Mission: Encore series inc, is the presenter of the philly pops,a non-profit orchestra dedicated to both large and smaller scale performances that feature selections from the great american songbook, american popular music, and celebrate american traditions. The philly pops has recently expanded its engagement and educational activities to expand audience and demographics through community visits and performances, as well as a more vigorous educational effort partnered with local school districts.
Programs: Concert series:the philly pops perform approximately thirty concerts each season. Performances normally include guests artists, often from broadway, and feature popular music from a variety of sources including broadway shows, jazz vocalists, collections of genre specific works like movie scores and, more recently, a focus on the celebration of the catalogues of popular individual artists. The philly pops is also known for its wildly popular december holiday concert series featuring a guest conductor, as many as eight choirs and add on activites surrounding the pops home at the kimmel center. The pops musicians appear throughout the year at a wide range of neighborhood based and school settings, tailoring individual programs that best suit the needs of the great philadelphia region.
