As the manager of the pediatric oncology unit, I have worked closely with ENF for many years . They have partnered with us to provide transportation for our patients and families to eliminate missed chemotherapy / treatment appointments due to lack of transportation. They developed loving tabs t-shirts for our brave little patients for easy access to central lines. ENF also provides a resource center for our families , providing computers, legal aide, assistance with completing forms for FMLA for parents, financial support for utilities , financial support for funeral expenses and many other services, too many to name. Prior to covid they offered many supportive groups including an incredible knitting and sewing group which not only taught this art but also provided mothers and patients a hobby to do during long days, weeks or months while hospitalized. Any needs families have, the ENF team makes every effort to help. They are an incredible foundation and an integral part of our team. We could not provide the excellent care we do without their partnership . They are a Great Non profit and we are all blessed to work along side them. They are truly deserving of this award.
The Emilio Nares Foundation is an amazing organization helping low income families navigate their child’s journey with cancer. After hearing Richard Nares speak once about his son Emilio and the organization founded in his name,I knew I had to get involved. ENF programs range from transportation to and from cancer treatment appointments, to healthy snacks for inpatient children, providing shirts to make getting chemo more comfortable and when needed, bereavement assistance. ENF saves lives and provides so much support, financial and emotion to their families along the way. Hearing their stories and meeting the families has been both rewarding and life changing. I am so thankful to have been able to support this organization throughout the years.
I've had the honor of attending several ENF fundraising events and I continue to be inspired by this dedicated and passionate organization. ENF's mission is incredibly strong and heartfelt and the impact of families is immeasurable. I will continue to support ENF and love to see their presence in the community grow as they help more and more families navigating childhood cancer.
ENF is an amazing foundation. Their main goal is to get children with cancer, and their families to treatments, but they do so much more. They are also there for emotional support for families going through such a difficult time. We are happy to support ENF.

My family is close friends with the extended family and have helped volunteer for the organization for many years. It is a truly amazing organization that makes a tremendous impact and provides help for those that need it most.
Ive been volunteering for this event since I was a kid, and now enjoy their other events as an adult. There are great people here working an even greater cause!
After hearing their story and mission, I felt truly inspired to help anyways I could. The wonderful people at ENF have helped so many lives and continue to do so. Five star.
While perhaps not the most glamorous goals, ENF is focused on simply helping children get the cancer treatments they need for their best chance of a positive outcome.
While often heartbreaking to watch the challenges of these kids and their families, it is rewarding to knew that ENF is doing their part to make the world a better place!
The Emilio Nares Foundation has been serving the families of Rady's Children's Hospital in San Diego for a long time. Unfortunately, the need to support families during the journey with their child's cancer is not something regional and as they grow to support the families of Riverside County, Orange County, and now LA County; the same group of loving staff needs more resources to provide the essential transportation services that help these families fight the battle.
The Foundation needs your support to n serve this mission.
I am so proud of the work the Emilio Nares Foundation is doing during the COVID pandemic. They have doubled down on the mission to ensure no child misses a life saving treatment due to lack of transportation. The dedicated drivers continue to bring children battling life threatening diseases to their treatment daily, even in the face of COVID. Keep up the good work!!
I have had the privileged of serving as a Board Member for the Emilio Nares Foundation for just over a year now. ENF is doing amazing work under the leadership of Karen Terra and Katie Khasim. The core mission is achieved everyday by ensuring families are supported through their child's journey with cancer.
I was able to be a part of Cape Day where the children at the hospital were able to design capes to demonstrate they are heroes and beating cancer! ENF pays attention to every detail of the families lives and make every effort to ease their pain.
Thank you to the entire ENF team for all your hard work in supporting the families we serve.
I haven’t taken a ride with them but there goodie bags helped me and my son when we were there a long time. And we got called them to order a shirt and they were amazing by saying they provide them and they mailed my son two which are amazing to access his port!
A wonderful charity to honor the memory of a beloved son.
Helping families with children fighting cancer and being there for emotional and financial support. Starting out as a small organization to what it is today.
I am so very thankful that this type of nonprofit exists. It is difficult on it's own to raise children. But having a child with cancer is devastating. Many families must still raise and keep a (somewhat) normal life for their other children and cope with having a sick child as well.
Emilio Nares Foundation simply helps in anyway they can to ease the daily life of having a sick child.
I donate and adopt families within this foundation so I can help where i can.
I could not be more proud to help out with this amazing non-profit. It has completely changed my life just seeing twinkle in these brave little faces. They are the heros we all need to be.
The Emilio Nares Foundation goes above and beyond to ensure that not only are transportation needs met on time every time, they provide invaluable support and serve as a resource for the vast needs of the patients and their families supporting them on their journey. ENF loves its families and has a heart to serve with compassion and encouragement.
The care and compassion with which the staff treats the patients and their families is extraordinary. ENF delivers on its promise to get patients to and from their treatments on-time every time, so that no child misses an appointment due to lack of transportation. The staff go above and beyond to serve the patients and their families to ease the tremendous burden, pressure and stress resulting from having a child with cancer or hematology disorders.
My life experience with Cancer, treatments, Doctors, Nurses, and a whole medical world shadows any and all aspects of any-thing Cancer related as it does with any Patron of the Emilio Nares Foundation. However a huge difference in the two worlds is that my experience is one as an adult caregiver while Parts of the time I played the Patient role consumed with Cancer. At least as an adult in general my day to day life isn’t so scary since I’ve been exposed to this “Treatment” lifestyle in my past. With that said contributing to easing the stress for some of the bumps in the road due to the nature of treating cancer for these young Patients and their families makes me feel hopeful that my meager contribution will make their stress a little bit bearable. God Bless the staff of the Emilio Nares Foundation for their continued involvement with Cancer Patients and their families and God be with the children when they need it the most.
ENF is one of the most thoughtful and considerate non profits I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Richard and the team (Rosie!) sacrifice everything for the comfort and joy of these kids and their families and we at Corrao Group are honored to work with them and support them in every cause!
I have been fortunate to have been introduced to Emilio Nares Foundation through a mutual family member over 15 years ago. Their organization has provided countless families the support required during very difficult times. The compassion and dedication they have is inspirational for all.
My experience to date with ENF has been amazing. Meeting the kids and parents of kids that we help while battling some of life's most difficult challenges has been the most amazing part. Seeing their strength and hearing their stories makes it the most rewarding time I donate throughout the year and it isn't even close. The program/foundation are amazing and I can't imagine not being a part of it.
I’ve personally witnessed the incredible work ENF does for kids, their families and everyone else involved in any child’s journey once diagnosed with cancer. Wonderful organization and a remarkable story of how it takes a village to help a child along.
Love their mission and that they are so well run so you know your contribution is making a big impact on the children and their families.
I have known the Co-Founders, Diane and Richard Nares, for over 30 years and it was my honor to know and love their son, Emilio. Their long and courageous fight for Emilio ended tragically, yet they have spent years giving his life dignity and purpose by founding ENF. Emilio’s name is spoken hundreds of times a day and his beautiful legacy lives on in the Emilio Nares Foundation. ENF has a unique awareness of the extensive needs of families and is committed to providing many supportive services to help navigate their entire journey. When families are at the end of their noble battle and face the most vulnerable time, ENF provides a Bereavement services. Our flagship program, "A Ride with Emilio,” guarantees NO child will be forced to miss treatment because of transportation needs in San Diego County and has been recently expanded to service Los Angeles, Riverside and Imperial counties. I am honored to be a part of this Board of Directors that is committed and focused with hundreds of volunteers working selflessly to help families in need.
As an ENF Board Member for the past two years, I have increasingly become more passionate about what this foundation does to help children with cancer and their families navigate the often unknown and uncharted roads of their cancer journey. The Co-Founders, Richard & Diane Nares, the ENF Executive Director, Karen Terra and her staff, and the ENF Board are dedicated to helping all children and their families - especially the underserved - on their cancer journey - for however long that journey lasts.
Linda Holland, ENF Board Member since 2016
The Emilio Nares Foundation (ENF) navigates families through their child's journey with cancer. While the organization is most known for their transportation services that provide free rides to and from hospital appointments, check-ups, and doctor's meetings, ENF's support of these families goes way beyond that.
ENF is there for these families through their entire journey. The day they get that dreadful diagnosis, ENF is there to help translate medical records and serves as a column of support for the families to lean on. ENF provides snack bags so the kids can get a nutrition meal after 24 hours of fasting before a treatment. ENF is there to help with unexpected changes in the familes life -providing rent money when the family can no longer afford it, furniture when the family is without, and bereavement services if the child's journey ends tragically.
ENF is an foundation of hope for over 200 families who would otherwise be without.
The Emilio Nares Foundation makes a real difference in the lives of the children it serves. Through its flagship program, Ride With Emilio, it helps ensure that no child misses their cancer treatment due to lack of transportation. Its Loving Tabs shirts make cancer treatment more comfortable. And the various other support programs help families feel less alone through their child's treatment.
Getting to work with ENF over the last few years has been an honor. The staff truly put their hearts into the effort to ensure that the mission is accomplished. The team strategically focuses on the core goals and programs of the organization, like Ride With Emilio. Its great to see results you can touch and outcomes that you plan for.
I have experienced Cancer in my family thus I know the pain and suffering it causes to the person affected and the entire family.
Having seen what the ENF is doing especially helping the most vulnerable CHILDREN gave me a smile in my face and warmth feeling that there are still people who cares.
Knowing founders Richard and Diane Nares since I was a child through a friendship with their nephew, I always grew up closely with them and ENF. We would help set up their annual fundraisers in any way they needed it. Since then a lot of things have changed, but their vision has stayed the same - to ensure no child misses a cancer treatment due to lack of transportation. Not only is ENF an extraordinary non-profit, but their remarkable team of passionate leaders is also what they're all about. Everyone involved is determined to do what they do best, going above and beyond to do so for the families they do it for. To be in everyone's presence is a blessing and a great learning experience.
Absolutely amazing foundation. Love both what they stand for and the amazing work every member of their team does for all the families. Working with them and donating to such a great cause was an absolute pleasure.
Emilio Nares Foundation has been one of the best Nonprofits I have had the opportunity to work with. Their goals in providing selfless acts to a community of needy families has impressed me. Their acts have inspired me to be more proactive not only in my community but also in other communities that may be lacking resources.
I look forward to continue working with Emilio Nares Foundation. I wish them bigger success than they have ever dreamed of.
I originally came to ENF to host a fundraising event on their behalf. After learning about the critical work they do, I was asked to join the Board and have been helping to develop their programs for the past 4 years.
Learning of the Emilio Nares Foundation, I was immediately compelled to donate to such a great cause. Having had personal family members suffer from Cancer, I knew the profound impact my donation could have on so many of the kids that are fighting an intense disease during what should otherwise be a care-free stage of their lives. I am hoping that more people will consider contributing to such a great cause as ENF, because we need more organizations like this in the world!
