I am currently the board secretary of this after school program for developmentally disabled students ages 6 to 21. We meet at the Madison Area YMCA 3 days a week for socialization with typical volunteer students from participating high schools in our area. Both groups are enriched by our program. In our 37 year history we have brought forth an awareness of people with special needs and fostered kindness and a helpful attitude in others. Our disabled participants have gained life skills and friendships that endure. My 10 years of working with this community based program have been very meaningful and fulfilling. I am looking forward to the future of this organization.
