I am so happy and privileged to be a part of the Empowered Tutoring team the past three years. Empowered Tutoring provides an exceptional education service to motivate students to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
In this program, I am assigned to a set of students for the entire academic year. It gives both the students and me the time to establish a good working relationship and build a rapport. This helps the students to develop trust and confidence in me as their mentor and to open their young and curious minds. It's very fulfilling in knowing that I am playing a small but still significant role in their academic growth.
The staff at the school I work at has always been very warm, welcoming and supportive of me. Recently, I was very humbled to have the school Principal open the doors to welcome me! It definitely shows his involvement with the students.
The Empowered Tutoring team is very dedicated and passionate about their service. They find the right candidate for their service, and they always go an extra mile to find a substitute tutor when the designated tutor is on leave. Overall, Empowered Tutoring is such a great gift to these students in Northeast Wisconsin.
This will be my fourth year working as a tutor for Empowered Tutoring. I am a retired teacher with about thirty years of experience in education. This program has been a perfect fit for me to continue teaching students and helping them to grow and succeed.
I can’t say enough positive things about this program. Being able to work one-on-one with each student really helps me to hone in on exactly what areas they need to work on. It also helps them to progress more quickly. It is so rewarding to see the students’ abilities and self confidence increase during our times working together. The academic gains I’ve seen them make have been incredible! The students even go back and tell their friends about tutoring and many have asked me when they get a turn.
I am truly grateful to Empowered Tutoring and to the sponsors that enable this program to continue. It makes such a difference for the students and is an invaluable program!
I came from a very poor family of 6. My father abandoned us when we were small children. My mom ironed shirts for 10 cents each to try to support us. I went to school needy with broken pencils and very little paper. I had no book bag, so I had to use a bag from the bread for my books. Needless to say, I struggled because we did not have the tools we needed to succeed. That is why I feel so strongly about children's education and helping support Empowered Tutoring. You only get one chance to educate children!
Empowered Tutoring is a fantastic organization that helps kids with their adventures in education. They have done excellent work inside and outside of the schools encouraging children to pursue their dreams. They have made a positive impact on the surrounding communities in the Fox Valley. I am excited to see this organization to continue to develop and prosper for decades to come.
I joined the Board in 2016. The mission of this organization is spot on with today's world. Too many kids falling behind in school, and too many parents just disinterested in helping their own kids. Then, the pandemic only made things that much worse. This organization bridges the gap to get kids the help they need in school, and not continue to fall behind. Kudos to all the efforts of all the tutors, who are making a real impact with the kids they come into contact with.
I have been tutoring students with Empowered Tutoring for the last two years and absolutely love this program! I am a retired teacher and found that I really wanted to continue teaching students and to share the teaching tools I've learned to help students to succeed. I discovered Empowered Tutoring and it has been a perfect fit! I am able to work one on one with students which gives me the ability to really hone in on exactly what skill or area each student needs to work on. I have found that this program has helped students to make fantastic progress, but just as importantly, I have seen the student's confidence soar.
The staff at Empowered Tutoring really work well as a team to help the students to progress as quickly as possible. We share our resources, ideas, and years of expertise in the educational field to help our students to succeed and to help their confidence and capabilities continue to increase. It is so rewarding to see the tremendous gains the students make and to see them want to come to tutoring each session. I am grateful for this program and for the huge impact it is making on so many students' lives! Empowered Tutoring assists students to succeed in and out of the classroom. In addition to subject specific assistance - math, reading, writing, sciences, etc. - the ET tutors help students develop critical life skills like organization, daily accountability, and perseverance. The ET team is truly Empowering Kids and Changing Lives.
A good friend of mine has her son with a tutor through Empowered Tutoring. Her son, Abraham, was quiet, reserved and a bit shy. He never made eye contact when speaking with you. I don’t see him often but the last time I saw him I noticed a huge difference in his confidence level. He made eye contact, went out of his way to converse with me and seemed so happy. I mentioned to his mom the difference I noticed in him. Her reply was that she had enrolled him with Sandra, a tutor with Empowered Tutoring for about the past year and a half. She said she is so pleased with the results not only in his schoolwork but also his self-confidence and she credits Sandra and the program for all of it. I’m thrilled to know these programs exist and work so well.
As a former school board member, I became fully aware of the need for extra help or assistance for our students. The world is fast paced and teachers and parents cannot do it all. Empowered Tutoring has the means and ideals and commitment to help our students. They are making a difference to so many. It is an honor to be associated with this team. Everyone needs help with something in their life. If we can help the younger generation with some basics and guidance this will have a life long impact on the person.
I am impressed with the impact that Empowered Tutoring has made for my friend’s son. Since Abraham started in the program, I have noticed a big difference in his self-esteem, his social involvement at school, as well as his academic work. The tutor, Sandra, has gone above and beyond to help this young man to transition from middle school to high school. When his mom asked how the new school year is going, Abraham replied, “Things are fine, mom. My tutor has helped me a lot.” We are grateful for the Empowered Tutoring Program.
This nonprofit truly cares about the real goal of helping students who are struggling not just at school, but at home as well. It gives an opportunity to underprivileged kids to have a chance at succeeding in class which in turn will help them in life. It is the mission of these dedicated people to work in our neighborhood communities to strengthen our youth and show them the possibilities of what could be. An amazing idea backed by amazing people.
