Mission: Equality California brings the voices of LGBTQ+ people and allies to institutions of power in California and across the United States, striving to create a world that is healthy, just, and fully equal for all LGBTQ+ people. We advance civil rights and social justice by inspiring, advocating, and mobilizing through an inclusive movement that works tirelessly on behalf of those we serve.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Sponsored five pieces of legislation signed into law. Read our 2020 annual report at https://issuu.com/equalitycalifornia/docs/eqca21_annualreport2020_10_singles?fr=sOTNmNTcxMDI4Nw

Programs: legislative advocacy and civic engagement
I was able to attend a Leadership Conference offered by Equality California, where profound leaders of the LGBTQIA+ community came to share their stories and offer advice for others looking to make a difference within and without the community. The presence of LGBTQIA+ panelists, moderators, and staff demonstrates Equality California's dedication to the community through its internal processes as much as its advocacy work.
Equality california is young and has potential. I think they have yet to realize that everyone is equal. LGBTQ youth are certainly worth fighting for...but when your disabled employees don't get support, it doesn't seem very equal anymore. The name is misleading. It should be more like...LGBTQ youth california. "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others."
