Causes: Environment, Natural Resources Conservation & Protection
Mission: To engage in research, policy development, analysis, public education, citizen outreach and organizing, litigation, and advocacy to protect the environment and people of the united states of america, including, but not limited to, the quality of america's air, water and land.
Programs: Global warming solutions:world leaders agreed to reduce carbon emissions under the paris agreement, and the clean power plan gave our country the leverage needed to win this historic deal. Months later, however, the supreme court delivered a major blow to climate action, announcing it will put the clean power plan on hold while it hears lawsuits from polluters and their allies who want to kill the plan. With your help, environment america is building public support to show our leaders that the clean power plan is essential to reducing our carbon emissions, protecting children growing up today, and showing the rest of the world that we are serious about tackling this growing threat.
clean water for america:we were all shocked to learn about the contamination of drinking water in flint, mich. Unfortunately, clean water is threatened in communities across the country. One of the biggest threats to clean water in the united states is pollution from massive factory farms. Environment america is working to defend the clean water rule and call out agribusiness pollution so we can ensure all americans have safe water to drink.
100% renewable energy:to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, we must avoid burning a majority of the world's fossil fuel reserves and instead transition to 100 percent renewable energy. It's time to sweep past the big energy interests-from big oil and gas companies like exxonmobil and chevron to utilities like duke energy and pacific gas & electric, from climate deniers in congress to the koch brothers- that are not only standing in the way, but using their financial might and political clout to roll back renewable energy's progress. That's where you, our members and supporters, come in. The more people who join our call for 100 percent renewable power, the more local, state, national and corporate leaders will step up and take action.
the remaining program service costs relate to grants given to other organizations and expenses incurred in support of national and state efforts to protect the environment.
