Mission: To foster the study of energy, mineral and natural resources law through quality, cost-effective and timely education; law student scholarships; and a continuing forum for the intellectually honest examination of the law.
Programs: The organization provides educational programming on the legal issues related to natural resources and energy law. The organization's programs qualify for mandatory continuing legal education (mcle) in approximately 25 states, enabling attorneys to maintain their license to practice law while studying in their practice area. During the fiscal year, the organization provided five (5) educational programs attended by approximately 1,500 individuals. The programs provide practitioners the opportunity to gain knowledge on current issues, review general industry laws and regulations, and network with fellow industry professionals.
the organization fosters the study of energy and mineral law by providing scholarship awards to law students, providing registration fee waivers to law students, and providing energy careers programs at law schools through volunteer member speakers who describe their particular energy law practice and answer student questions.
the organization publishes the energy & mineral law institute, a bound volume containing scholarly articles written by speakers at the annual institute. Articles from this publication are made available on the organization's website from 1992 forward. Members received a free subscription to the publication, valued at $90 per year.
