Programs are developed for our nationwide network of local epilepsy foundations and chapters. Services are also provided digitally. Programs are funded through national partnerships with government agencies, corporate sponsors, foundation grants and private donations. The foundation is committed to serving an increasing diverse community by building programs and initiatives focusing on ethnic and other cultural outreach. The foundation actively engages in legislative advocacy to improve access to medications, health care, employment and civil rights.
public health education and awareness - we educate through engagement with traditional media sources, partnerships with professional organizations, and through our direct mail program which serves the dual purpose of raising funds for the organization and increasing awareness of our cause. As a result, in accordance with the financial accounting standards board (fasb) guidelines, we allocate a portion of our direct mail costs to program services. Education is also disseminated through our network of local epilepsy foundations around the country. We provide educational support for individuals and families to help make sure they can manage and control their seizures to the best of their ability. Special initiatives help individuals and caregivers improve their overall health and raise awareness about the risk of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (sudep). In addition, we educate the general public to help improve understanding of epilepsy, seizure recognition, and first aid. Epilepsy. Com is the largest online education and community portal in the world for epilepsy education and awareness, with over 19 million global visitors a year.
