The ESLC provides a wonderful volunteer opportunity that allows members of the community to directly teach and engage with the local refugee community. They provide excellent volunteer ESL training so that volunteers feel ready and equipped with the necessary resources to teach ESL to adults in the community. I valued my time teaching ESL to a Somali refugee student on a weekly basis. and it proved to be a very enriching and rewarding experience for both of us. I would recommend the ESLC to anyone interested in teaching ESL and becoming more involved with the refugee community here in SLC.

Mission: Training & supervising volunteers who teach english as a second language to adult immigrants & refugees in salt lake county.
Programs: In fy 2016-2017 the eslc trained 178 volunteer tutors to teach english as a second language to over 1,200 adult immigrants and refugees. Volunteers typically teach for 2-4 hours a week.
