Our son was diagnosed with a seizure disorder when he was 8; he is now 14. We learned about Camp Neuron while looking for a support group or similar group to help him understand there are other kids like him who suffer from seizures. Until he had the opportunity to attend Camp Neuron this summer, he had never really been around other children with the same medical concerns. He had a great time at camp and realized he's not alone. Normally, it's like pulling teeth to get him to tell us about his day, but he talked non-stop about camp and the fun he had during the week. We're so grateful for the volunteers, staff, and everyone who made it such a fun and safe environment.
My daughter attended camp this past week and was so well taken care of and happy! She seems so much more confident since she came home and can't wait to go back next year! These are experiences most camps wouldn't allow her to have simply because they don't want to take on the challenge of dealing with medical conditions. It was so much more than just camp, for her to feel "normal" and to fit it with all the other children with her similar medical concerns, it did so much for her self esteem and brought her out of her little bubble! I am so thankful for the experience she got to have this week. Memories she will never forget!
