I had the pleasure of interning with End Hunger CT! during the summer of 2017. During my time with EHC! I came to understand how far their reach expands, and how many people they help on a daily basis. EHC! helps those access food during the summer by canvassing neighborhoods and hosting events in order to spread awareness and participation in federal summer meal programs. During the school year, End Hunger does everything possible to expand meal programs within school systems, especially Breakfast and School Lunch programs. They even go one step further with the SNAP call center, through which people can receive help with SNAP applications, or any other issues they may be having receiving their benefits. EHC! helps meet people where they are at, and provides a vast variety of resources to ensure that everyone has access to food. Though small in numbers, End Hunger reaches people in every town across CT. You’ll never find more motivated and passionate individuals than staff members with End Hunger CT!.

I spent the Summer of 2017 interning at EHC!. Throughout my summer, I was constantly inspired by the passion and commitment of those working in the organization to increase awareness and accessibility of SNAP enrollment, to generate nutritious food programming and access (both in communities and in schools), and to advocate on behalf of the children and families of Connecticut. During my time with the organization, I was able to see how integral EHC! is to communities; EHC! goes above and beyond in supporting the many partners in the anti-hunger movement across Connecticut-- with Shannon Yearwood and others facilitating partnerships and change through small meetings with local leaders all the way to large anti-hunger conferences in coordination with CT Food Bank and FoodShare. EHC!'s adept relationship-building has allowed the organization to fight for community needs on a legislative and political stage in a way that bolsters the voices of children and families experiencing hunger throughout Connecticut. I feel extremely privileged to have had the opportunity to work with this organization.

End Hunger CT has always put the client first at every level. There is no issue to big or to small for them to tackle on behalf of the residents of CT. They advocate for every person - even those not in need at this time. There is no down time for them, it appears as if the staff is readily available whenever they are called upon. They are true advocates in the fight against hunger - not just in CT but nationwide!

I can't emphasize enough how essential End Hunger Connecticut! is in our state. As the only anti-hunger organization in Connecticut, it is absolutely essential for the health and well being of our communities and the folks that live here. From support with SNAP applications, to spreading the word about free summer meals for kids, to supporting school districts in increasing breakfast participation to so much more, EHC! is invaluable. As someone who is lucky enough to work within the world of school food, and therefore call EHC! a partner, I have seen first hand how dedicated the folks who work here are- they truly are tireless advocates for our most vulnerable populations, and I am so grateful!

End Hunger Connecticut! is such an amazing organization! Working on the front lines, takes grit, determination and sheer will and EHC! as an organization embodies those very characteristics. Having a direct and immediate impact is the goal for non-profits and EHC! on most days exceeds that expectation!

I have been to several events coordinated by the Director and Staff of End Hunger CT. Each have been professional, fun, and brought the community together for a great cause. They are on the ground every day working to feed our children so that they can become strong, educated, and influential members of the community.

We have been working with End Hunger for a few years now and it has been wonderful. Shannon Yearwood continues to go above and beyond and is the utmost professional. We have done multiple events with them and she always helps - even bringing in staff to help! We look forward to working with the End Hunger Organization, and specifically Shannon Yearwood.

End Hunger CT helped me understand and learn summer meal and after school programs. With their help, knowledge and determination i was able to establish many meal sites all over Connecticut and made sure children had a fun and safe place to get a free meal. I first learned about End Hunger Connecticut!'s impact when I worked for a national anti-hunger organization. I was impressed by the leadership in moving the needle on hunger, with the ability to navigate complex issues creating hunger, and with the compassion and insight that they bring to every interaction - whether with clients or partners. I would highly recommend supporting this nonprofit; not only is it the only statewide anti-hunger organization in Connecticut, I know that any support they receive makes a real difference in the lives of the people they serve.

I was introduced to EHC almost 4 years ago, the EHC team came to our office and talked to us about their mission. Our team at Jade decided to help them with their Summer Meals Campaign program by having shirts made for their walk, so that people would know who they were by there orange t-shirts. The Summer of 2016, myself and a few of our team members joined the EHC volunteers and went door to door to tell people about the Summer Meals.

I've been a board member for 7 years and I've witnessed first hand the impact of the work End Hunger CT! in my very own community. Collaborating with leaders in school nutrition they were successful in bringing healthy, nutritious meals to children who may not have a healthy meal at home.

I've been with End Hunger, CT! since the beginning, watching the organization become a leader at the local, state and federal levels working to, well, end hunger! From fighting for state funding for school breakfast and healthy school food to helping connect people to resources and programs they need to get enough food, they are determined to make a difference that will benefit everyone now and in the future. They have connected with decision-makers to speak for families and children who most need help. This is difficult work in the current political environment, but they have been successful. The issue of hunger, and its deep rooted social and economic causes, isn't going away any time soon... please become part of this work and give your support to keep End Hunger, CT! strong
