This organization is amazing! I make a living braiding hunters, traveling to horse shows. Two years ago, I was trampled by a spooked horse, and broke my right (dominant) arm. When it became apparent that my healing was to be a long and winding road, Equine Assistance was kind enough to listen to my woes, and ama ing enough to grant me enough to live on for months after my savings and GoFundMe were exhausted. I don’t know how I would have muddled through without them! I’m fortunate enough to have medical insurance, but without an organization like this one, someone self-employed like me could easily fall through the cracks in the economic support system! I’m so glad Equestrian Aid was recommended to me, and I can’t recommend them enough, especially for donors! You can definitely feel like your donated dollars are going just where you’d like them to! And the people at Equestrian Aid could not have been nicer, or easier to talk to!! Thank you, Equestrian Aid!!
I have been involved with the EAF for over 12 years. The work they do to help fellow horse people in need it’s truly remarkable. As a board member of EAF it’s an honor to be associated with such a wonderful and important Foundation. Their support and help throughout the equestrian community is far reaching and extremely valuable.
We are so thankful for the Equestrian Aid Foundation. Our family had the unthinkable happen when my husband fell from a hunting tree stand 22 feet in the air. His fall left him with a C7 spinal cord injury and turned our world upside down. I was 5 months pregnant with twins at the time of his accident. After a 6 month stay in the hospital, he came home with multiple needs we didn’t know how to meet.
My husband was a farrier by trade and our main provider in the home. We heard about this foundation through a friend so I immediately reached out for any help we could get to meet our needs.
We could not be blessed more by this foundation. Because of their generosity, we were able to meet some of our needs at the moment and give us a little piece of mind that our new “normal” was achievable. We could not be more thankful.
I was a full time farrier, when last year I was diagnosed with cancer. I tired my best to keep working throughout treatments, but was forced to stop during IV Chemo. I have been denied disability multiple times and was struggling to pay bills when I reached out to EAF. They were so nice and helpful.
The EAF Resource Guide provides information and instruction for those experiencing health related challenges in a pdf available online. This comprehensive workbook goes beyond monetary grants by helping clients advocate for their own needs.
I became disabled 6 years ago due to a horse accident and have difficulty getting the medical care I need due to the impossibility of working to pay for the physical therapy sessions all the time. Equestrian Aid stepped in and helped me get several specialized physical therapy sessions and it made me much stronger and less painful! I am SOO grateful, thank you for what you do!
The Equestrian Aid Foundation is an amazing organization! Getting to see first hand how this organization helps equestrians in need is amazing. Everything the EAF does from fundraising, hosting events, and collecting donations they have helped so many! I could go on and on about how much I love this organization!
EAF does a lot of work behind the scenes for the good of our equestrian industry. I’m proud to support EAF because I’ve seen firsthand how their support helps people through a time of crisis.
I was a founding member of EAF in 1996 and still serve on its board today. For nearly three decades, EAF has provided quiet and compassionate support to those in our community who are facing crisis—from coast to coast and across the equestrian disciplines and professions. I am so proud of our dedicated staff and board and the commitment they show to our mission.
The Equestrian Aid Foundation is such an upstanding organization. Society is inundated with requests for donations. It is so hard to know where your money goes. At EAF , the charity starts at home and helps at home. EAF links our community together by allowing our industry to take care of our own. I know people (friends, associates, & customers) that have been given assistance through EAF grants, and it has literally been life changing for them. I want to help, but don't always know what to do. As a small business owner that is able to donate for various EAF events, I feel more than comfortable knowing that my assistance, however small, is being used in the best way possible to aid our equestrian community. As an equestrian, I feel comfortable knowing that if I ever were ever in a dire situation, the Equestrian Aid Foundation would be rallying assistance in my corner.
Cancer hit me for the 2nd time and being a single mom it hit me hard. I did not work/make money for 5 months so my funding from EAF was a godsend, it enabled me to rest and get well and not worry about how ends would meet. I’m very grateful for all the help I got from the foundation without it would have been a stressful struggle, so I’m thankful.
I have volunteered a few times for EAF's Ride For Hope 5k and had an amazing, fun experience. I am thankful for the opportunity to support this non-profit making an positive impact within the equine community. Great staff, very responsive, and hard-working to fulfill their mission of supporting equestrians who have suffered from catastrophic injury/illness.
Equestrian Aid Foundation, saved my business and my sanity during an extremely difficult and scary time. They were fast with financial relief and kind. The equine community is small, and it's amazing to know there are groups of people, like the Equestrian Aid Foundation, who support and look out for us equestrians!! I can't thank them enough for their care and generosity.
My son and I have been proud volunteers of EAF for several years now. This is a wonderful charity which provides financial relief for our equestrian industry. EAF carefully chooses the grants for those who may not have the resources to receive help. Not only does EAF provide comfort and relief but this team of people function as a family and provides a compassionate connection with each of the grant recipients. In our industry, if a horseman or horsewoman gets hurt , they loose their ability to work and earn an income. EAF is a safe place to turn with a group of people who truly understand the equestrian community and the hardships that can occur. We will continue to choose EAF as our charity to support.
I'm proud to be a Board member of the Equestrian Aid Foundation. The Foundation helps equestrians' of all types during dark times, and does so with respect and compassion. From wildfires to floods to personal injury and sickness we are here to help.
EAF came through with significant support at a time that I needed it most. I'm a self-employed dressage trainer with a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. For me, a cancer diagnosis has been a ticket to a multi-year rollercoaster of treatments and therapies, with the occasional reprieve from all of it. EAF helped me close the gap between what my health insurance covered and the monstrous reality of my medical bills. I'm incredibly grateful for the hard work done at EAF to support those in our industry that need financial support during an unforeseen time.
The Equestrian Aid Foundation helps horse people push forward when the odds are against them. They have helped a lot of people get back on their feet.
I have been volunteering with Equestrian Aid Foundation for over 5 years. This organization's staff and board members truly care about their mission. They are incredibly responsive and adaptive to the needs of the equestrian community. Keep up the great work!

I have been supporting the Equestrian Aid Foundation for over 20 years and know the impact this group has on the equestrian community. From disaster relief, to injuries, illness's and the pandemic they are always happy to help those in need. Since they are a volunteer based organization the funding goes directly to the recipients which is another great quality for a non-profit.
I own Capriole School of Riding and have for 25 years. I am a female, minority biomechanics instructor, horse trainer, clinician and coach. I have a BS Degree in Equine Management, BHSI certification and IGEQ Level III Master Instructor Certification. My entire life and education has held the sole purpose of becoming a better educator in the horse industry. This is my passion, my identity and my life.
Suddenly, I was unable to walk, talk, swallow and see clearly...amongst other things. After 1 year and 8 doctors I was finally diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis and Dysautonomia.
EAF helped me hold on to my business while seeking treatments to make me functional again. If it wasn't for them I would have had to sell my business and horses. Thank you is an understatement. My life was so close to being swept away and EAF saved me.
Last year while feeding horses, the unexpected happened. I was hit from behind by a horse running from its stall to the pasture. The horse hit me with such force that I was tossed into the pasture and hit the ground face down. I laid there stunned and when I came to, I realized that where my right knee had been was now pushed up to the middle of my thigh!
Nobody was at the barn and I didn't have my cell phone to call for help. I was in excruciating pain, but I managed to drag myself back through the stall and barn to the small trailer I was living in at the time. The crawl was no small feat...I had to crawl about 300 feet to my trailer to call 911 for help. I called 911 and was taken by ambulance to the hospital where I had emergency surgery on my knee.
The impact of this injury on my life was far reaching. It put me out of work and left me disabled as I couldn't walk for several months. As a result, I was out of work, lost my place to live, and had to return to my family in another state for their support. I was so depressed and (at 57 years old) didn't know what I was going to do to recover my life.
The pain of all that I had lost, including having to surrender 2 of my mini donkeys to a sanctuary, was large. But with help, I felt hope.
I contacted EAF and told them my story through tears. They were compassionate, understanding and so willing to help me. They gave me a grant that I put towards living expenses, past bills that had piled up, and just towards day to day survival. I am so grateful for their help!
In cases like mine, barn owners are exempt (by law) from any responsibility associated with injuries from horses boarded at their barns. Foundations such as EAF are critical in helping horse folks get "back on their feet" after a debilitating injury.
Fast forward and I can now walk again, moved back to the state where this all had happened, and I have a super fulfilling life! I no longer work at that barn and a lot has changed for me. But along the way, there are good people and organizations such as EAF with missions to help others.
Thank you EAF for helping me!
After years of riding, teaching, and competing that world got ripped away. I floundered while scrambling to secure the shoals of my family's life as a tempest descended, promising to carry us away. I was told of the Equestrian Aid Foundation, and upon that initial contact I sighed deeply.
Every conversation was informed with compassion, grace, understanding and patience. Being seen and held was a gift in itself, and then the impact of the financial largess was profound. Knowing, for a time, we can regroup; learn the skills needed to take this journey.
The gratitude that is felt will take multiple lifetimes to repay.
Halt at X. Salute.
EAF completely changed my life at a time that I was injured, scared & unsure of what the future held. They were incredibly wonderful and warm to work with and provided me with a grant that gave me the ability to focus on healing from my injuries when I was extremely worried about it changes to our financial situation while I couldn’t work. Thank you so much EAF for your ongoing support and love! If you are considering giving to this organization please do. Even a little goes a long way to someone in need!
