through our student exchange program, 12 university engineering students and an engineering professor spent a month in nicaragua working on developing prototypes for four different technologies, each with the goal of improving the quality of life for families in nicaragua. The technologies included a brick maker, biochar reactor, soil test kit, and rick hull cook stove. Not only do these designs stand to benefit the people of nicaragua, this experience is beneficial for the american university students as well.
