers who have dedicated great portions of their lives to the organization and the horses it rescues. Due to the efforts of the entire team, lives have not only been saved, but horses are able to grow, become healthy and extremely happy. If you are looking to volunteer, donate or adopt, I highly recommend Equestrian Inc.
I was looking for riding lessons when I found Equestrian Inc and while checking out the horses on their web site I found Bella, a most beautiful mare who had been abused and abandoned. I have been working with her for over 6 months and the love and trust that she gives me has been very humbling. Loving a horse is great-having one love you back is beyond description for me.

I am almost into my third year as a volunteer at Equestrian Inc. and I was also there when an ex-racer was brought in from a track up north. He was supposed to come to Equestrian Inc about a month ago but there was a change in his plans and he was sent to another trainer to race. Glenda, the founder, with the help of some volunteers, kept track of this poor guy and when the trainer realized he would be better suited in retirement, he contacted Glenda and Equestrian Inc is now his home. He makes the fifth (5) ex-racehorse to come to Equestrian Inc this year, which is 100% better than where they could have ended up. Come and check out the farm and all the horses that call it home. There is always work to be done but it is also relaxing and enriching too.
Each day I go to Equestrian Inc. Horse Rescue to volunteer brings new and wonderful experiences. The horses are so well taken care of and their well-being is a top priority. The horses have large paddocks in which to graze. The property also has an acre pond for swimming and cooling off. These horses live the good life!

I’ve been volunteering at Equestrian Inc. Horse Rescue since October 2009. I have very high standards when it comes to the care of all animals and can say with total certainty that the horses and other animals at Equestrian Inc. receive the very best of care. Glenda, the founder of the organization, has been rescuing horses for over 25 years and is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to her horses. She has their best interests at heart with every decision she makes for their welfare. Glenda is well known and respected in the horse rescue field and has made many friends who help her network with other organizations. Having been the board treasurer for the last two years, I can highly recommend Equestrian Inc.’s ability to put all donations towards sustaining the rescue and caring for the horses.
Review from Guidestar
Equestrian Inc. Horse Rescue not only changes the lives of the horses who come to us, but also the people. Equestrian Inc. takes in all horses, of all breeds at any age. They strive to get them rehabilitated and retrained to adopt out to a loving family. However, some horses, because of their past abuse or injuries will never be able to go onto a new family. But the wonderful thing about Equestrian Inc. is that they provide a heaven sanctuary retirement for these horses to live out the rest of their days in serenity. One of the most important roles of being a volunteer is loving on these horses and when you see the love you give to them start to change these horses for the better it is so rewarding and life changing! There is nothing 'fancy' about our property and our amenities, but it is filled with love! If you are interested in volunteering we urge you to come on out to the farm. There is always plenty of work to be done and plenty of new friends (horses and people) to make!
Equestrian Inc. is by far the best organization I've had the pleasure of volunteering for, especially in terms of the level of care and concern that is shown for the horses. Everyone who volunteers for this rescue genuinely cares about each horse. Glenda Smith, founder and president of the rescue, works endlessly to ensure that the horses receive the best care possible. Each horse has a different story and is given the proper medical attention, food, training, care and lots of love in the hopes of finding the right forever home. Most of the horses arrive in deplorable condition and over time turn into the lovely, gentle animals you can see on Equestrian Inc.’s website. When I leave the barn, I am exhausted, dirty and smell like horse, but you know what? I feel good inside and I know that I made a difference in the lives of whichever horses I worked with that day.
I and my 10yr old daughter have been volunteering at Equestrian Inc since June of 2011. My daughter takes riding lessons and has learned how to care for a horse from the ground up, literally. I have furthered my equine knowledge by having hands on instead of just reading about them in books. I have always loved horses and of course, always wanted one of my own. Never having the resources or property for one, this gives me that opportunity. And it's not only one horse but approximately 30-35, at any given time, between their transitioning period. Some are lifelong residents but more are rescued, rehabilitated if needed and re-homed for pleasure or a second career. And all have been saved from going to slaughter which is the easy way out for a lot of owners, whether they are everyday people or professionals, such as owners and trainers of racehorses and show horses. Equestrian Inc provides a safe, stable and nurturing atmosphere for equines and humans alike. You may think a horse rescue saves just the horses but until you've been around them, you realize that the horses rescue you. So my daughter and I now have "our" horse, we sponsor a retired Thoroughbred at Equestrian Inc.
